Not that she would have seduced him in the first place if she knew he wasn’t really Lancart.

“I’ll get you pregnant now, Wife.”

Grabbing the back of her neck, he ground his hips upward, forcing hers to follow. Just like before, he spread her womb wide and pushed inside.

The woman who had been panting and weakly calling his name just moments ago now lay silent, her face buried in the sheets. The tip of his c**k pierced through her tender depths.

“Ah, delicious.”

The nameless creature wearing Lancart’s guise with his icy blue eyes gleaming, ran wild as he rutted inside Sylvia’s delicate body.

Year 334 of the Empire, about two months before the harsh winter set in.

Duke Alexander, leading his elite knights on a punitive expedition to the Blavat Swamp, went missing exactly one month into the expedition.

The swamp, now a domain of monsters, had once been part of the Empire. It was still a fertile land, home to thousands, even tens of thousands, of living creatures.

There were no issues with communication, as the carrier pigeons carrying messages between the expedition and the royal palace made regular trips. Once a week, letters were exchanged, ensuring close coordination between the two.

After four successful exchanges of letters, on the fifth week, when the carrier pigeon flew eastward with its message, something unexpected happened.

Instead of returning with the usual parchment tied to its leg, the carrier pigeon came carrying the bloodied Duke’s brooch in its beak, signaling the Duke’s death. Realizing this, the Crown Prince immediately sent a search party to the swamp.

A day passed, then ten, and finally a month, yet they could not find the Duke’s body, nor the bodies of his knights. At last, the search party decided to give up.

On the day they decided to abandon the search, the Duke appeared before the search party. He emerged drenched in blood.

The soldiers, momentarily mistaking him for a monster, quickly realized who he was when they saw his distinctive, strong features, his thick dark hair, and the elegant armor he wore that was covered in blood.

“D-Duke!”

In front of the flustered search party, the Duke smiled faintly, only to collapse, unconscious.

Not understanding the meaning behind his smile, the soldiers hurriedly placed the Duke on a horse and swiftly fled the monster’s territory.

On their return journey, they sent a carrier pigeon with news of the Duke’s survival and condition to the Crown Prince. After two full days, they finally reached the capital. From there, they secretly transported the Duke to the Duke’s residence, carefully avoiding the public eyes.

The Crown Prince had only been curious about whether the Duke had survived, but he hadn’t been concerned about the Duke’s well-being. It was the Duke’s family and retainers who would be worried. If the Duke was still alive, the Crown Prince’s orders were clear: the search party was to safely deliver the Empire’s hero to the Duke’s residence.

A day before they arrived, the Duke woke up in the carriage, curiously lifting the curtain to gaze out at the colorful sights of the capital.

One of the search party members earnestly begged that he not be seen, but the pleas were ignored. As a result, the search party leader was forced to send yet another carrier pigeon to the Crown Prince’s palace that day.

The Duke was acting strangely. He constantly had a bright, innocent smile, as though he was a child seeing human civilization for the first time, and kept asking questions that were impossible to understand.

As the search party crossed the vast lands of the Duke’s territory, all thirty members, without exception, were completely exhausted.

The sound of over a hundred hooves raised dust in the distance, signaling the approach of the search party to the Duke’s household.

Lady Rossa, the Duke’s mother, and Sylvia, the Duke’s wife, along with numerous other retainers, were waiting at the gates to greet them.

Since the truth about the Duke’s disappearance and his tragic defeat at the hands of monsters couldn’t be made public, the welcome ceremony was kept simple. Only Lady Rossa’s cries of grief could be heard.

“Ugh…! My son…!”

Despite the fact that her husband, whom she had been married to for four years, was miraculously alive and had returned in front of her eyes, Sylvia remained tense, watching Lady Rossa’s every move, and didn’t shed a single tear of relief.

The search party, with the carriage at the center of the procession, eventually came to a stop in front of them. The search party leader dismounted first and respectfully bowed to Lady Rossa.

After the Duke, Lady Rossa held the highest rank in the Duke’s household, so it was only fitting that she received the proper respect. For a moment, a proud smile appeared on Lady Rossa’s face, but it quickly faded.

“My son. What has happened to Lancart?”

“He is safe, but… it would be best to call a physician immediately.”

“You say he is safe, yet you tell me to call for a physician? That doesn’t add up. If Lancart is safe, then bring him to me! Lancart, my son—!”

Lady Rossa’s scream, so loud it seemed to tear through the air, made everyone close to her flinch. The retainers, knowing full well how she would react if they blocked their ears, only flinched their fingers slightly.

Sylvia, among them, was the one who reacted the least, merely twitching her fingers.

It was only when Lady Rossa shouted the Duke’s name for the third time that the carriage door finally creaked open.
