Obsession... What's That? I Just Wish Someone Would Help Me Escape - Chapter 53
Before long, the cold crept in with the twilight darkness.
Inside the cave, Johann lay on a hammock made by someone rather skilled.
On top of the hammock, there was a warm fox fur laid out.
“Aren’t you going to wash up?”
He asked seriously, lying there with his hands clasped behind his head.
“I washed earlier. It’s too cold to wash at night.”
“Please, wash at least once a day. Last time, you smelled like an unwashed puppy. It’s really filthy, I can’t live with you like this.”
I glanced at him like an annoyed mom and shook my head.
“…I am washing.”
“I’ll be checking every day.”
He sighed and lifted the fox fur, gesturing for me to come closer.
“Come here. Let’s sleep.”
“What’s this secretive thing we have to do together?”
“Sleeping together. It’s not exactly something you want others to see, right? They might misunderstand.”
Haven’t we already been misunderstood enough?
Ah, right. He’s the kind of crazy person who says innocent things in the most suspicious way possible.
“It’s warm though? I don’t think we need to sleep together.”
“I need to sleep with my leg up. Enrique isn’t here right now.”
So, you’re using me as a body pillow?
And you usually do this with Enrique?
Johann swept back his bangs, narrowing his eyes.
“If you don’t want to, sleep on the floor then.”
“Okay.”
I obediently lay down on the floor and waved him off.
“Goodnight.”
Johann stared at me for a moment, then tossed the fox fur at me.
“If you die while I’m asleep, you’re dead meat.”
“I don’t die easily, okay? I’m just in poor health.”
Why does he keep treating me like some delicate fish that dies so easily?
I grumbled as I wrapped the fox fur around myself.
Wow, this is really soft and warm. Thanks, fox. I won’t forget your sacrifice.
“Sacrifice…”
I mumbled softly, biting my lip.
Should I tell Johann and Enrique that we’re all going to be sacrifices?
Well, the top ranks are probably treated like prized stallions, saved until the very end.
I’ll think about it later. I’m too exhausted.
Just as I was about to close my eyes, I saw something slither past in front of me, and I screamed in a high-pitched voice.
“Kyaaa! F*ck!”
It was a blue centipede, as thick as my wrist.
That blue mint color with all those legs was revolting.
Why is it so big?! Is it some kind of demon?
“Sh*t! That scared me.”
Startled by my scream, Johann turned to me with a very serious expression.
“You scream and curse over something like that? You see bugs all the time in prison.”
He says that, but he was startled too…
“That thing is insanely huge! And it’s highly venomous! Plus, it’s so disgusting I can’t even think of it as just a bug… Ugh! Get lost!”
I stomped down hard on the centipede, shuddering at the crunching sensation underfoot.
Looking closely, it seemed like there was more than just one. What is this, a centipede den?
“Ugh, gah.”
Seeing me gagging as if I were about to vomit blood, Johann shook his head.
With a flick of his finger, the other centipedes trying to crawl away burst into flames.
Why does it smell like grilled shrimp?
“Are you vomiting blood just because you hate centipedes that much?”
Johann mocked me while keeping the centipedes at bay with the fire.
My back tingled, and I jumped up onto the hammock, wrapping myself tightly in the fox fur.
“I’m going to rely on you for this… There’s no way I can sleep on the floor after dealing with those crazy things. It reminds me of the horrible experience I had as a kid when I drank medicine made from centipede venom.”
“You’ve really eaten all sorts of things, huh? Do whatever you want.”
After wrapping me up in the fur, he casually threw one of his legs over mine.
“You look like a rabbit, but your mouth is foul.”
“Prison life makes you rough around the edges. Just like you.”
“You’ve always been like that.”
Always? He playfully tugged at my pink hair and spoke.
“Was it at a social party before? The only child of the count… I remember seeing a woman kick him right in the g***n so hard that his bloodline was cut off.”
“Oh… Who would do such a terrible thing?”
“You. Now I remember.”
I pretended not to know, but he caught me.
That count’s son knew I was weak and tried to drag me to a secluded spot by force.
“And then, just like now, she coughed up blood.”
“Yes, that was me. Coughing up blood is just part of my daily life, so you don’t have to worry about it.”
“Is coming back from the dead also a part of your daily life?”
“It seems so.”
Johann, who had been staring at me intently, curved his lips into a wide grin.
“Back then, I thought you were cute, like a violent little rabbit.”
