Prey (Lee Seohan) - Chapter 100
After hanging up, Jeonghan turned around. His broad shoulders, collarbone, and well-defined muscles made up a strong torso that came into Suhyeon’s view.
“I’ll order some room service. You go ahead and shower. We’ll eat and leave.”
Without waiting for an answer, he stood up from the bed and walked away, his movements as graceful as a statue. Watching his back, Suhyeon wrapped herself in a bathrobe and stood up to follow him.
“I’m going alone.”
He stopped walking and turned to look at her. Suhyeon, still in the bathrobe, met his gaze directly.
“You don’t need to come.”
“…..”
Without saying a word, Jeonghan continued to watch her. Suhyeon tried to walk past him.
Just as she was about to pass him and head for the bathroom, Jeonghan grabbed her wrist.
Suhyeon froze and looked up, only to find him holding her face and pulling her into a kiss.
Ah.
His soft lips were instantly pressed against hers.
Jeonghan kissed her deeply and then released her.
As their lips parted with a soft sound, Suhyeon found herself staring into his dark, intense eyes up close. Her face flushed red, and as she swallowed nervously, Jeonghan lowered his gaze before slowly pulling her lips back into his.
“Hmm…”
Jeonghan held her face, tilting his head, and kissed her again, his lips parting as he deepened the kiss. The entangling of their tongues made their breaths grow heated.
A few times, their lips met and parted, but the movements, though passionate, weren’t rough.
…Sigh.
As their lips parted again, warm breaths escaped between them. Suhyeon’s eyes trembled slightly under the weight of his intense gaze.
“I need to shower, let me go.”
Turning her flushed face away, Suhyeon twisted her body and pulled herself free from his grasp.
Jeonghan watched her, silently, as she hastily retreated towards the bathroom, her bare back exposed to him.
When Suhyeon finished her shower and dried her hair, she emerged to find a case with the black suit and shoes Manager Joo had brought, neatly placed on the sofa.
After glancing at it for a moment, Suhyeon approached the table where Jeonghan was sitting.
A simple meal from room service was laid out on the table.
Jeonghan, who had been focused on his tablet, set it aside and gestured towards the table.
“Sit.”
Suhyeon quietly sat across from Jeonghan.
The warm bread, egg dish, bacon, and a bit of fruit on the plate made her stomach growl with hunger.
Though she had eaten earlier, Jeonghan had kept her distracted even while she was eating. Perhaps it was the exhaustion from being drained for the past two days, but Suhyeon felt hungry again. She picked up her juice glass, took a sip, and then reached for the bread.
“Aren’t you eating?”
Realizing she was eating alone, Suhyeon asked Jeonghan.
He had only been sipping his coffee, but he picked up an olive and brought it to his lips, never breaking eye contact with her.
Suhyeon lowered her gaze to avoid his intense stare, cutting the bread as she spoke.
“Um…”
Jeonghan, still holding his coffee cup, looked at her.
When Suhyeon met his gaze again, he set the coffee cup down with a soft clink.
“Speak.”
Jeonghan continued to watch her, his face expressionless and cold. After a brief moment of hesitation, Suhyeon finally spoke.
“That trial…”
Even as Suhyeon mentioned the trial, there was not a flicker of emotion on Jeonghan’s face.
“You deliberately lost, didn’t you?”
“…..”
He met her gaze in silence, not responding.
Watching his expression intently, Suhyeon continued.
“That’s why you smiled at the end, right? Because you let me win. You intentionally lost the trial, and I was happy… You thought it was funny.”
“No.”
At his response, Suhyeon’s eyes widened slightly.
“Not funny?”
She asked, puzzled, but Jeonghan kept his gaze fixed on her, his expression serious.
“It is funny, but not for the reason you think.”
Suhyeon furrowed her brows.
“See, I knew it…”
“No. Not Seol Suhyeon. Me.”
“Pardon?”
Suhyeon blinked in confusion, unable to understand what he was saying.
“I was the one who found it funny.”
Jeonghan’s expression remained unchanged.
His words, coming from that same face and those lips, left Suhyeon confused.
Did Jeonghan find it funny?
Even at the moment of the verdict, he hadn’t shown any sign of surprise, as if he had expected everything. He had simply smiled when their eyes met, without breaking his steady gaze.
“What do you mean? Why would you…?”
