My Perfect Omega - Chapter 54
Opening the bedroom door, Lucas spoke to the head maid who was preparing the food.
“Leave all the food here and everyone, go out.”
“Yes, understood.”
The head maid and the maids quickly exited after finishing their preparations. He returned to Leila, wrapping his arms around her shoulders and helping her up.
“There’s no need to worry, no one is here.”
Leila wanted to protest softly, saying, ‘But you are here.’ However, being unable to see was inconvenient, and she had to rely on others.
“Put on the robe and let’s satisfy your hunger first.”
Embarrassed to come out while still naked in his arms, Leila couldn’t show it. She felt his sincerity in his care.
She had never received such care from anyone other than Anna, especially not from a man.
He treated her with such caution, as if handling something very delicate. His tone was sometimes arrogant and a bit curt, but his touch was warm and very gentle. It made her heart feel oddly ticklish.
“I’m going to put the robe on you, so don’t be startled.”
“Okay…”
After donning a robe as soft as the bedding, she took his hand and moved with him. Nervously following in the unfamiliar space, he lifted her again.
The sensation of his strides was strange but pleasant. How nice it would be if she could walk like that. She wouldn’t have to constantly check the ground or surrounding furniture.
He seated her on a chair and then sat across from her. Reaching out his long arm, he gently placed a spoon in her hand as she carefully felt the table.
“There is some soup that has cooled just enough right in front of you. It’s our chef’s specialty, beef tomato stew. If you taste it and tell him it’s delicious, he’ll be excited and bring something even tastier.”
“…Okay.”
Leila felt around for the bowl with her hand to gauge its position. Carefully scooping some soup, she tasted it and was immediately impressed. It was indeed the most delicious soup she had ever had.
“It’s good, isn’t it?”
“Yes, it’s really delicious.”
“I’m glad you like it.”
With a hint of laughter in his voice, he also began to eat the soup. He chatted intermittently and hummed a tune when they ate in silence.
Leila, chewing and listening to his reactions, noticed that his humming was oddly off-key and burst into laughter.
“…Why are you laughing?”
“Nothing… Um, do you like ‘The Hidden Symphony of Eternity’?”
“How did you know?”
“You were just humming it…”
Lucas’s expression turned cold at her response. However, since Leila couldn’t see, it didn’t matter.
“Do you find it strange that I’m humming?”
It wasn’t just his expression that became cold. His frosty voice made Leila tilt her head and reply.
“No? I was just happy because I also love that piece. I’ve loved it since I was a child. Especially, I like the ending more than the climax—it’s so mysterious.”
“Ah, I see.”
Lucas was pleased that Leila appreciated his unique taste, unlike others. He felt slightly embarrassed for initially reacting coldly, and he touched his now-warm earlobe. He was glad she couldn’t see this side of him.
“Oh, do you know the last piece the composer wrote before he died?”
“You’re talking about ‘The Overture of Mystery’, right?”
“Yes, that piece is so mystical that listening to it feels like flying in the sky.”
“Hmm, that’s a bit different from how I feel. When I listen to ‘The Overture of Mystery,’ I feel like I’m the only one left in the world, freely wandering around a deserted place.”
“I see.”
He smiled quietly as he continued to eat the soup, feeling reassured that choosing Leila was not a mistake.
He pushed the empty soup bowl aside and cut the steak into bite-sized pieces. After removing the soup bowl in front of her, he placed the plate with the steak in its place.
“There is a fork right next to the plate. I’ve cut the steak into pieces, so take your time and enjoy.”
Having not had proper meat since losing her sight, Leila was momentarily speechless at his unexpected thoughtfulness.
