Prey (Lee Seohan) - Chapter 102
‘Why is Do Jeonghan here?’
She was so startled because she hadn’t imagined he would be at the hospital.
‘Could he be trying to do something to my mom…?’
Her expression hardened, and she started to walk straight in, but then stopped again.
If he found out she had come here, he might move her mother to another hospital without warning. If he got angry, he might even move her to a place she could never find.
Someone like Do Jeonghan would definitely do that.
Caught in hesitation, she continued watching the scene inside. That’s when she noticed what he was holding in one hand.
‘Flowers?’
Suhyeon’s eyes wavered.
She often saw flowers she didn’t recognize arranged in her mother’s room during her visits. She had no idea who had been bringing them, but the flowers in his hand were identical to those that had been placed in her mother’s room.
Her heart began to pound with unease.
Then, Jeonghan, who had been quietly gazing down at the bed, extended his hand.
“!”
Even as she watched the large hand clasp the frail one, Suhyeon couldn’t believe the scene unfolding before her eyes.
For a long moment, Jeonghan remained still, his lips finally parting to release a low voice.
“Even if it’s hard, please hold on a little longer.”
His face was heavy with an unfamiliar gravity.
Suhyeon stood frozen, not even daring to breathe, as she watched him.
“Even just a little longer…”
His words trailed off as he furrowed his brows and let out a deep sigh.
“Seol Suhyeon needs at least one place where she can feel at home, doesn’t she?”
“!”
Hearing his subdued, almost sorrowful tone, Suhyeon staggered back a step.
‘What… what did I just hear?’
Why was Do Jeonghan saying something like that?
With a face drained of color, she turned away, like someone fleeing after seeing something they shouldn’t have. She ran away in a daze.
Now, as she recalled that moment, the bouquet by Oh Kyung-hee’s urn was unmistakably the same as the one she had seen in her mother’s hospital room back then strikingly vibrant and alive.
‘Why did Do Jeonghan move my mom’s hospital back then?’
If it wasn’t to torment me…
Wouldn’t deliberately moving her hospital be more trouble than it’s worth?
And to go out of his way to hide it?
Was there a reason he needed to keep it a secret?
From whom?
“You knew I’d come here, didn’t you?”
“……!”
A sudden voice startled Suhyeon, and she turned around.
It was Seol Hee-nam.
“Why are you here…?”
Suhyeon’s expression hardened. What justification could Seol Hee-nam possibly have for visiting the columbarium on Oh Kyung-hee’s memorial day?
Even in death, there was no way Oh Kyung-hee would want to see him.
Walking toward her with an irritated tone, Seol Hee-nam said,
“I’ve been waiting here for a while, and then you show up with Do Jeonghan? Do you have any idea how furious that made me?”
As he approached, Suhyeonglared at him.
“You were waiting for me? You?”
She let out a humorless laugh at the absurdity of his claim, but then Seol Hee-nam pulled something sharp and gleaming from his jacket.
A knife…!
Suhyeon’s eyes widened.
Seol Hee-nam grinned, his lips curling up menacingly as he pointed the sharp blade directly at Suhyeon.
“It was a good thing you didn’t leave. After all, we ended up meeting like this.”
With a cruel laugh, he held the gleaming blade, and Suhyeon swallowed hard before speaking.
“Are you planning to threaten me with that? To demand alimony?”
“Threaten you? Oh, does it look like that?”
Seol Hee-nam laughed as if amused.
Suhyeon swallowed another tense breath and glared at him.
“I didn’t want to do this either. But since you won’t listen to me, what choice do I have?”
With a smile still on his face, Seol Hee-nam brought the blade even closer to her.
“I have to take your money like this. It’s the only way I can survive.”
His smile twisted into something horrifying like that of a malevolent spirit.
This man is insane.
With a nervous glance, Suhyeon looked behind him.
Through the bushes, she could see the columbarium building in the distance.
Do Jeonghan was inside that building.
If she screamed here…
Too far.
Suhyeon bit her lip in frustration. She was too close to Seol Hee-nam to scream for help.
And from the way he looked, it seemed like he would be willing to harm even his own daughter to get what he wanted.
Seeing no hesitation in his eyes, she was certain of it.
Suhyeon tried to focus, forcing herself to think clearly.
She needed to buy time.
For now, the best thing she could do was stall until someone showed up.
Staring at Seol Hee-nam, she parted her dry lips and spoke.
“Do you really think… that kind of threat will work on me?”
Seol Hee-nam chuckled mockingly.
“You’ve threatened me with a knife before, haven’t you?”
“That was because you threatened to hurt my mother…”
“Stop talking nonsense.”
The smile disappeared from his face as he stared at her. She could see his grip tighten around the knife.
“Where is it? The money.”
