Obsession... What's That? I Just Wish Someone Would Help Me Escape - Chapter 40
I groggily opened my eyes slowly and was met with absinthe-colored green eyes in the darkness.
Johann’s face was close, looking directly at me.
The sound of the fierce wind howling grew louder, and it felt even colder than before.
“The door flew off again. Damn bastards, shoddy construction. They’re probably planning revenge for losing their home.”
Excuse me. It was you who broke that door.
“So should we huddle with the prince?”
I thought about squeezing between the two of them, the warmest spot.
While I was thinking, Johann, who was lying facing me, lifted the corner of his mouth in a smirk.
“If we do that, we’ll die of hypothermia.”
Ah right, he’s the ice prince.
Johann gestured for me to come into his arms.
“Number 49, come closer.”
“What?”
“Hug me.”
A bit overwhelming, but what choice do I have?
I obediently curled up in his arms, and he wrapped himself around me.
I could feel his Adam’s apple moving up and down as he rested his chin on the top of my head.
Soon, he sighed and muttered harsh curses.
“Ah, f**k… When was the last time you washed your hair?”
“I haven’t had the chance to wash it today. Sorry.”
In romance fantasy novels, the heroine wakes up and immediately shares a passionate kiss with the male lead, without bad breath or needing to wash. Isn’t that how it goes?
At least, the male lead never complains.
I must not be receiving the same perks because I’m not the heroine.
Even in extreme situations, Johann, who believes in washing at least twice a day, smelled like fragrant soap.
Could this man actually be the heroine?
“Stay put if you don’t want to freeze to death.”
He kept as much distance as possible from the top of my head.
I buried my face into his broad chest and closed my eyes.
Suddenly, I felt something heavy pressing against my lower abdomen.
Full of youthful vigor, as expected…
So that’s why he wanted to sleep facing away.
“Could you move that weapon, please? I understand, but it’s uncomfortable.”
At my request, he sighed and slightly shifted his body away.
“If you don’t want to be poked all night, keep your mouth shut and sleep.”

I woke up to the sensation of sunlight tickling my eyelids.
Johann was nowhere to be seen.
Looking behind me, I saw sunlight streaming through the crookedly fitted door.
Behind me lay Enrique, asleep with his arm as my pillow.
Did he serve as a windbreak all night?
His silver hair, resembling ice crystals, gleamed in the morning light.
Despite the harsh prison life, he maintained a youthful, delicate appearance like a young master.
What’s his secret? My skin is already suffering from the harsh conditions.
As I lay there observing him closely, his eyelids fluttered open, revealing his golden eyes like a sunrise.
He looked at me with a seductive gaze.
“Why are you staring?”
His gentle voice startled me into sitting up abruptly.
My body was still shivering. This felt like the onset of a cold.
“No, I just thought you might have been blocking the wind for me all night…”
“Yes. I didn’t want you to freeze to death. I like you.”
“Like me?”
What does that mean? Did we have some sort of chemistry between us?
I didn’t do anything. When did he become interested in me?
“The previous inmates in our room mostly didn’t appeal to me. They snored or ground their teeth while sleeping, or stole our stuff to trade. Compared to them, you sleep like the dead, so I like you.”
Ah, he means I’m a tolerable cellmate.
I awkwardly smiled, feeling embarrassed.
“Isn’t it kind of hot now?”
Enrique brushed his silver-white hair back and asked.
“It’s warmer than in the evening.”
“So, you’re saying it’s hot?”
Why is he pushing this? Feeling compelled to agree, I nodded.
Smiling slightly, Enrique slowly moved closer and wrapped an arm around my back.
The refreshing scent that matched his cool aura came closer.
“Is this better?”
He asked, his amber eyes narrowing.
“Uh-huh. I mean, yes.”
I shrugged my shoulders as I felt his chin resting on top of my head.
“I didn’t wash my hair.”
“I can tolerate it.”
At least he didn’t say he was okay with me dying soon.
Enrique sighed contentedly, as if he had just settled into a cozy bed after a long day, and whispered softly.
“So during the day, with me…”
Bang—
Before he could finish, the door we had fitted back in fell with a loud crash.
