Prey (Lee Seohan) - Chapter 115
Jeonghan continued speaking in a low and powerful voice without any change in his expression.
“Furthermore, the signing of an MOU for the development rights of Singapore and Southeast Asian hubs, as well as next-generation construction cooperation, is scheduled to be completed next month. This MOU, which was concluded separately from the power and renewable energy business contracts focused on exports with Russia, the UK, and the European Union earlier this year, has laid the groundwork to respond to the rapidly changing global situation.”
Once again, applause erupted.
Jeonghan waited calmly until the applause subsided, then looked around at the seated audience with unwavering eyes.
“As I promised on the first day I stood here, I will undoubtedly show you Cheonkyung rising to the top of the world stage in the near future. Thank you.”
As Jeonghan stepped down and returned to his seat, the applause did not cease.
Faces of the shareholders were filled with great expectations and joy, swelling their hearts. The executives were no different. The blueprint presented by Do
Jeonghan, which initially seemed absurd, was materializing at a terrifyingly rapid pace.
While some media outlets attempted to downplay the abilities of Do Jeonghan, the only grandson of Chairman Do Pilyong, who built this Cheonkyung, investors were the first to realize this was far from true.
Do Jeonghan was a natural-born risk-taker, capable of achieving even the dream of becoming a world-class company that Chairman Do Pilyong had aspired to but ultimately could not reach.
The skyrocketing stock prices compared to Chairman Do Pilyong’s era were proof of this fact.
After the general meeting, a man approached Jeonghan ahead of everyone else.
“Our Director Do Jeonghan, you’ve really worked hard. Truly excellent work.”
Jeonghan looked at the man in front of him, who was smiling warmly.
It was Do Cheoljun, the executive director and son of President Do Hanyong.
Do Hanyong, the younger brother of Chairman Do Pilyong, had passed away a few years earlier due to chronic illness.
Jeonghan also smiled at Do Cheoljun with his upright expression.
“It’s thanks to your support.”
Do Cheoljun glanced at the executives around him with a cheerful expression and said,
“Haha, what support could I have possibly given? Thanks to our Director Do Jeonghan, the future of Cheonkyung is bright. Isn’t that right?”
While the executives nodded in agreement, Do Cheoljun, who had been enthusiastically bobbing his head, turned his gaze to Jeonghan.
“Well, I have another appointment, so I’ll head out first. Let’s meet again next time. Keep up the good work.”
“Thank you.”
“No need for thanks.”
Do Cheoljun spoke warmly and laughed heartily as he turned to leave. Together with his secretary-general, Lee Yunbok, he exited the conference room.
As he moved quickly toward the elevator, someone called out to him from the side.
“Do Cheoljun.”
Do Cheoljun turned his gaze. It was Chairman Hwang, renowned as a major figure in Myeongdong.
Though he appeared to be an ordinary elderly man, he was reputed to have more liquidity than large corporations.
“Oh my, hello, Chairman. Are you leaving already? Did you get a chance to greet Director Do Jeonghan?”
Chairman Hwang smiled broadly.
“Of course, I did. I’ve never felt as good about investing in Cheonkyung as I do these days.”
“And who do you think deserves all the credit for that?”
“Who else? Our young successor, of course.”
Chairman Hwang smiled with eyes that didn’t hide his ambition, expressing his satisfaction.
Chairman Hwang was a born investment genius. Originally born in a rural backwater, he joined a gang due to his prowess in fistfights. Once he had saved up a certain amount of money, he plunged into real estate investment.
He had earned an astronomical fortune by investing in Gangnam during its rural days, long before it was developed.
Since then, he had invested in companies, land, hedge funds—anything he could get his hands on.
As per Do Hanyong’s advice that “the old man has a nose like a ghost for money,” the industry had a saying that wherever Chairman Hwang appeared, success would surely follow.
Do Cheoljun, flashing an overly bright and almost servile smile, bowed his head.
“That’s right. As long as Director Do Jeonghan is with us, we won’t falter. We look forward to your continued investments, Chairman.”
“Of course, of course. Don’t worry. I’m doing this to make money too.”
Chairman Hwang patted Do Cheoljun’s arm amicably and happily got into the elevator with his entourage.
After bowing deeply to send him off respectfully, Do Cheoljun entered the executive elevator with Secretary Lee and the other executives.
Thud.
As the door closed, the smile on Do Cheoljun’s face vanished as if it had never been there. Open displeasure flickered in his eyes.
