“Miss, why are we stopping by the bank?”

Anna couldn’t help but ask, worried about Leila’s unusual actions. It was an impertinent question, but she had to know.

“I have some matters to take care of, and I need your help.”

Anna’s eyes widened at the request. Leila had rarely asked for her assistance. The first request was to somehow survive in the mansion, and the second was to play the violin. Now, this was the third.

“I’ll do anything for you!”

Leila told Anna, who was ready to do anything for her beloved master.

“First, I need you to find the bank manager.”

“Yes!”

It seemed like a trivial request, but Anna didn’t mind. She approached a nearby employee.

“My lady wishes to see the bank manager. Could you please guide us?”

Anna had been trained by Leila’s mother from a young age and was excellent in etiquette and culture, rivaling that of a lady-in-waiting. Her graceful gestures and intonation quickly led the employee to guide them to the VIP room.

“I will bring the bank manager right away. Before that, may I ask for your name, honored guest?”

Anna answered on her behalf.

“My lady is the young lady of the Este Count family.”

The employee understood without needing her full name. They would need it when processing the transaction anyway.

“Thank you. Please wait a moment.”

After the employee left, Leila explained in detail what she needed Anna to do.

“There is an inheritance my mother left in my name.”

“…Really?”

Anna was delighted to hear this, thinking Leila had lost everything.

“My maternal grandfather entrusted it to me as a trust. Today, I will transfer it to you.”

“…What?”

Anna was confused by the unexpected statement, having been happy moments before at the thought Leila had a secure future. Leila squeezed Anna’s hand and added,

“It’s just in case.”

“But…”

“If I’m forced into marriage, any property in my name will belong to my husband. I have no choice but to assign it to someone I trust.”

“Miss…”

Anna was aware of the marriage proposal brought by Sarah. The whole mansion had been abuzz with it. She quickly understood Leila’s plan and was glad to be trusted. She wanted to help.

“Yes, I will guard it well until you need it.”

Leila turned her head toward Anna, unable to see her. She vaguely remembered Anna’s mischievous face from childhood. She wondered how she had grown up but simply smiled.

“Excuse me, I am Baron Martin, the manager of Martin Bank. May I see your identification papers?”

Leila took the folded documents from her dress pocket, placed them in Anna’s hand, and spoke to the bank manager.

“Before I hand them over, please show my maid your seal of identification.”

“Of course.”

After completing the simple yet essential procedure, she handed over the documents. The bank manager, contrary to her expectations, smoothly transferred the property ownership despite it being given to a maid.

With the seal and signature done, all procedures were completed. Having successfully transferred the property to Anna’s name, she felt a sense of relief.

As Anna prepared to leave, the bank manager spoke cheerfully.

“You resemble your mother a lot.”

“…You knew my mother?”

“Of course. It was thanks to your maternal grandfather that I could become a baron and a bank manager.”

“Oh…”

Leila thought of her maternal grandfather, Count Keller, whom she had lost contact with after her mother’s death. Her father had casually mentioned his passing a few years ago.

Although she had never properly seen his face, the news of his death had left her with a great sense of loss.
