Overpowered Reincarnation Perks! - Chapter 2.5
“Hey, you lump of luggage.”
“Don’t talk to a lump of luggage and just rest, okay? I’m going to sleep too.”
“You’re going to sleep without washing up? And while getting your dirty smell all over my brother’s cloak? Good grief.”
I wish someone, anyone, would shut that jerk’s mouth.
Isn’t there a skill to silence this smart aleck?
The system window that usually goes crazy with alerts at the slightest thing is always quiet at times like this, huh?
Ally [Callion] has left the encampment!
There are no allies waiting within 10m in all directions.
The encampment construction skill is canceled.
No, not this kind of thing!
As I glared at the system window, a familiar window popped up with a mechanical cuckoo sound, as if mocking me.
[The lazy hero again]
You’ve spent too much time in the shelter.
In 40 seconds, the shelter will collapse.
You crazy thing, spending a long time! It hasn’t even been 5 minutes since we entered!
I felt like going mad and jumping up and down from the injustice, but the damned system window faithfully started the countdown.
39 seconds. 38 seconds. 37 seconds……
I quickly opened all the windows I had minimized.
First, my skill, the encampment construction status window.
[Condition 2. At least one ally waiting within 10m in all directions
-
- Currently, there are no allies nearby. Skill activation impossible]
Next was Senes’s party invitation window which I had been trying to ignore.
[Do you want to accept the party invitation?]
There’s no choice. I’d rather not have another cave collapse and trigger my PTSD.
‘Accept! Accept the party!’
As I shouted internally, the (1/1) of waiting members disappeared, and a new window popped up with a mean notification sound.
[Ally [Senes] has joined your party.]
As the conditions were met, the encampment construction button was activated in the original skill window.
[Construct encampment]
When I pressed the button, the skill deployed, and green grid lines were drawn on the cave walls. Just like creating a blueprint.
Then, with a ding sound, the [The lazy hero again] window that had appeared earlier flashed.
[Quest canceled]
This shelter has been confirmed as your encampment.
Unless the encampment receives physical attacks from enemies that exceed its defense, it will not collapse.
A newly changed notice appeared at the bottom, the countdown stopped, and the window closed.
‘……I’m saved.’
It seems the encampment only collapses when it receives enemy attacks, and not from sudden quests or the like.
I sighed in relief while stroking my chest. I felt like I aged ten years.
“What are you panting about while just sitting there? Are you having trouble breathing?”
The jerk spoke up again abruptly.
If you don’t know the situation, just keep quiet, will you?
“I was just worried the cave might collapse.”
“……Hah, really.”
The jerk snorted.
“No common sense but a rich imagination, I see. Why would a perfectly fine cave collapse? It’s not like we’re under monster attack or there’s an earthquake. Callion would have checked everything thoroughly……”
“The last time, a cave collapsed and I almost died being buried.”
“……”
The jerk’s mouth closed. Looking at his face, he seemed a bit surprised.
Sensing an opportunity, I told him about the situation a few days ago when the cave collapsed.
I felt a bit sorry for Callion, but it wasn’t a lie.
“The cave that I thought was safe suddenly collapsed, and as soon as I ran out, I encountered monsters and almost died. I guess I got scared remembering that time.”
“……”
“But well, looking at it now, it doesn’t seem like it will collapse. Senes, you’re right.”
After saying everything I wanted to say, I ended the conversation with an irrefutable closing remark like ‘Yeah yeah, I’ll admit you’re right~~~’, but Senes’s expression turned serious.
What’s this? Don’t tell me he’s worried the cave might collapse?
He doesn’t seem to have enough conscience to feel guilty about speaking rudely to me.
“……Ju-in.”
“What is it?”
After calling my name, Senes didn’t say anything.
He just closed his mouth and stared at me.
Afraid he might say something tactless again if I pressed, I didn’t urge him to continue.
The surroundings were quiet. The sun had set and it was dark all around, but strangely, Senes’s golden eyes shone brightly.
“Callion is back.”
“Huh?”
At Senes’s words, I lifted my head to look outside the cave and saw a white figure in the distance.
Probably because he rushed to bathe and come back, Callion’s appearance seemed even more moist as his hair wasn’t fully dry.
Hurray for wet handsome men.
Before Callion could say anything, Senes stood up.
Saying he’d go wash up, Senes switched places with Callion and swiftly went outside.
It seemed like he was about to say something, but I don’t know why he just left. I wasn’t curious enough to follow and ask though.
Callion was calling me anyway.
“Ju-in. I’ve brought water for you to bathe.”
“What? You brought bath water?”
Callion put down a water container on the ground.
It looked a bit different from the usual water containers I’d seen when drinking water.
Sure enough, when I pressed the dark green magic stone attached to the side, the container suddenly grew much larger.
‘Wow…… Is it under some kind of expansion magic? The opposite effect of an inventory?’
When Callion was holding it, it was about the size of a water bottle, but when enlarged, it grew to about the size of a small inflatable pool that children play in.
It’s not spacious enough to be a comfortable bathtub, but it’s big enough to sit in and soak your body.
“Please get in, Ju-in.”
“……Are you telling me to wash here?”
Wash here? Now?
I mean, I’m grateful for bringing the water, but!
“I’ve confirmed that there are currently no monsters near the spring, but I can’t say it’s perfectly safe. I couldn’t send you alone to the spring… Please understand, even if it’s inconvenient.”
“Ah, no. I understand the situation.”
To be honest, I wanted to wash up a bit too.
I don’t know if it’s because my senses are dull after coming back to life, or if this newly acquired body has synchronized with this world, but I hardly smelled of sweat. Still, not taking my daily bath made me feel uneasy mentally.
‘The problem is that Callion is here with me.’
As I stood still, looking hesitant, Callion made a small “Ah” sound and nodded as if he understood what I was concerned about.
Callion gathered some branches and quickly made a frame, then took out a large cloth from his inventory and hung it over to create a screen.
“I’ll be guarding the entrance. Don’t worry.”
He’s saying he won’t watch me bathe, so I can wash up without concern.
Once again, I felt a warmth in my chest, like it was filling with warm water, at Callion’s protective and considerate attitude.
Callion is such a polite, well-mannered, and principled knight-like man, while his brother is… well, let’s not go there.
I entered behind the screen and started unbuttoning my clothes.
It was a bit embarrassing to undress in a space where a man was just on the other side of a single piece of cloth.
