The Baddest Villainess Is Back - Chapter 201
“Are you even allowed to be here?”
“Mother and Father have given me permission! My lady!”
That strange way of speaking was still the same.
Roxelyn shrugged, thinking to herself.
Throughout the entire walk through the forest, from the estate to here, Batar was on one side of her and Arma on the other.
“When will the Khan return?”
“Mother and Father said they couldn’t leave the country for too long, so they’ll be returning soon! My lady!”
“Soon?”
“Hmm, probably when I go back, or if Lord Sansar informs them of the right time, they’ll bring a guide and head back! My lady!”
Batar answered, sticking close to Roxelyn as they walked side by side.
The Empire and Kaluta had formed an alliance. The discussions they had resulted in an agreement that was passed and approved in both countries.
As part of the alliance, each nation decided to send at least one member of the royal family and a cultural exchange representative to solidify the bond.
Batar had been chosen to stay in the Empire. He would remain there to ensure continuous exchange between Kaluta and the Empire.
Additionally, several other Kalutans were set to remain, including those involved in technological exchanges with House Bellion.
‘And as for leaving the Empire…’
Roxelyn smiled. Batar’s eyes widened at the sight of her smile.
But before the boy could speak, Arma, wearing a relaxed expression, gently took Roxelyn’s hand and started talking.
“Why are you smiling, Roxelyn?”
“I heard that His Highness, Second Prince Yuldian, is leaving soon.”
“Roxelyn, you’re very astute. That’s correct.”
Arma lightly pressed her hand to his lips as he spoke, giving it a gentle kiss.
The unfamiliar sensation on the back of her hand made Roxelyn pause momentarily.
“He should be arriving in a few days.”
“…Yes.”
Arma, acting as if nothing had happened, explained smoothly, and Roxelyn, caught off guard, nodded.
“Roxelyn! Who the heck is this disrespectful punk, my lady!”
“Roxelyn, who is this child?”
They had both accompanied her on the diplomatic trip to Kaluta, so it wasn’t as though they were asking about each other’s identity.
Roxelyn glanced down at the two of them before turning her head toward Batar.
“He’s the son of a friend…”
Then, she looked at Arma.
“And he’s the fiancé I’m about to break up with.”
Arma looked at her with a hurt expression.
“…Roxelyn, I have no intention of breaking off our engagement.”
Arma spoke with determination, and Roxelyn let out a small laugh.
She knew Arma was someone who valued freedom, at least that was how he wanted to live.
“I’m serious.”
“But it won’t change anything, will it?”
At this point, Roxelyn was tired and worn down, far beyond the possibility of falling in love again, and she didn’t have much faith in Arma.
Loving someone you couldn’t trust was an impossible task.
“You said you liked me.”
At Arma’s words, Roxelyn hesitated.
“I do like you.”
“And I like you too.”
As soon as she answered, Arma immediately replied.
Roxelyn, momentarily at a loss for words, was about to say something when she noticed an intrigued gaze directed toward them from the front.
Gerun Wilfred was watching them with an oddly curious expression.
Beside him, the High Priest had pulled out a piece of jerky and was casually chewing on it as he watched them, not even trying to hide his amusement.
When Roxelyn made eye contact with him, the High Priest gave her a broad smile.
“Let’s camp here for tonight. We’re heading toward a more heavily polluted area, and it’ll be dangerous after dark.”
The High Priest gave the order for the priests accompanying them to start preparing the camp.
As the priests began to move in perfect synchronization, the High Priest clasped his hands together and closed his eyes, murmuring softly.
A radiant blue light emerged from above his head and slowly spread like a fountain, creating a translucent barrier around the area.
‘So this is the strongest defensive Abyss…’
It was because of this that Roxelyn felt reassured enough to join the journey.
The High Priest’s defense is nearly unbeatable as long as he’s alive.
