Prey (Lee Seohan) - Chapter 87
As Jeonghan stood up holding Suhyeon in a close embrace, he firmly grabbed her hips.
“Ugh.”
When Suhyeon, trembling, looked down, the ground seemed endlessly far below because of Jeonghan’s tall height. Suddenly, a wave of fear surged through her.
“Wrap your legs around my waist.”
“N-no, it’s dangerous like this…!”
Suhyeon spoke in surprise, but Jeonghan immediately thrust his hips up strongly.
“Ah! Aaah!”
Each time they were rocked up and down, an intense pleasure overwhelmed Suhyeon, and her reason quickly vanished. She clutched Jeonghan’s shoulders tightly and wrapped her legs around his waist.
“Hold on tighter. It’d be troublesome if you fell, right?”
“Y-you’re so… ugh!”
Jeonghan, as if enjoying Suhyeon clinging to him, let out a low breath and gripped her hips firmly. Without hesitation, he began rocking her vigorously.
Haah, haah!
As the force striking from below grew stronger, Suhyeon’s face turned entirely rosy. Jeonghan, lost in his own breaths, gazed intently at the disheveled Suhyeon.
…Damn.
With clenched teeth, Jeonghan, as if unable to hold back, straightened his hips and thrust upwards without mercy.
“Aah…!”
At the moment Suhyeon reached her peak, Jeonghan pulled her close as if to seize her completely.
“Seol Suhyeon.”
In the midst of an overwhelming climax, his hot breath and a low, pressed-down voice filled Suhyeon’s ear.
“…Seol Suhyeon.”
Why…?
Why are you calling me so desperately, after making such a mess of me…?
Yet, strangely, Do Jeonghan’s pained voice seemed to grip her heart tightly.
I don’t like it.
Suhyeon’s body flinched as she closed her eyes. For reasons she couldn’t understand, tears slowly traced down her cheeks.
* * * * *
After work, Suhyeon got out of her car and walked toward the shared entrance.
‘…Seol Suhyeon.’
She halted abruptly.
When the painfully sorrowful sound of Do Jeonghan’s voice echoed in her mind, she stopped in her tracks.
Standing still for a moment, Suhyeon furrowed her brows slightly and quickly walked on.
Thud!
Inside the elevator, Suhyeon irritably tapped her card key.
“Hah…”
She swept back her long bangs that had fallen into her face with frustration and exhaled deeply.
If only he had just kept treating me like the emotionless s-x doll I was for the past five years. Why is he confusing me like this…?
She was annoyed at herself for reacting so easily, but she was even angrier at Do Jeonghan’s incomprehensible behavior.
After stepping out of the elevator, Suhyeon headed straight for her front door but glanced at the neighboring unit.
Her gaze sharpened.
“What’s with constantly shaking people up and then disappearing?”
She glared at the empty doorway before stepping into her apartment and shutting the door behind her.
It seemed that Do Jeonghan had gone overseas for a business trip again.
Before Chairman Do Pil-yong’s death—no, back when the chairman was still in good health—Jeonghan didn’t travel abroad this frequently. While he occasionally had overseas assignments, his trips increased significantly after the chairman collapsed, and Jeonghan effectively took the position of the company’s leader.
During the final stages of our marriage, that was one small comfort.
At least I didn’t have to see him much while preparing for the divorce.
But now, for some reason, she felt stifled. She should’ve been relieved not to see him, but instead, she found herself replaying past events in her mind over and over again…
“…Ah.”
Frowning, Suhyeon stopped moving as she was taking off her jacket in the dressing room. Suddenly, she recalled Chairman Do’s funeral.
That day, the sight of Do Jeonghan standing as the chief mourner came to mind.
Since it was a formal occasion, Suhyeon had been there with him. Countless people from the political, business, legal, and entertainment worlds came to pay their respects. Do Jeonghan greeted the steady stream of visitors without the slightest sign of faltering.
She had thought, That’s so typical of Do Jeonghan. Even after standing upright all day, he didn’t show a hint of fatigue.
Although Chairman Do was elderly, his sudden passing had been unexpected considering his usual state of health. Yet, Jeonghan didn’t seem deeply shocked. He simply carried out his role with composure, as expected of him.
By the time the first day came to a close and midnight approached, the funeral hall had become quieter as most people left.
Standing in the now sparse room, Suhyeonwas gently massaging the back of her neck when Jeonghan spoke to her.
“You don’t need to stay here. Go home and rest for a bit.”
“I’m fine. I’m not tired…”
“Just do it.”
Jeonghan looked at her directly. Suhyeon, meeting his gaze, eventually relented.
“…Alright.”
Would my presence make things even more uncomfortable?
Thinking that might be the case, Suhyeon took the chauffeur’s car back home. She rested at home for a few hours and then returned to the funeral hall before dawn.
She felt it was only right to be there and hold her place before the visitors started arriving again.
As she stepped out into the spacious parking lot of the funeral hall and walked toward the entrance, she saw a man bathed in the faint light of dawn.
Do Jeonghan…?
Through the parked cars, she noticed the black suit and the mourning band on his arm.
It’s him.
When Suhyeonlooked more closely, she saw that he seemed to be smoking a cigarette by himself.
Seeing this, she hesitated for a moment.
