The Adopted Princess Hopes to Escape the Genre - Chapter 19
“Where to even begin pointing out everything wrong with this…”
I muttered, holding my forehead as I glared at Theodore, who seemed beyond saving. With deliberate emphasis, I declared firmly,
“If there’s no response, you just leave. Got it?”
“What if you’re in danger?”
Theodore, incapable of letting even the smallest thing slide, immediately countered my statement.
“Just memorize it: if there’s no response, you just leave.”
“What if an assassin is targeting you?”
“…….”
‘That’s… actually plausible.’
Theodore’s words made me pause, and my expression turned serious.
In the realm of romance fantasy, assassins were practically the default welcome gift. In short, it wouldn’t be shocking if an assassin barged into my room at this very moment.
Nodding, I found myself agreeing with Theodore’s argument.
“That’s a somewhat reasonable assumption.”
“I knew it.”
Encouraged by my slight concession, Theodore’s eyes sparkled with newfound confidence, as if preparing to spew more nonsense. Not wanting to leave even a sliver of room for further debate, I spoke with an even firmer tone than before.
“Still, barging into someone else’s room without permission isn’t okay.”
“Lassetia.”
His gentle tone from earlier vanished in an instant, and Theodore reverted to the version of him I was more familiar with.
Did I overstep? Maybe I shouldn’t have spoken so instructively, considering I was just an adopted child…
“Lassetia.”
“Yes…”
“Why would you call us ‘someone else’?”
“What?”
His unexpected words left me dumbfounded.
“It’s not someone else’s room. It’s my little sister’s room.”
“Uh… that’s true, but…”
His composed tone and nonsensical reasoning drew me in against my will.
“Which is why I can freely come and go from your room.”
Theodore concluded with an absurd statement, accompanied by a self-satisfied smile.
‘No way, you sh*t. My privacy is mine.’
I thought, clenching my head in frustration. Glaring at Theodore, I shot back.
“Brother, even among family, you need to respect personal space. Don’t you understand the concept of personal space?”
“Personal… what?”
“Well, there is such a thing. Now, what brings you to my room?”
I swept my messy hair back and asked.
“Didn’t we plan to go shopping today?”
“Did I?”
Being startled by a schedule made unilaterally without my consent, I questioned him again.
“Yes, you.”
You’re the one who just notified me out of nowhere.
“It’ll be tight if you start preparing now. I’ll call the maids to help you get ready.”
“I haven’t even washed my face yet.”
“That doesn’t matter.”
‘Like you’d know anything, already all prepared and ready to go.’
Ignoring Theodore’s words, I got up. There was no way I was going out looking like this on my first outing. At the very least, I needed to wash my face with the water the maids had left behind earlier.
Pulling my hair back, I dipped my hand into the basin of water. The water was as cold as ice.
‘…Well, nothing like cold water to wash up in the morning.’
Thinking of it as a mental discipline exercise, I splashed the cold water on my face. It was refreshing, and my mind finally felt clearer.
As soon as I finished washing up, Theodore handed me a towel as if he’d been waiting for this exact moment.
“Then I’ll go and summon the maids.”
“Yes.”
The moment Theodore left the room, I collapsed back onto the bed as if I had been waiting for him to leave.
The thick mattress was perfectly cushioned, ensuring my back wouldn’t ache even after lying there for ages. The blanket, cool to the touch and neither too heavy nor too light, was the perfect companion for a homebody like me who loved staying in bed.
‘With bedding like this, I could stay in bed forever.’
Hugging Tosooni tightly and burying myself under the covers, I heard a knock at the door.
Knock-, knock-.
“Miss, we’ve come to assist you with your preparations for the outing.”
“Come in.”
The door opened, and three maids entered. Unlike the previous ones, they carried themselves with proper decorum.
As I sluggishly climbed out of bed and sat down on the chair in front of the vanity, the maids busied themselves with preparing their tools. Soon, they began adorning me, one on each side.
