Prey - Chapter 30
Thank you for your hard work. Go home and rest.
Those were the words Jeonghan had said when he dropped her off at the parking lot.
It felt strange, as if he wanted to make sure it was just a business trip.
On the way back in his car that day, she had worried about what would happen if she brought up the previous day’s events. But now, as he dropped her off without saying anything, it oddly made her anxious.
It’s better to pretend it didn’t happen.
What happened was probably just a mistake caused by the drinks they had that day, and she had also made a mistake by being swept away in the moment.
And the reason he caressed her lips even after being slapped…
Let’s stop thinking about it.
Suhyeon shook her head.
It was annoying to keep replaying that moment throughout the week.
Suhyeon, leaving the vanity, picked up her tote bag and headed towards the entrance.
Click.
As she opened the front door, her gaze fell forward.
Dressed in a sharp suit, Jeonghan was looking at her.
“!”
After a brief pause, she composed herself and greeted him.
“Hello.”
Suhyeon walked towards the elevator, greeting him as she would a business partner when he had dropped her off.
As she stepped into the elevator with the doors just opened, Jeonghan followed her in.
Thud.
The doors closed, and the elevator began to descend.
In the silence that filled the space, Suhyeon stared at the changing numbers on the panel.
A man leaned lazily against the back wall of the elevator, reflected in the door.
His posture was relaxed, but his gaze still made people tense.
Ha… ugh, stop, ugh.
“!”
The scene of their rough kiss and her desperate moans flashed in her mind, causing Suhyeon’s eyes to tremble slightly.
Don’t think about it.
As she tried to erase that scene from her mind, Suhyeon tightened her grip on her tote bag.
She clenched her jaw and looked straight ahead, noticing his gaze fixated on her finger.
…Huh.
Suhyeon inhaled sharply. Unknowingly, she bawled her hand into a fist to hide her fingers.
Surely he’s not going to grab my hand again…
A wave of tension crept up her spine.
Ding-
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Suhyeon stepped out immediately. Without looking back, she headed straight for her car.
Thud!
After getting into the car, she closed the door.
Ha, ha.
Why was she breathing like this…?
It was only then that Suhyeon realized she had fled to the car as if running away.
I really hate this.
Suhyeon frowned, wrapping her hand around her forehead. She still felt like a prey being hunted by Do Jeonghan, making her heart uneasy and irritated.
I decided not to be swayed.
Despite making that resolution, she lost her composure whenever she stood in front of Do Jeonghan.
All because of that kiss.
It annoyed her that after doing far worse things over the past five years, she had shown herself running away from Jeonghan just because of one kiss.
Ha.
Suhyeon sighed as her empty ring finger caught her attention like a weakness.
Grinding her teeth, Suhyeon started the car.

“How can you live like this? Is this even a place where people live?!”
Seol Hana complained, surrounded by unpacked moving boxes piled up in the small space.
Park In-ok spoke to her soothingly.
“Hana, just hold on a little longer until your father’s business gets better. It should improve soon.”
“It’s been years already! We keep moving to smaller places, and now we’ve crawled into this tiny one? What is Seol Suhyeon even doing?!”
Seol Hana glared at Park In-ok with a face full of frustration.
After living in a 200-pyeong country house in that famous neighborhood in Gangnam because of
Seol Suhyeon’s marriage, living in a house that was only 20-pyeong felt like being trapped in a cage.
It was suffocating.
Moreover, the moving company hadn’t even properly organized the moving boxes, leaving clothes and bags piled up in the already small room to the point that there was barely any space to step.
Park In-ok gently comforted her daughter with a soft expression.
“Your father went to meet Seol Suhyeon today, so he should be bringing back money soon.”
“What?”
Seol Hana’s eyes sparkled with anticipation.
“Are they meeting today?”
“Yeah.”
Park In-ok smiled. Finding Seol Suhyeon had been quite a challenge, but they had finally managed to discover her whereabouts, and her husband was on his way to meet her.
“Oh, that’s a relief!”
A bright smile spread across Seol Hana’s face.
The astronomical amount of alimony.
No one in this house was unaware of that fact.
