My Perfect Omega - Chapter 90
In truth, Lucas had wanted to propose to her before coming here, when he had slipped the ring on her finger. He had wanted to make up for his clumsy confession at the temple. He intended to wait for the right opportunity, but seeing her relying solely on him filled him with such love that he couldn’t hold back any longer.
As he gazed intently at the small hand with the ring, he murmured in a voice brimming with joy.
“Finally, everything is perfect.”
Leila hesitated, then spoke with difficulty.
“I never wanted this.”
“I will be your eyes and your feet. So don’t worry about anything.”
“I refuse your offer.”
Once she started talking, the words flowed out easily. Leila felt a strong urge to distance herself from Lucas. This was never what she had wanted.
On the other hand, Lucas was displeased with her constant rejection. So, without realizing it, he blurted out a cruel remark.
“You were planning to die anyway. So, why not give your life to me?”
Leila’s face twisted at his brutal words. Her trembling eyes revealed her emotions clearly. However, he chose not to empathize with those feelings, knowing that she probably still wanted to die.
Even if he clung to her, she would remain anxious and doubtful. So, he decided to ensure she couldn’t even entertain such thoughts in the first place. Even if she crumbled to pieces, he was confident he could put her back together.
She didn’t respond. Or rather, she couldn’t. As if in a daze, Leila was led back to the ballroom by Lucas, sticking by his side like a doll, receiving greetings from strangers until they returned to the Duke’s residence.
Lucas smiled broadly by her side, genuinely seeming happy.

“Ahhhh!”
The people of the Este family, who had left the ballroom before it ended, vented their frustrations the moment they entered their mansion. They were infuriated by the sight of Leila, who should have been the most miserable among them, appearing in such an expensive dress.
Amelie felt like she was going to lose her mind from the constant questions,
“Was that really Sister?”
Timo, too, was bombarded with inquiries from his friends asking,
“Is that really our half-wit eldest sister?”
What angered them most was the look in people’s eyes.
“Damn it, they were so eager to join in on the mockery, but now they’re acting like they’ve cut ties with us.”
Amelie agreed with Timo’s outburst.
“They’re so jealous they could die, yet they act like they’re giving advice.”
One young lady had told Amelie, “But she’s still your family. Wasn’t it too heartless to ignore her like that? No wonder your sister clung to the kind Duke.” It was as if she was being blamed for everything.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that almost everyone at the ball had similar things to say.
Benjamin sat in a daze, while the two children yelled noisily. Among the four of them, only Sarah sat quietly.
She recalled Leila, who had appeared in a purple dress, a color only the royals could wear. Seeing her from a distance, Sarah had to admit the girl was dazzlingly beautiful, which pure admiration soon turned into rage.
Sarah had worked tirelessly to finally be recognized as a true Countess, while Leila, despite living in rags, had become a high-ranking noble just by being an omega and finding a good alpha. Was pretending to be pitiful and playing the violin all she ever did?
Grinding her teeth, Sarah’s sound was fierce but drowned out by the bickering of Timo and Amelie. After grinding her teeth a few times, she silently stood up and left the drawing room.
Wandering the corridor while biting her nails, Sarah muttered ominously.
“What can the Emperor do? If she’s dead, it’s over.”
After all, she had spared Leila once before. So, if she took Leila’s life now, neither the Duke nor the Emperor could do anything about it. What could they do about someone already dead?
Sarah found herself heading towards the head maid’s quarters, a maid who was her true accomplice. She needed her help, just like a few years ago.
