Overpowered Reincarnation Perks! - Chapter 12.2
I quickly slipped into the side passage and started running. With the distance between us now, I should be able to escape if I play it smart. The problem is this damned smoke.
‘It’s fortunate I was in the water barrel.’
I ran with my wet sleeve covering my nose. Thankfully, the magic stone glasses seemed to have an eye-protecting effect, so the smoke didn’t sting my eyes and prevent me from seeing.
Bang bang bang. I hit the wall with the hammer, and the sound echoed from all directions. I hope this will confuse anyone following me.
‘First, I need to go up.’
The fire in the central passage was definitely subsiding. It seems some of the people who started extinguishing the fire from the end of the passage had reached the center. I stuck close to the wall and looked for stairs going up.
‘A secluded staircase… Good. There it is!’
Taking advantage of the gap when the soldiers who put out the fire with the water they brought left to fetch more water, I ran up the stairs.
Even though the fire was out, the upper level was full of smoke.
I wondered why there was so much smoke, but then I saw that there was a glass smoke barrier at the passage leading to the first floor.
‘They’ve done a good job with the smoke prevention facilities, at least.’
Crash!
When I struck it with the hammer, the glass shattered. My body got a bit scratched by the shards, but I don’t have the luxury to worry about minor things. I squeezed through the broken glass.
As I had guessed from the smoke barrier, there was no one on the first floor.
Since there’s no chance of smoke rising, they’re focusing on putting out the fire, I see.
Thanks to that, it was the optimal condition to move without being noticed.
“Ugh… What’s this?”
As I was about to run towards the northeast warehouse I had seen on the map, I heard the voice of someone waking up from somewhere.
I turned around to see a completely drunk soldier staggering towards me. Even with the smoke barrier broken and smoke billowing in, the smell of alcohol was stronger than the smoke, which says it all.
‘Oh, for heaven’s sake. Everyone else went to put out the fire, and you were sprawled out here drinking alone!’
I’m not sure if he was passed out drunk in a strange place and other soldiers didn’t find him, or if they were in such a hurry to fight the fire that they left behind those who wouldn’t wake up, but the situation was not good.
I hid my hand gripping the hammer handle behind my back. If necessary, I’d have to strike and run, but given the guy’s size, I’m not sure if it’s possible.
It was quite a sight to see him looking sleek, considering he’s supposed to be a Central Palace soldier.
“Why is it so dark? Did everyone else pass out?”
You’re the one who passed out, you pathetic creature.
Fortunately, the guy seemed unable to grasp the current situation properly, probably due to being drunk. He doesn’t seem to have noticed the fire or the intruders, so maybe I can somehow coax him back to sleep.
“That’s right. The others have returned to their rooms. You should get some rest too.”
“Rest? What rest? If they’ve gone to their rooms, it’s time to start now.”
“Pardon?”
A large hand grabbed my shoulder and pulled me close. I quickly blocked with my hands as his exposed chest beneath the open uniform came alarmingly close. That was a close call.
“Ugh. Your hands are rough.”
“Wait a moment, let go of this, and let’s talk……”
“Your face is a bit blurry, so not great, but that’s fine. I like how lively and cute you are.”
Shhh. The man inhaled stickily, grabbing the nape of my neck and tilting my head back.
‘Ugh.’
Third-rate villains must truly be mass-produced in a factory. Otherwise, there’s no way the shape of hands trying to grab b*****s would all be the same.
‘Did these crazy bastards drink themselves silly and call for women? Rotten scum.’
I doubt he can even stand properly after drinking so much. Of course, I’m not really wondering. I wasn’t the least bit curious about the lower body situation of guys whose heads are full of nothing but lecherous thoughts.
“Um, excuse me!”
“Hm?”
“You, you seem very drunk.”
Simply trying to put him to sleep won’t work at all. If that’s the case, there’s only one option left.
“I’ll do it for you, so please close your eyes and lie down comfortably.”
“Oh my. Looking so modest, but you know how to say naughty things too?”
The man chuckled as he stroked my cheek and shoulder. If it weren’t for the position reversal cooldown, I would have thrown this bastard over the castle wall.
It’s clear that the soldiers of this castle have invested all their intelligence and morality stats into appearance.
Even so, considering they can’t even come close to Arvan’s level, the world is certainly unfair.
“If you close your eyes, I’ll make you feel good.”
“Heh, great. Suck me until I see stars.”
Oh, I’ll show you stars alright.
The moment he closed his eyes and lowered both hands to undo his belt, I raised the hammer I had been hiding behind my back.
Whack!
“Argh!”
The law is closer than fists, fists are stronger than the law, and for beginners, blunt weapons are more suitable than blades.
As I struck his crown with all my might using the hammer, he fell face-first onto the floor with a strange scream. His rolled-back eyes were so creepy that I felt a chill for a moment.
Could he be dead?
“You, damn it!”
“Eek!”
He wasn’t. As I tried to step back, he grabbed my ankle and I fell.
Damn it. He would have suffocated if I had left him alone, but my hesitation in wondering if he was dead was a mistake.
‘I should have just given him more hammer massage to the guy who tried to grope my chest without warning!’
I tried to twist my body to escape, but his restraining strength was stronger than I expected, befitting a trained soldier. In an instant, he grabbed my wrists and pinned me down.
