Prey (Lee Seohan) - Chapter 105
Suhyeon said she was fine, but on the way, Jeonghan went to his personal physician to show him the wound on her neck.
It was just a small cut, but Suhyeon felt embarrassed that the renowned Dr. Oh Heung-jun had been called.
Dr. Oh was the personal physician of Chairman Do Pil-yong and now serves as Jeonghan’s personal physician.
Dr. Oh recognized Suhyeon when he saw her.
“It’s been a while.”
“How have you been?”
Dr. Oh had seen Suhyeon a few times back when Chairman Do Pil-yong was alive.
While Dr. Oh examined her wound, Jeonghan stood next to her, watching intently with a serious expression.
After a moment of examination, Dr. Oh spoke.
“The wound isn’t deep, so it should be fine with simple disinfection and dressing. Nothing to worry about, Manager Park.”
“Yes, Doctor.”
A nurse nearby immediately began preparing for disinfection.
Dr. Oh rose from his seat and spoke to Jeonghan.
“Well, I have a surgery scheduled soon, so I’ll take my leave now, Director.”
“Thank you, Doctor.”
Hearing the words “nothing to worry about,” the tension eased slightly from Jeonghan’s face as he thanked Dr. Oh. However, noticing Jeonghan’s still pale complexion, Dr. Oh gave a faint smile.
“It’s nothing.”
Dr. Oh shifted his gaze to Suhyeon.
“It was nice to see you again after a long time. Take care and get treated properly.”
“Yes, thank you.”
After exchanging farewells with Suhyeon, Dr. Oh left the treatment room.
Suhyeon sighed with relief inwardly.
‘So, he didn’t ask why I got hurt.’
Given that he was a doctor, she thought he might find the wound on her neck suspicious, but thankfully, Dr. Oh didn’t ask anything.
Perhaps it was because he had been serving as the physician for the Cheonkyung family for a long time.
One of the reasons Suhyeon had been hesitant to come was the discomfort of possibly being asked at the hospital why she got hurt.
Feeling reassured, Suhyeon let out a small sigh and spoke to Jeonghan.
“See? It was just a minor injury……”
“…….”
Even though she felt embarrassed for making a fuss over a small wound, Jeonghan silently watched with a serious expression as her wound was disinfected.
After finishing the treatment, they got into Chief Manager Joo’s waiting car and returned to Suhyeon’s house.
Jeonghan rode the elevator with her and followed her all the way to her front door.
At the door, Suhyeon stopped walking. She lifted her head to look at him and spoke again.
“Thank you… for today.”
She meant it sincerely.
The thought of what could have happened if Jeonghan hadn’t shown up earlier was horrifying.
Jeonghan stared at Suhyeon and spoke in a low voice.
“Take the day off from work tomorrow.”
“It’s fine. The hospital said it was just a minor wound.”
“Even so.”
He spoke in a calm tone, his deep eyes gazing down at her.
When his hand touched her cheek, Suhyeon froze.
“Listen to me.”
Jeonghan gently stroked her cheek.
“……”
Meeting his gaze, filled with concern, Suhyeon lowered her eyes.
“Then, I’ll go inside now.”
Turning away as if to escape his touch and gaze, Suhyeon entered her house.
Click.
Jeonghan stood silently, staring at the closed door.
The moment when he had gone to find Suhyeon at the columbarium, only to see her being threatened with a knife, flashed in his mind.
Clench.
His eyes grew intense, and his fists clenched tightly.
“……”
His eyebrows twisted fiercely as his hand balled into a solid fist, almost as if he wanted to crush something.
The heart-stopping shock from that moment still lingered.
The overwhelming sense of fear.
The terror of possibly losing her made it hard to breathe.
Frowning deeply, he brought a hand to his neck, took a long breath, and stepped into the elevator.
Bang!
As the doors closed, Jeonghan slammed his fist hard against the wall.
…That bastard dared to lay a hand on Seol Suhyeon.
His eyes, reddened with fury, glared into empty space.
Descending to the parking lot, he stepped out of the elevator, pulling out his phone.
-“Where are you?”
Jeonghan spoke into his phone as he exited the main entrance.
From a car parked on one side of the parking lot, the head of security stepped out.
-“Over here, Director.”
Jeonghan lowered the hand holding his phone and walked over. As he approached with a stern expression, the security chief moved to stand by the car where he had been keeping watch.
Standing directly in front of the security chief, Jeonghan looked him squarely in the eye and gave his instructions.
“Increase the security detail for Seol Suhyeon. Ensure maximum close protection.”
“Did something happen today? I heard you went to the hospital,”
The security chief asked, carefully observing Jeonghan’s expression.
Earlier, while waiting at the hospital, Chief Manager Joo had mentioned notifying the security team and increasing personnel, but Jeonghan had decided to handle it personally. Because of this, the security team was still unaware of what had happened to Seol Suhyeon.
“Seol Hee-nam threatened Seol Suhyeon with a knife at the columbarium,”
Jeonghan stated.
“Ah… I see,”
The security chief replied, frowning deeply.
Since Do Jeonghan and Chief Manager Joo were both present, the security team hadn’t followed them all the way into the columbarium grounds, creating an unexpected security gap. The security chief bowed his head, his face heavy with regret.
“My apologies. We were negligent in our duties.”
“It’s fine. Just make sure something like this doesn’t happen again,”
Jeonghan responded firmly.
“Yes. I’ll make sure to take care of it,”
The security chief replied, bowing his head again.
Watching him for a moment, Jeonghan turned on his heel.
As he walked toward the car where Chief Manager Joo was waiting, Joo quickly stepped out to open the door for him.
Standing before the car, Jeonghan spoke coldly to Joo.
“Get Jang Gyu-han ready.”
