My Perfect Omega - Chapter 85
“My lady, are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?” Emma asked.
Leila nodded and replied, “Yes….”
“Not just because he’s our master, but really…”
Emma continued, admiring the dress Leila was wearing.
“His sense of aesthetics is extraordinary. It suits you so well, it’s surprising.”
As the head maid showered praise, the four maids around them began to chime in.
“Miss, it’s probably because you have such a great figure that it suits you so well!”
“How is your skin so flawless?”
“Your makeup is perfect! You look truly beautiful!”
“Braiding your hair like this and letting it loose completely changes the atmosphere. I didn’t realize black hair could be so beautiful!”
At the last maid’s comment, the others pinched her sides. Realizing her mistake, the maid trembled. She was aware of the recent fate of three maids who had been dismissed miserably for their thoughtless chatter.
Those maids had fortunately not received physical punishment but had been given an even harsher sentence. Their entire families were banished to a remote countryside village.
Being exiled to the northern borders, where it’s winter most of the year, was dreadful just to think about.
“If you’re done with the preparations, you may leave now.”
Leila ordered, able to sense the subtle changes in the atmosphere better because she couldn’t see.
Emma also looked coldly at the maid who had made the mistake and added,
“Her Ladyship is letting it go this time, but next time, I will be the one to punish you!”
“W-We apologize …”
The maid repeatedly bowed and apologized before leaving.
“Miss, don’t take it to heart. She was just blabbering foolishly because she doesn’t know any better,” Emma reassured.
“It’s okay.”
Despite the discrimination she faced because of her black hair, Leila didn’t really mind it. After all, it was one of the few things she inherited from her mother.
Knowing that in her maternal family’s country, black hair was common, Leila never paid much attention to her hair color. What bothered her was the rumor that her black hair made her an omega abandoned by God.
“Can dresses usually be made this quickly?”
Leila asked, although she couldn’t see the dress herself, the texture alone told her it was made from an incredibly fine fabric with meticulous stitching.
Emma excitedly explained,
“When our master called several dressmakers at once, I thought he was going to make them compete, but it wasn’t like that. He told the owners of three dress shops that if they worked together to make the dress, he would pay them extra. And he promised additional orders from those shops, completely persuading them.”
“That’s really generous of him. I have nothing to repay him with, so what should I do?”
“My lady, you look so good in it—there’s no better reward for him than this!”
Emma expertly soothed Leila’s worries. After all, the Barvenberg Duchy had more wealth than they knew what to do with, so material repayment was unnecessary.
“Oh, I almost forgot the most important part!”
Sensing Leila’s spirits dropping, Emma exaggeratedly presented a jewelry box that Lucas had prepared in advance.
“Fufu, these were prepared personally by the master. They belonged to the late duchess.”
Hearing this, Leila felt a burden. He never listened to her. He didn’t even flinch when she said she wanted to go to her uncle’s using Anna as an excuse.
“Excuse me for a moment.”
Emma opened the jewelry box and began to take out each piece of the jewelry set. The set, made of high-purity diamonds, included pieces for the head, neck, ears, and wrist. The only thing missing was a ring.
A hair ornament with tiny diamond grains and platinum chains settled on her waterfall-like braided hair, shimmering.
Square-cut diamonds of a simple design adorned her round earlobes, and a bracelet of tiny diamond grains and leaf-like platinum threads was placed on her right wrist.
As each piece of jewelry was added, Leila felt heavier. She constantly wondered if it was right for her to wear such precious items.
