The Baby Who Regressed Refuses Childcare - Chapter 25
As expected, Wendell rescued me from the fairy tale hell.
We went outside together to stroll through the East Wing gardens.
‘Cheating! This is cheating! Are you going to take Lady Anelia away like this?’
‘Mi-Mielle. Calm down. The young lady also wants to take a walk with Lord Wendell.’
Of course, Mielle expressed her disappointment while tearing at her handkerchief.
But there was no winning against my insistence.
‘Anellia must go for a walk. I’ve had too much bread, and I feel stuffed!’
That statement was somewhat true.
Strangely, for the past few weeks, my meals consisted only of bread— nothing but bread.
Moreover, these were bizarre types of bread I had never seen before.
There was bread with fish on top, and even fruits soaked in sugar were placed on bread.
‘But bread tastes the best.’
Honestly, I really liked the bread in this mansion.
While the overly sophisticated dishes didn’t suit my taste, the bread was fine.
And nowadays, the kitchen develops new recipes in-house, and the bread just keeps getting better and better.
“…Bread is the best.”
“It seems you enjoy the meals.”
Wendell asked as he hugged me.
“Yes. The chef and Mrs. Marlene do a fantastic job.”
“I see.”
Since I became the official ward of the Abner family, Wendell had been even more polite and courteous.
“But did you really miss me?”
I glanced at him.
“Yes. We haven’t seen each other often. Not yesterday, the day before, or the day before that.”
“Her Excellency had business all over the estate, and I wasn’t at the manor to accompany her.”
“I see.”
An awkward silence fell.
The few weeks spent in the East Pavilion showed no traces of winter.
The garden was filled with fresh sprouts and early-blooming flowers.
Wendell murmured again, almost inaudibly.
“By the way, I have a four-year age difference with Mielle.”
His sudden remark made my eyes widen.
“Huh?”
Wendel averted his gaze and cleared his throat awkwardly.
“I believe Miss Miel is eighteen, which makes me twenty-two.”
“Oh, um… okay.”
Wendell looked at me.
“….. I heard you call Mielle ‘unnie.’”
His voice had become even softer than before.
I blinked in confusion.
“Yeah?”
What? What does his age have to do with Mielle…?
“That…. I mean, you call Miss Mielle ‘unnie,’ so why am I…”
“…”
“Why am I called ‘mister’…?”
I was at a loss for words.
“Oh, my God. You too, Wendell!”
Mielle laughed and covered me with the blanket up to my neck.
“So, what will you call him from now on?”
I squinted, pondering earnestly.
“I’m still thinking. ‘Mister’ sounds too formal for now…”
“Yeah, calling him ‘mister’ doesn’t suit a handsome knight like him.”
“How about ‘uncle*’ then?”
(T/N: the term Anellia has been using for Wendell is ‘아저씨’ (ajeossi) which is a term used to refer to older men (often middle aged men), and translates to ‘mister’ or ‘uncle,’ but it’s more formal compared to ‘삼촌’ (samchon) which translates to ‘uncle’ and indicates that they’re relatives, that they’re family.)
“Oh.”
Soya opened her eyes wide.
“U-uncle! Sounds good.”
“Yeah, uncle is really nice.”
I smiled broadly.
“Right? Uncle suits you perfectly.”
“Yes! Lady Anellia, how are you so smart? Sometimes, you really don’t seem like you’re only four years old.”
“Hehe…”
My stomach fluttered, I subtly shifted my gaze to the ceiling.
Soya put her arm around me and tucked me into the blanket.
“When you went for a walk today, Ji, the butler came by.”
“The butler?”
“Yes. Sooner or later you’ll be moving your bedroom to the main building. When you get a teacher, you’ll be taking a few classes…”
The mention of lessons caught my attention.
“Lessons? I’m going to have lessons?”
“Yes. Isn’t that disappointing? You probably want to play for a while…”
“No, I love it!”
Soya and Mielle looked at me in surprise.
I sat up.
“I’m learning magic? And alchemy? Or just the basics?”
Sharon Abner was already aware that I was something special.
But that didn’t mean I should recklessly showcase my abilities.
‘If I reveal the magical formulas I completed in my past life at my current age…’
Without a doubt, I would be labeled as someone who used dark magic or forbidden sorcery.
