The Baby Who Regressed Refuses Childcare - Chapter 21
“The Empress is now blatantly ignoring the Crown Prince.”
Watching the procession leaving the mansion, Sharon Abner stroked her chin.
“It seems I have completely got the Emperor right under my thumb.”
Wendell chimed in.
Sharon Abner nodded.
“Yes, there’s no need to worry about anyone anymore. From the Crown Prince’s perspective, it means his standing has diminished.”
The status of Crown Prince Tian was definitely higher than that of Empress Karin.
But to the outside world, their relationship was the exact opposite.
Empress Karin casually scolded the Crown Prince, and the Crown Prince found her troublesome.
It was the same a while ago when they left the reception room.
Next to Karin, ten maids and servants attended her. In contrast, beside Tian, there wasn’t a single person.
“The Crown Prince is going to have a harder time in the future. If the Empress is like this, there’s no way anyone else is going to treat him right.”
“Do you wish to intervene?”
Sharon Abner frowned.
“As a mentor*? I have a debt to pay to the former Empress, and it is true that I feel sorry for the young Crown Prince.”
“Then…”
“But a mentor is a mentor, but it’s not a proper reason.”
Sharon Abner firmly closed the curtain.
Then, she returned to the sofa in the reception room and sat down.
“Money, or power, or something more. You’d better not make a move without a clear accomplishment, Wendell.”
Wendell nodded.
“…I feel sorry for the Crown Prince.”
“It can’t be helped. Being pitiful and being incompetent are different things.”
When Sharon Abner clapped her hands, the servants cleared away the teacups and teapots Karin, the Empress, had used.
“The Crown Prince is too passive. He doesn’t know exactly what’s happening to him right now, and he lacks the courage or determination to correct the problems.”
“…….”
“With such an attitude, even if I step forward, it’s difficult to change the situation. If one lacks determination, how can others help around?”
Wendell nodded silently.
“It’s a curious thing, in that sense.”
He paused and looked at Sharon Abner.
She was lost in thought.
“What do you mean?”
“The little girl. Anellia.”
Wendell nodded slowly.
“Yes, she’s more clever than her peers.”
“Clever indeed. Uncannily so.”
Sharon, tilting her gaze, added,
“And eerily similar…”
Wendell slowly understood Sharon’s words.
“What do you mean?”
Instead of answering, Sharon stared out of the window.
The smile that lingered on her lips disappeared.
* * *
“Huh?”
After sending off the Crown Prince, I was about to leave the room, but instead, I took a step back.
Two people were standing in front of the door.
“Hello, Miss Anellia!”
“Hello, Young Lady…!”
Both of them were dressed as servants, carrying various odds and ends in their hands.
The one with a small stature and round eyes put down the basket she was carrying in a hurry.
“I’m Mielle, who will be serving Miss Anellia from now on! It’s our first time meeting while you’re awake, right?”
Staring blankly at Mielle, she said,
“Actually, I’ve already met the Young Lady. Last night while you were sleeping.”
Her eyes slowly widened.
It seemed like Mielle was the one who had heated the room all night.
Another servant, Soya, introduced herself.
“I-I’m Soya. I’ll be taking care of the Young Lady along with Mielle….”
Unlike Mielle, Soya had a calm image.
From her slender figure to the freckles on her nose.
I bowed deeply to the two people with opposite atmospheres.
“Yes! Hello, unnies.”
Mielle’s mouth widened in surprise.
Soya blushed slightly, muttering, “Cute…”
I cautiously inquired,
“But what’s happening here?”
Realizing something, I stepped back slightly.
“Are you not supposed to go outside…?”
“What?”
“Sharon Ab, I mean, the Duke, told you not to wander alone and always go with Mr. Wendel when going somewhere.”
Pondering, indeed, that was the case.
I had only arrived yesterday.
Who would be pleased with someone freely wandering around the mansion?
While I was contemplating, Mielle and Soya looked at each other.
T/N: the term used here is “사감” which has a variety of meanings, and some of them are ‘housemaster,’ ‘educator,’ ‘instructor,’ ‘mentor,’ and ‘spite.’ While all of them could possibly be important to the narrative, the translation I chose to stick to was ‘mentor,’ as it seemed appropriate for the situation, as Sharon would theoretically be more of an overall mentor for the Prince, so ‘educator’ and ‘instructor’ felt lacking. If I learn new information which changes this, I will update the chapter and post changes on my channel in our discord server.
