Prey (Lee Seohan) - Chapter 122
“Anyway, we can’t approve any more loans. If you don’t pay the interest by the end of this month, we’ll start collecting. Now, please leave.”
“What?! Hey! Hey! I’m not done talking, where are you going?! You better come back here right now, you bastard!!”
Seol Hee-nam shouted at the employee who walked away, shaking his head as he distanced himself from the office.
At that moment, a man approached Seol Hee-nam.
“Can we talk for a moment?”
Seol Hee-nam quickly turned his head toward the calm voice. A man in his forties, dressed in a neat suit, stood in front of him.
“Who are you?”
Seol Hee-nam squinted at the man.
The man smiled faintly, pulled out a wallet, and took out a business card which he handed to Seol Hee-nam.
“I overheard your conversation, and I think I might be able to help.”
Lee Yoon-bok, the secretary general of Executive Director Do Cheoljun, smiled subtly.
Inside the private room of the salon, expensive bottles of liquor were lined up on the table. Seol Hee-nam, holding a whiskey glass, was lounging on the sofa in a relaxed posture.
“Ha, this is the taste! I thought my tongue was rotting from all the cheap whiskey I had to drink, but now I’m finally drinking something good.”
After a long time, Seol Hee-nam was enjoying the high-quality whiskey. Back when he was doing well, he would spend millions, even tens of millions, in one night, drinking all sorts of expensive whiskey as though it was water. But now, with no money, he was treated like a second-rate customer at a room salon.
He couldn’t even see the young, firm women who used to sit next to him and flirt. Now, if he was lucky enough to get a cheap whiskey, even the older women would sit with a disapproving look on their faces. Every time that happened, Seol Hee-nam gritted his teeth.
“I’ll make sure I get money again, and I’ll make those b*****s lick the soles of my shoes. Damn them!”
The only places he could see money coming from now were Seol Suhyeon’s alimony and Cheonkyung, but Seol Suhyeon was hard to approach due to Do Jeonghan, and Do Jeonghan’s…
“Just thinking of that bastard makes the places he hit me still ache. Damn.”
Seol Hee-nam frowned as he touched his nose for no reason, then set the glass down on the table.
Plop.
He quietly glanced at the secretary, who was sipping his drink across from him, and then spoke.
“So, why is Cheonkyung’s person helping me?”
Seol Hee-nam narrowed his eyes. It was easy to accept expensive liquor when someone was treating, but he needed to figure out the ulterior motive behind it.
The secretary, with a neat face and a businesslike smile, addressed Seol Hee-nam.
“I overheard a bit earlier, and it seems that Cheonkyung’s support has already been cut off?”
“That’s right. That bastard…”
Seol Hee-nam interrupted himself, his face flushing with anger. He picked up his whiskey glass again and took a gulp.
Roughly wiping the alcohol from his mouth with the back of his hand, he continued,
“Do Jeonghan, that bastard, isn’t even human. He used to call me ‘father-in-law,’ pretending to be all generous, but now he’s completely silent, that son of a b-tch.”
“I know. It’s already famous in the industry.”
The secretary’s calm voice caught Seol Hee-nam’s attention again.
“You know? You mean he’s a real bastard?”
The secretary, refilling Seol Hee-nam’s glass with ice, said,
“There was a lot of talk when he suddenly showed up as the heir. There are even rumors that he’s the illegitimate child of Chairman Do.”
As the secretary filled his glass with whiskey, Seol Hee-nam arrogantly raised his glass, twisting his lips with a bitter grin.
“Tch, that wouldn’t be a surprise. Who knows how rotten that dirty family is?”
The secretary added,
“Your daughter must have had a hard time.”
Seol Hee-nam asked again, his eyes sharp with curiosity.
“Our Suhyeon?”
He nodded, his face a mixture of sorrow and disdain.
“Poor girl. She’s my daughter, but she’s pitiful. She was so desperate to keep her mother alive, she ended up selling herself to that bastard.”
The secretary adjusted his posture, now more attentive.
“Could you tell me more about that?”
Seol Hee-nam took another sip of whiskey, swirling it in his mouth before letting out a smug, bitter laugh.
“Do you want to hear it with nothing but my word?”
The secretary met his greedy eyes directly, unflinching.
Seol Hee-nam twisted his lips into a cynical grin.
“If you want to hear that story, then you must be hoping that Do Jeonghan steps down from Cheonkyung. That means you’re working with someone from the side of Do Cheoljun, right?”
