Prey (Lee Seohan) - Chapter 110
Suhyeon flinched at the vibration of the phone on her desk. She snapped back to reality and looked at the phone screen.
It was Choi Woo-rim.
Suhyeon blinked and answered the call.
“Yes, senior.”
A bright voice came through the phone.
– “I just got back from a business trip. Are you free today? I was thinking we could have a meal together.”
“Today? Sure.”
* * * * *
Though Suhyeon’s mind was in turmoil, she answered immediately, thinking about returning the favor for the meal he had treated her to before.
“Is something bothering you?”
“…Sorry?”
Suhyeon lifted her head at Woo-rim’s voice and saw his smiling face in front of her.
“You’ve been looking worried the whole time.”
“Ah, I’m sorry.”
Feeling that she hadn’t been focusing well on the conversation, Suhyeon apologized.
Even though she was with someone else, Jeonghan’s burning voice wouldn’t leave her mind.
Seeing Suhyeon’s apologetic expression, Woo-rim smiled, as if it didn’t bother him.
“I didn’t mean to make you apologize. I was just wondering if something happened. You seem a bit different since I got back from the trip.”
“I’ve had some things to think about. Sorry, senior.”
“There’s nothing to apologize for, really. It’s good if there’s nothing wrong. I was just worried.”
Woo-rim was casually twirling pasta with his fork, completely unbothered.
Watching him, Suhyeon let out a small sigh.
Even so, she knew it was wrong to be lost in her thoughts while someone was right in front of her.
“Your business trip was to Italy, right? Over there…”
As Suhyeon tried to focus on the conversation and ask a question, Woo-rim’s eyes widened as he was twirling the pasta.
“Eh?”
With a surprised look on his face, he was staring at something, and Suhyeon followed his gaze.
From a distance, Jeonghan, dressed in a suit, was walking towards them.
“!”
Suhyeon’s eyes widened.
Why is he here…?
While Suhyeon was looking at him with a shocked expression, Jeonghan walked straight toward her, maintaining eye contact.
When Jeonghan reached their table, Woo-rim stood up first with a smiling face and greeted him.
“It’s been a while, Director. Ah, I mean, you’re Executive Director now, right?”
Jeonghan coldly glanced at Woo-rim’s hand, which was extended for a handshake, then shifted his gaze to Suhyeon.
“Was it Choi Woo-rim?”
With his cold gaze still fixed on him, Suhyeon inhaled sharply. However, she didn’t avert her gaze and stared back at him, as if saying she had no intention
of looking away.
She had been shocked by his confession yesterday, but the situation hadn’t changed.
He was still hiding everything, and if he deliberately showed up here, she had no intention of playing along.
Woo-rim, with a surprised expression, spoke to Jeonghan.
“That’s correct. You have a good memory. We only met once a few years ago at a social gathering.”
Jeonghan’s gaze slowly shifted from Suhyeon to Woo-rim. His piercing eyes locked onto Woo-rim.
“You seem to have a lot of business with another man’s wife… unnecessarily.”
Woo-rim’s eyes widened at Jeonghan’s cold tone.
“Pardon?”
Clunk.
Suhyeon quickly stood up from her seat.
“Wife? We’re divorced…”
“The woman you were rolling around with in the hotel two weeks ago—wasn’t she your wife?”
“…!”
Suhyeon’s eyes went wide. Jeonghan looked directly into her confused eyes and spoke.
“I thought she was your wife.”
“W-what?”
Jeonghan let out a short laugh as he looked at Suhyeon, who was at a loss for words.
“Oh, the s-x partner you mentioned? Was that her?”
“Do Jeonghan!”
Suhyeon shouted at him, glaring.
Woo-rim, with a startled expression, was alternating his gaze between the two of them.
“Ah, I…?”
Before he could intervene, Jeonghan’s low voice came out.
“I told you I’m not going to play along.”
Jeonghan, with eyes filled with fury, looked at Suhyeon and grabbed her arm.
“What are you doing…! Let go of me!”
Jeonghan tried to drag her away.
At that moment, Woo-rim stepped in between them.
“Wait a minute, Do Jeonghan.”
Jeonghan stopped and looked at Woo-rim, who was standing in front of him.
Suhyeon’s gaze also turned to Woo-rim.
After glancing at her face once, Woo-rim mustered the courage to speak to Jeonghan.
“Isn’t Suhyeon feeling uncomfortable? Normally, this kind of behavior is… inappropriate.”
“Choi Woo-rim.”
Jeonghan’s low voice cut off Woo-rim’s words.
“Move aside.”
“!”
A murderous glare shot toward Woo-rim, causing him to flinch.
“Before I lose my temper.”
