Prey - Chapter 43
Suhyeon had a troubled night.
She had nightmares, alternating between dreams where Do Jeonghan entered and mixed with her in a lascivious manner, and memories of the times he had forcefully violated her during their marriage.
In the dreams, he violated her without mercy.
No, in fact, it wasn’t her being violated.
In the dream, she clung to Do Jeonghan as if to relieve her body’s unfulfilled desires from the previous night.
“Ha, ha… Ah, ah…! Please, please… just…!”
Tight!
Suhyeon, while brushing her teeth, held the toothbrush in one hand and tightly closed her eyes.
She recalled herself fervently spreading her legs toward Do Jeonghan in that dream.
“I’m not in my right mind.”
Just like the previous night at his house, she shook her hips with even more desperation.
Please, do it more.
With her eyes tightly shut, Suhyeon took a deep breath and opened her eyes again.
She stared straight at her reflection in the mirror.
“That’s just a conditioned reflex.”
It has nothing to do with my feelings.
“Yeah. It’s just a habit ingrained in me for five years. It’s just a physical reaction.”
Suhyeon thought, as if injecting this into herself one after another.
Having gasped under Do Jeonghan every day during their marriage, there was no way to avoid it. It was impossible not to be trained.
The desperate justification she pieced together was more effective than she expected.
By completely separating her body’s reactions from her mind, she felt a little more at ease.
…Haah.
Suhyeon let out a long breath and was finally able to continue getting ready for work.
She finished preparing, carefully avoiding letting that thought come back into her mind, and quickly opened the front door.
Creeeak—
Suhyeon’s slightly tense face peeked out beyond the door.
…Thank goodness. No one’s there.
There was no one in the hallway. Suhyeon walked forward with a relieved expression, holding her large jacket.
She hung Do Jeonghan’s jacket on the doorknob and turned her body around.
Clack.
“Huh?”
Suhyeon looked down at the strange sensation under her feet.
As she moved her shoes aside, she saw something sparkling on the floor.
Ah, yesterday…
It was the ring that she had thrown, leaving a mark on Do Jeonghan’s cheek.
Since then, being drawn into him, she had completely forgotten about it.
Suhyeon bent down to pick up the ring.
Looking back, she walked again to the front door of Do Jeonghan’s house. She slipped the ring into the pocket of the jacket she had hung up.
“This should be fine.”
As she briefly checked for any signs from inside the door, Suhyeon quickly walked toward the elevator that had just arrived.
After working late and finishing her shift, Suhyeon found the jacket still hanging on the front door of his house.
“Is he not home?”
Suhyeon raised her gaze to look at the front door.
At the very least, it meant that Do Jeonghan had left the house before she hung it up that morning.
Her gaze shifted back to the large jacket.
It must be an expensive piece.
Moreover, it probably contained an even more expensive diamond ring inside.
After a moment of hesitation, Suhyeon let out a short sigh and picked up the jacket.
“There always seems to be an unnecessary day.”
Since she couldn’t just leave the jacket hanging in an empty house, Suhyeon had no choice but to bring it back home for now.
When she hung the jacket on the hanger in her dressing room, the events of that day came to mind reflexively.
In an instant, Suhyeon’s face turned bright red.
“Whether someone steals it or not, it would be better to just leave it at that man’s house…”
As she pulled the hanger out quickly, her tweed jacket’s pocket vibrated.
Suhyeon stopped her movement and took out her phone.
“!”
Her eyes widened at the name of Do Jeonghan displayed on the screen.
‘Why is he calling…?’
It was the first time he had called her.
Suhyeon swallowed hard, her face tense, and quickly hung the hanger back up.
She cleared her throat as she exited the dressing room and answered the phone.
“Yes, this is Seol Suhyeon.”
-I’m in England.
A low voice came through immediately.
“Ah… yes.”
-I’ll be on a business trip for a while.
So that’s why the house was empty. Had he left for England in the early morning?
Since she couldn’t just leave the jacket hanging in the ownerless house, she had no choice but to take it back home for now.
As she hung the jacket on the hanger in her dressing room, the events of that day reflexively came to mind.
In an instant, Suhyeon’s face flushed bright red.
Even with those thoughts, Suhyeon didn’t know how to react. Just hearing his voice made heat rush to her cheeks.
“What’s the reason for your call?”
Knowing it was a meaningless thing to do, Suhyeon asked in a businesslike tone, as if this was the only way to protect herself.
-It looks like my business trip will be quite long.
“You don’t have to report that to me…”
She deliberately let a hint of sharpness creep into her voice, but Do Jeonghan cut her off.
-That day was my mistake.
“…What?”
Suhyeon’s eyes widened.
