My Perfect Omega - Chapter 76
How could she talk about wanting to die so easily? And here he was right beside her. Does she still want to die?
Could she have been planning this from the beginning?
The sudden thought paralyzed him, making him forget to silence the maids.
He realized there had been an unresolved question nagging at him: Why did Leila send Anna away?
If the situation had been bad at the time, she could have called her back now, but she only seemed curious about Anna’s well-being, as if she never expected Anna to return.
How dare you think of death while you’re by my side?
“Who did you think you were talking to?”
His purple eyes, filled with fury, no longer looked human. They resembled the eyes of a demon from ancient myths, who once lured and corrupted humans.
“M-Master!”
“T-That’s not it at all!”
“The lady suddenly said something strange about wanting poison. We were just so shocked that…hiccup!”
The three maids were so terrified they could barely speak. One started hiccuping, another froze in fear, and the last burst into tears.
The master they knew as cold yet elegant and dignified was nowhere to be seen. The rage radiating from him was so terrifying they couldn’t even make excuses.
“Emma, Philip!”
He called out, not knowing if they had entered the mansion yet. As he expected, they came running.
“You called, Master?”
“Yes, Master.”
They answered in turn, but Lucas didn’t even glance at them, issuing his order instead.
“Arrest these wretches immediately. Bring their families as well!”
“M-Master!”
“Please spare us!”
“We’re sorry, hiccup!”
Emma, looking puzzled, glanced at the maids. They were crawling towards her, clinging to her in desperation.
“H-Head maid…”
“Please, save us. Please, hiccup!”
“No… wahhh…”
Philip found it odd to see Lucas, who had been in a good mood, now looking as if he wanted to kill someone while glaring at Leila. Though he didn’t know all the details, he could guess that the maids had done something terribly wrong.
He answered Lucas promptly.
“Yes, sir!”
Philip swiftly identified the maids. As the key person in hiring at the duke’s household, he knew who they were just by looking at them. He left Emma in charge and hurried inside the mansion.
Soon after Philip left, the knights arrived to drag the maids away, while Emma, with a worried look, glanced between Lucas and Leila before following the knights.
Lucas, who had been glaring at Leila all this time, slowly started walking towards her, deliberately making noise so she could hear him approach.
But at that moment, she wished he would come silently. Too shocked to say anything, she clutched her skirt tightly with trembling fingers.
Deep down, she wanted to flee anywhere. She felt so ashamed and wretched in his presence, someone who was loved and confident.
“I’ll give you a chance to explain.”
Standing in front of her, Lucas spoke in an emotionless voice. From his words, Leila realized he had heard most of the conversation. She knew what he wanted to ask but didn’t want to answer.
When she remained silent, he spoke again.
“Are you refusing to speak?”
“…”
“Do you think I can’t make you talk?”
Lucas muttered, glaring at her stubbornly closed lips.
“If you won’t tell me, I’ll bring Anna and ask her.”
“No, you can’t do that!”
Predictably, the moment Anna’s name was mentioned, Leila cried out with a tearful face. This only infuriated Lucas more. He grabbed her shoulders and spoke in a restrained voice.
“So, that’s why you sent the maid away.”
