The Baddest Villainess Is Back - Chapter 180
“It feels like you’re a completely different person.”
“Thanks to you, I was finally able to renovate the High Priest’s residence! I also did some repairs on the temple here and there… and filled up all the supplies the other priests had been begging for.”
Still kneeling beside the bed, he rubbed his cheek against the pile of gold bars he had poured out, speaking with an almost blissful expression.
“And I bought a bunch of new items from that shop I’ve had my eye on, and I’ve even ordered some new clothes.”
There was probably no one in the world who embodied the word “materialistic” more than this man.
Roxelyn nodded, her expression wondering what could possibly make him so happy.
“And I’m even considering buying a set of casual clothes from Fleur Boutique.”
“Good for you.”
The High Priest giggled in response.
“This is heavy, so put it away.”
“Haa~ I’d be happy to be crushed to death under all this gold…”
“…”
“…I shall put it away, Master.”
With a serene smile that made him look like he could forgive the whole world, the High Priest quickly flicked his fingers, stacking the gold bars neatly beside the bed.
‘So, you can use a defensive Abyss like that too,’ Roxelyn thought, not bothering to hide her curiosity as she watched.
The High Priest noticed and grinned as he spoke.
“Curious about what this is? If you’re curious, that’ll be 5 million Olans!”
“Not really.”
Roxelyn’s cold response made the High Priest pause, scratching the back of his head awkwardly before plopping down on the bed beside her.
“Can’t you at least pretend to be curious?”
With a playful smile, he asked in a teasing tone. Roxelyn glanced out the window before speaking.
“So, why did you come? You didn’t have to come all the way out here.”
Her words were cold, almost heartless, causing the High Priest to drop his head slightly.
He snapped his fingers.
“This isn’t an Abyss granted by Nerva—it’s my own personal Abyss. It’s called ‘Shield’.”
“Oh, I know.”
“…You know?”
“Yes. I know that the Abyss you possess is the strongest defensive Abyss in existence.”
Roxelyn spoke calmly.
“I also know that you create a small barrier like this, then adjust the light’s refraction to make it invisible, using it like a pocket dimension…”
The High Priest’s eyes widened slightly as he realized that Roxelyn knew more details than he had expected.
“And I know that the source of that Abyss is your life force.”
As Roxelyn finished her sentence, the High Priest’s expression hardened.
Seeing this, Roxelyn continued speaking.
“Let me change the question. Did you visit this area because of the monster incident?”
The High Priest narrowed his eyes at Roxelyn’s question, then relaxed his stiff expression and let out a sly smile.
“May I ask how my dear Master knows information I haven’t even mentioned?”
“You don’t need to know that. From the moment you accepted my help, our deal was sealed.”
Roxelyn cut him off firmly, but the High Priest continued to stare at her in silence.
After watching her for a long moment, his eyes widened slightly.
“…Ah, I didn’t expect you to be a Pilgrim.”
It was as if he had just discovered something. He pressed his palm against his eyes for a moment, then lowered his hand to look at Roxelyn again.
“Pilgrim?”
“You used the power of a demon to cross worlds, didn’t you?”
The High Priest, Irvon, spoke in a low tone, as if he had finally figured something out about Roxelyn.
The power of a demon?
Ah, was he referring to the devil with whom Gerun Wilfred had made a contract?
“To think I’d find traces of Bathin here.”
“Bathin…? What is that?”
At Roxelyn’s question, the High Priest got up from where he had been sitting on the bed and plopped down in a chair as he spoke.
“A fallen demon.”
“…That wording is strange. Demons are inherently fallen beings, so why specify ‘fallen’?”
“Bathin is one of the strongest demons, but he’s also notorious for being eccentric.”
Noticing Roxelyn’s slight tilt of the head in confusion, the High Priest continued his explanation.
“According to records, Bathin is known for being cruel and ruthless, a demon who appears and disappears unpredictably. But amusingly enough, he sometimes grants humans’ requests without asking for anything in return, and he’s even known to hunt other demons.”
He extended his index finger and traced a small circle in the air as he explained in a leisurely tone.
“But the most peculiar thing about Bathin is his ability.”
“Ability…?”
“Curious?”
“Yes.”
The High Priest grinned mischievously at Roxelyn’s response before speaking.
“If you’re curious, that’ll be 5 million olans.”
