The Baddest Villainess Is Back - Chapter 186
“Well, she’s an exceptionally bright young lady, so I’m quite tempted.”
“Roxelyn is my daughter. Don’t covet her.”
“How can I not covet something so tempting?”
Gerun Wilfred shrugged his shoulders.
“Perhaps she might even come to me if she gets tired of you.”
“Ridiculous. Do you think the bond of blood is something that breaks so easily?”
At the fierce tone, Gerun Wilfred rubbed his chin and set down his teacup.
“Well, it seems to break pretty easily…”
At his insinuating words, Roxelyn quietly raised her head and looked at Gerun Wilfred. Sensing her gaze, Gerun grinned and shrugged again.
“You two seem to be getting along quite well.”
“We are.”
Roxelyn answered firmly, and Zerti Bellion straightened his back with a satisfied expression.
“I’m glad you’ve finally buttoned things up properly this time, but I can’t help but feel a little jealous.”
“Sorry, but I’m a bit too good to be your daughter.”
Roxelyn shrugged nonchalantly. At her audacious remark, Gerun Wilfred paused for a moment before bursting into laughter.
“The more I see you, the more you interest me.”
“I know I’m charming, but you already have a wife, so I’d appreciate it if you’d stop making such remarks.”
“Ah, don’t worry about that. It’s not like that at all. I’m quite devoted, you see.”
“Really? That’s funny, considering the rumors that you and your wife sleep in separate rooms are all over the place.”
Roxelyn smirked, and Gerun Wilfred chuckled, shrugging his shoulders.
Zerti Bellion’s eyes widened slightly at the exchange.
“I still think it’s a shame you won’t become my daughter.”
There seemed to be a subtle tension between the two that he couldn’t quite interrupt.
“Marquis Gerun Wilfred.”
Zerti Bellion said, gripping his daughter’s hand tightly as he raised his head.
“If you utter such nonsense to my child again…”
His fierce gaze was laced with a faint mist of poison, directed solely at Gerun Wilfred.
Gerun narrowed his eyes slightly and casually sipped the last bit of tea in his cup.
“With such poor control over your Abyss, I’d be worried you might accidentally harm Roxelyn.”
Gerun’s green eyes darkened as he spoke softly.
“Is your only method of dealing with people to use your Abyss when you’re angry?”
“I was threatening you actively.”
“And are you sure your threats won’t end up harming Roxelyn?”
Zerti Bellion’s eyes hardened at Gerun Wilfred’s words, but Gerun remained unfazed, even under his grim and fierce gaze.
“Stop trying to take someone else’s child. She’s far too good for a black-hearted snake like you.”
“You say that as if she’s not too good for you.”
“Hmph, I’m her father. It’s different from your dysfunctional family. If you want, why don’t you focus on having a child with your wife?”
“You’re one to talk, considering the rumors of discord in your own family have been quite the talk of high society lately.”
“Hah, well, having a child seems unlikely for you anyway, considering the widespread rumors that the Marchioness has filed for divorce.”
“And I’ve heard your daughter plans to leave the empire.”
“No, she’s not going anywhere.”
“Are you so sure about that?”
“You sneaky, black-hearted snake!”
“I’d rather not hear that from you of all people, Young Duke.”
The two began bickering like children. Despite their formal words, it was more immature than a schoolyard argument.
Roxelyn, with a tired expression, finally spoke up.
“Gerun, why are you acting so childish? If you want, I’ll be your kid in the next life, so stop being so immature.”
Gerun Wilfred’s eyes widened slightly at her words.
“Roxelyn!”
Zerti Bellion called out, looking wounded.
“Yes? And Father, what are you doing, keeping a guest here and arguing like this? I need to speak with Marquis Gerun Wilfred, so please leave us.”
At Roxelyn’s scolding, both men fell silent.
“I’ll sit here quietly and keep my mouth shut…”
Zerti Bellion muttered, glancing at Roxelyn sheepishly.
