Contrary to Seria’s hopes, the sky darkened quickly. Due to the effects of the curse, Lucas’s complexion, which had been pale in the morning, grew even paler as the night set in.

After dinner, Lucas returned to his bedroom early, bathed, and draped himself in a robe. He lay on the bed with a blindfold over his eyes, as Seria had requested him to cover them tightly, claiming it would make the woman less embarrassed.

“Ha… this is driving me crazy.”

The dim glow of a single lamp illuminated the bedroom. Lying neatly with his hands resting on his stomach, Lucas exhaled a deep sigh and tried to calm his tumultuous thoughts.

Ever since his parents passed away when he came of age, he had inherited the title of duke and had no time to concern himself with such matters. Later, as he worked to solidify his position, he rejected all marriage proposals.

To uphold the honor of a paladin, he avoided any lighthearted romances. As a result, Duke Lucas had remained a pure, one-hundred-percent virgin.

In truth, many paladins secretly met women. The vow of chastity was only meaningful when sworn at the temple. Noblemen of his age, unable to suppress their youthful desires, often met women in secret and even attended scandalous parties held at private estates.

After all, the title of paladin was little more than an honorable facade for young noblemen. Lucas didn’t have to keep his vows so strictly, but he had wanted to stay pure until marriage, as dictated by the scriptures.

But what was the point of such ideals now? His convictions were meaningless. The idea of having his first experience with a woman he had no feelings for deeply unsettled him, but when his life was on the line, he couldn’t afford to be picky.

‘Do I really have to go this far just to stay alive? Oh, dear God in heaven… And what was I supposed to do again?’

Lying there, his thoughts tangled like a messy ball of thread. He recalled the s*x education he had received from his tutor as part of his heir training. Not just from that, but as a young man in his prime, he knew the basics of intercourse as common knowledge.

During his academy days, an experienced senior had once explained in detail how to please a woman. Through conversations his friends boasted about, Lucas had picked up plenty of theoretical knowledge.

Though it wouldn’t be a relationship based on love, he resolved to be as considerate as possible since it was both his and the woman’s first time. As this determination settled, he heard movement outside the door.

The door creaked open.

“Ahem.”

Lucas cleared his throat awkwardly, his embarrassment flaring as he instinctively turned his head to the opposite side. While he didn’t know who the woman was, she undoubtedly knew who he was. The situation was mortifying on multiple levels.

He could hear his own heartbeat pounding in his ears. Trying to calm himself, he listened to the measured footsteps approaching the bed. The mattress dipped slightly, and he felt someone climb onto it. The rustling sound of clothes being removed followed, and soon, warmth brushed against his side.

But that was all. The woman didn’t make any other move. A heavy silence lingered, broken only by the sound of someone nervously swallowing.

‘Am I supposed to take the lead?’

Sensing the woman’s hesitation, Lucas decided to make the first move. Cautiously, he raised his arm and lightly touched her body. His calloused hand, hardened from wielding swords, met soft, tender skin without any obstacles.

The woman’s body trembled slightly at the contact. Turning his large frame to the side, Lucas gently stroked her small back, his hand brushing against her long, silky hair. If it was someone who had worked in the estate for ten years, it was likely one of the maids he knew. Yet, even with this touch, he couldn’t figure out who she was.

After awkwardly caressing her for a while, Lucas realized there was a problem. Since neither of them had experience, they only knew what to do in theory. Neither could take the initiative to move things forward. But that wasn’t the only issue.

Instinctively, Lucas felt a sense of rejection, and his body didn’t respond at all. Feeling the stillness of his lower body, Lucas let out a long sigh.

Then, suddenly, he felt a hand touch between his legs. Startled, his body jerked violently.

The most absurd part was that even with the woman’s touch, his body showed no reaction. At this rate, not only would the curse remain unbroken, but after his death, there might even be rumors that the duke had died impotent.
