Aside from the moaning Mohawk, the other two instantly straightened, their tone shifting noticeably.

Johann’s deep green eyes landed on me, still held by the collar.

The guy holding me lowered his voice into a threat.

“Hey, think real hard about what you say next, unless you wanna spend the rest of your sentence in pieces.”

Of course I’ll say it right. I gave my best pitiful expression.

“I’m currently getting grabbed by the collar, sir.”

“Creative teaching method. These guys are your tutors? I don’t hit teachers, you know.”

“No, sir. They tried to steal the Choco Pies I was saving for you and Enrique. One’s already taken, and I was fighting to keep the last one. Please observe the chocolate-stained mouth of that bastard over there.”

Snitching as cleanly as I could, I watched as the terrified thug let go and stood upright in a panic.

Johann was a man of standards, he wasn’t the type to beat people without reason.

Of course, when there wasn’t one, he’d make one up. Like: “Your face pissed me off.”

His eyes narrowed dangerously at the squashed Choco Pie still in my hand.

“That so? That’s bad.”

And then, like a real boyfriend-type lead, he gave a dark little laugh.

I watched the scar at the corner of his lips curl up into a wicked smirk.

It seemed less like Johann was standing up for me, and more like he was simply delighted to have a good excuse to beat someone up.

He walked over, plucked the strawberry lollipop from my mouth, and popped it into his own.

“You were hiding this in your mouth to give to me? How sweet.”

“Hey, give it back.”

That’s my candy!

He’s usually such a neat freak—how is he okay eating a lollipop someone else was just sucking?

As Johann approached, licking the lollipop, the two prisoners backed away uneasily.

“So you’re the ones who ate my Choco Pie? You dared?”

“Absolutely not! We swear we didn’t eat it!”

Their desperate denial seemed to irritate him. Johann’s brow twitched slightly.

“Open your mouths.”

The two prisoners obediently opened up. Johann took one glance and, like closing a drawer, shoved one of their jaws shut with a flick.

“According to my exam, you ate four out of five. You’ve got tons of cavities, too.”

“What kind of nonsense logic—four more? That’s ridiculous, it’s unfair!”

Veins bulged in Johann’s forearm as he gripped the prisoner’s jaw tight.

“…We ate it. We’re sorry.”

Only after his jaw had popped three times did the guy finally confess.

Johann raised his fists in a boxing stance, flames erupting from his fingertips.

“Five round trips at 100 km/h.”

The prisoners had no idea what a flaming punch meant.

Impatient, Johann scowled as he watched them.

“What, first time? Run up and slam your head down.”

Such a thug.

One of the prisoners, finally understanding, dashed forward in a ninja pose and smashed his forehead to the ground.

After a few rounds of that childish punishment, tears welled in their eyes.

“Bring five Choco Pies after the next chapel service. Got it?”

“Y-Yes, sir…”

They shuffled off, rubbing their scorched scalps and sniffling.

It didn’t feel like vengeance on my behalf—just extortion disguised as justice, really.

“Let’s go, Kido. Before the cafeteria closes.”

Johann gave a slick kick to the crawling Mohawk guy’s rear and tilted his chin toward me.

“So your name’s Kido? It’s a pretty name.”

Number 48, Princess Eliza, came limping after us and slipped her arm through mine.

I grimaced and yanked my arm away.

“Here’s some advice. If you want to live long, stop jumping into people’s messes. Just look out for yourself.”

“But you made it through, didn’t you?”

“Don’t give me that hindsight crap. You don’t know what could’ve happened if Johann hadn’t shown up.”

Even at my annoyance, Eliza only smiled warmly.

“Still, I’m sure we might’ve found another way.”

…Well, that wasn’t totally wrong, either. Whatever. Not worth arguing.

More importantly—how did a royal from another country end up in this prison?

I looked over at Eliza’s delicate features.

“So, why are you here, Princess of the Federation?”

At my question, she lowered her eyes, her expression darkening.
