Obsession... What's That? I Just Wish Someone Would Help Me Escape - Chapter 51
Claiming to be a god?
Even as an atheist, I found that kind of blasphemy a bit much…
I began to suspect that this guy might actually be some sort of cult leader here to preach to me.
That would explain why he lives in an expensive mansion in a fancy neighborhood.
“Do you use teleportation and levitate in mid-air by any chance…?”
Before I could finish asking, the man vanished without a trace.
I stared blankly at the spot where he had disappeared.
It felt surreal, like I was in a strange dream.
Even though he said he’d fixed what was broken, my physical condition didn’t seem any different.
The fever, the chills—they were still the same.
“Why are you lying there like a corpse?”
I heard a familiar voice and turned my head.
Johann was standing over me, looking down as if I were a stray cat abandoned on the forest floor.
“Damn it, I told you not to die until I got to watch, but here you are…”
What was he going on about? Was he already mourning me?
As we locked eyes, his green gaze widened slightly.
“You’re not dead? Did those 20s bastards leave you for dead? Should I go teach them a lesson?”
His lips curled into a satisfied smile.
Not as though he was rushing to defend me, but as if the idea of tormenting someone and raiding them gave him a delightful excuse.
That’s just like him, a chaotic evil with some semblance of order.
“No, I fell off a cliff.”
At my words, Johann tilted his head back, as if estimating the height of the cliff, before looking at me again.
“Really? But setting aside the fact that you didn’t die, how are your limbs all intact?”
He didn’t seem all that surprised.
“I have no idea.”
I didn’t care about that at the moment. My head was consumed with thoughts of revenge against Prisoner Number 27.
He would be shocked when he saw I had survived.
And then, no doubt, he’d try to kill me again.
But in order to hide the fact that he was a butcher, he’d devise some new scheme to finish me off without anyone else noticing.
I decided not to tell Johann what had happened earlier.
Either way, before he kills me, I’ll make sure to kill him first.
The bastards from the Order who treat people like livestock, the Saintess too—they’re all the same.
I clenched my teeth in rage, as though trying to swallow it down.
Even though I didn’t ask him to, Johann suddenly lifted me onto his back and began to walk, humming to himself.
Feeling the firm grip of his arms wrapped around my legs made me a little embarrassed.
“I don’t know the way. Guide me.”
“Go straight through the pine forest, then turn left.”
Now reduced to being a human GPS, I kept some distance so my upper body wouldn’t touch his back.
Honestly, it would be less tiring to just walk.
“Johann, where’s Enrique?”
“He’s probably still freezing that upper-class monster.”
“You came back without finishing it?”
“It’s almost done. Besides, I felt something in this area.”
I tilted my head in confusion.
“Felt what? My impending doom?”
“The presence of a demonic god.”
His flat answer made my entire body stiffen.
That guy earlier—was he not a cult leader but an actual demonic god? Did he come to convert me into believing in him?
Suddenly, a thought struck me, and my eyes widened.
Maybe he was the Demon Lord of Sloth, here to bestow me his powers.
“I didn’t see anything.”
Better not to let anything slip.
After all, I couldn’t fully trust Johann either.
The original story didn’t go into detail about prison life, so for all I knew, Johann could be one of the butchers sacrificing prisoners as offerings.
“Hey. Don’t blow on my ear.”
Johann shrugged his shoulders. Ears are a weakness, for one thing, noted…….
“Do you think a demonic god appeared?”
At my question, he shook his head slightly.
“It was too far off to tell. Could’ve been another one of the empowered.”
“I heard Number 3 is supposed to be an empowered one.”
“Nah, it wouldn’t be him. He’s locked in solitary, going through constant edification. Doesn’t do anything else.”
Maybe there’s an empowered one who hasn’t been caught by the Order yet.
So he’s just some crazy guy who believes he’s a god.
I let out a weak sigh and asked,
“By any chance, do you receive edification often?”
The words of the 20s prisoners suddenly bothered me.
The two of them going on a rampage would be the closest thing to death, like having a ticking time bomb planted in my room.
“The Saintess visits occasionally to purify me, but it’s just enough to put out the immediate fire, so I can’t really use my full power.”
Just putting out the immediate fire probably means she’s still doing light stuff like holding hands for now to purify him.
Later on, she’ll probably lure him in with other things….
