Surviving In An Adult-Rated Romance Game - Chapter 6.2
As usual, Seona strolled around the duke’s mansion, observing her surroundings. Not far away, she could hear the sounds of the knights’ training. Shiron was there too.
When Shiron first came here, Seona had worried about whether he would adapt to the life of a knight. However, to her surprise, he was adapting quite well, surpassing her initial concerns.
However, Shiron’s playfulness persisted.
“Sister, so until when will you stay at the duke’s mansion? Hmm?”
During any break in training, Shiron would dash towards Seona as if waiting for her. Today was no exception.
As always, he clung to Seona, playfully making his request.
“Sister, aren’t you uncomfortable here? Let’s go live somewhere else together. Just the two of us.”
At Shiron’s words, Seona instinctively felt a shiver down her spine. Of course, Shiron’s intention was not to imply anything serious. His playful tone made it clear that he was joking.
However, knowing the potential bad ending with him, Seona found herself involuntarily tensing up.
“Living elsewhere, just the two of us.”
Am I supposed to be trapped in another gloomy underground cell? Seona grimaced, shaking her head.
“No, I’m comfortable here.”
“You’re lying ……How can you be comfortable here when there are two monstrous humans like that…… “
Shiron pouted in response to Seona’s firm attitude. Even though he knew she wouldn’t entertain his whining, Shiron frequently played around.
“And I only want to do things with you, Sister. Whenever I try something, those crazy perverts keep interfering, and I can’t concentrate at all.”
“For all that talk, you handled it quite well?”
“Ah, Sister… No, I was uncomfortable.”
Shiron grumbled, seemingly annoyed as he recalled the previous night. It wasn’t surprising – Shiron had never experienced a moment alone with Seona. Every time it seemed like the atmosphere might shift in that direction, Balteo or Raiden would inevitably appear, interfering and ruining the mood.
“Your Highness, after I generously allowed you some discretion, is it proper for you to whine behind Seona’s back? Is it?”
Suddenly, a low voice interjected. It was a familiar voice. Turning her gaze to the source, Seona found Balteo standing there with a displeased expression.
“After finishing training, are you wandering around like this, Your Highness?”
Balteo, who noticed Shiron chattering with Seona in the garden, approached with a swift stride. Shiron, who used to have seizures every time he encountered Balteo, had now become rather brazen.
Pretending not to hear Balteo’s words, Shiron turned to Seona.
“Sister, can’t you please drive away that man?”
“Sorry, Shiron. I don’t have the power to do that…”
When he first started training to be a knight, Shiron had screamed in pain at the slightest touch. The training was so intense that he could barely hold a fork, but now, unlike then, he was quite muscular. His body line has thickened a bit and his forearms have become stronger, and the days of playfully complaining about muscle soreness were long gone.
Seona sometimes found Shiron’s changed appearance a bit unfamiliar, but compared to his pale complexion in the past, his current healthy and vibrant look was much more appealing.
Perhaps due to his improved health, she sensed a strange brightness about him. Especially for Seona, who vividly remembered Shiron’s bad ending, this change was particularly noticeable.
‘Back then, his eyes looked so lifeless….’
Right now, Shiron’s eyes were sparkling beautifully.
Be that as it may, Siron was still something of a thorn in Balteo’s eyes. Balteo furrowed his brows as he looked at Shiron clinging to Seona’s side.
“Are you not staying away from Seona?”
“What if I don’t?”
“Heh, if it weren’t for being a prince, I would have just……”
In the past, Balteo might have forcibly taken him away. But now, with Shiron’s increased size, it wasn’t so easy.
Balteo glanced at Shiron with displeasure, but it wasn’t the ominous gaze he had when they first met. There was a certain affection in his eyes as if he saw Shiron as a disciple whom he trained diligently.
“Anyway, His Grace mentioned that he has something important to discuss tonight. So, Your Highness, please attend as well.
Hearing this, Seona pointed a finger at herself and asked.
“Am I going too?”
“Of course.”
Balteo straightforwardly answered as if to ask, ‘Why are you even asking that? ‘
‘What important thing could it be?’
Seona was curious, contemplating the significance of gathering the three of them for an important discussion.
And then, the announcement made by Raiden was nothing short of shocking.
***
“I’m getting engaged to Seona.”
The dry voice echoed firmly in the large dining room. Upon hearing this, the three of them simultaneously exclaimed.
“What?”
“What the…….”
“Huh? With me?”
Balteo stared at Raiden, his mouth agape, while Shiron dropped his fork in disbelief.
As for the central figure, Seona, she was bewildered.
‘What’s suddenly going on?’
An engagement? With me? I’ve never heard such a thing before. Is it normal to decide on an engagement like this, without any prior discussion?
Seona blinked her round eyes, completely caught off guard.
“What’s there to be so surprised about? It’s something that had to be done eventually. We can’t continue this ambiguous relationship indefinitely.”
Raiden said casually, slicing a piece of meat in front of him and taking a bite. Meanwhile, the other three sat frozen, unable to touch their food.
“But, Your Grace, even if it’s Seona, she’s far too inadequate for the position of the Duchess.”
Balteo declared, slamming the table. Seona, not fully understanding Balteo’s statement at first, reacted belatedly.
“What, what did you say?”
Even considering the difference in status, isn’t it too much to say I’m inadequate? Seona glared at Balter with disappointment. Regardless, Balteo continued with his argument.
“In my opinion, being the Marquise of the Hector’s estate suits her just fine. Originally, considering our similar backgrounds, this level is perfect for Seona.”
So, it was that. Balteo was secretly trying to take Seona as his wife.
“Your Grace, I beg you to reconsider. The position of Duchess of the Grand Duke’s family is too heavy a position for Seona.”
“Ridiculous. Are you both proceeding without asking my sister’s opinion? As you can see, she won’t like it. Sister, don’t listen to those two…. “
“It might be best for the prince to step out. No matter what, you cannot marry Seona.”
Raiden said firmly, cutting off Shiron’s words.
“Surely you don’t have any intention of dragging Seona into that stuffy and oppressive palace, do you?”
At the penetrating question, Shiron couldn’t offer any rebuttal. He could only shoot a disdainful look at Raiden, biting his lower lip, which seemed to express all he could do.
