Prey (Lee Seohan) - Chapter 83
“Goodness, is this all…?”
There were more than ten expensive ring cases stacked carelessly.
‘Does he not like the rings?’
‘If he doesn’t like them, then he should buy something else.’
Suhyeon’s face paled as she recalled what Jeonghan had said.
“Th-That man isn’t sane.”
Flustered, Suhyeon fled out the front door.
“Ah.”
Before closing the door, a sudden thought made Suhyeon pause as she glanced
around.
She re-entered Jeonghan’s house and came out with a low, round ceramic piece that was displayed as interior decor in front of the entrance.
Thud.
She briefly set it in front of the door, then quickly went back inside her house to grab Do Jeonghan’s jacket.
Hanging the coat hanger on the doorknob of the inner door, she returned the ceramic piece to its original spot.
“…Now, this is the end of personal matters with him.”
Suhyeon murmured softly as she closed the door.
There won’t be any more entanglements with Do Jeonghan like this.
Suhyeon, who had made a vow to herself, unknowingly looked around as if she
were being chased and headed toward her house.
* * * * *
Jeonghan returned home after dinner time.
As he opened the door, he chuckled at the jacket hanging inside the entrance.
After looking for a moment, he grabbed the doorknob and shifted his gaze to the door of the next house.
“……”
After a brief pause, he took out his phone from his pocket and continued walking.
Beeeeep- Beeeep-
“!”
Suhyeon, who was lying on the sofa, was startled when she saw the name flashing on the ringing phone.
“Ugh……”
As she jumped up from the sofa, she winced at the pain between her thighs.
“Why would he call after doing this to me?”
Without a conscience.
Frowning, Suhyeon glared at the phone vibrating between the cushions of the sofa.
As if the phone were Do Jeonghan himself, she shoved it deep between the sofa cushions.
At that moment, the doorbell rang.
“!”
N-No way.
Suhyeon swallowed hard and walked over to check the intercom screen.
It was Do Jeonghan.
Seeing his handsome features on the screen, Suhyeon panicked and took a hesitant step back.
What should I do?
Biting her lip, Suhyeon nervously walked toward the front door. She pressed her ear against it and listened; it was quiet.
‘Has he left…?’
Knock, knock.
“!”
Suhyeon jumped at the sound of the knock. She quickly pulled her ear away from the door and stared at it with a tense expression.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
With the slow, deliberate knocking, Suhyeon’s face turned red as she didn’t know what to do.
What should I do? What am I going to do?
Suhyeon wandered around the entrance as if pacing.
No matter how she looked at it, it seemed like Do Jeonghan knew she was inside.
If she had known this would happen, she should have either answered the phone from the start or pretended not to be home. Suhyeon, who was regretfully gnawing at her lips, suddenly shook her head vigorously.
“No, that’s not right. Why should I be afraid of that man?”
Thinking about it made her feel wronged. She always felt like a hunted prey in front of Do Jeonghan.
Even now that they are divorced.
‘Yeah. I have nothing to lose now.’
Even if she had slept with Do Jeonghan, there was no reason to force herself to suppress all her emotions and endure like before.
That was why she had gotten divorced, so why had she become so weak?
Resolutely, Suhyeon steeled her heart, furrowed her brows, and opened the front door.
Standing at the door was Jeonghan, dressed in a suit.
“What do you want?”
Determined not to appear easygoing, Suhyeon crossed her arms over her chest and looked up at him.
Jeonghan slowly held the open door and looked down at her.
“Weren’t you pretending not to be here?”
The languid smile at the corner of his mouth somehow stung her pride, causing Suhyeon to respond curtly.
“I was ignoring you because I didn’t want to see you.”
Looking straight up at him, Jeonghan let out a low chuckle.
Suhyeon found herself gazing quietly at his handsome face, a faint smile spreading across it.
‘That smile doesn’t suit him at all…’
Do Jeonghan was a person who hardly ever smiled.
He wore a mask of a smile in front of people, but that was purely superficial.
A fake smile intended to portray a loving couple.
When it was just the two of them, it was rare to see his lips curve upward, except for when he let out a cold sneer.
‘But why is he smiling so much after the divorce? Now of all times.’
As Suhyeon was thinking this, her eyes narrowed in suspicion while Jeonghan opened the door he had been holding.
‘Huh?’
Seeing him enter, Suhyeon snapped back to reality and, startled, pushed him away.
“What are you doing? Why are you barging into someone else’s house…? Leave!”
