The Baddest Villainess Is Back - Chapter 203
Roxelyn stared blankly at Arma, her expression asking what on earth he was talking about, and he gave a slight smile.
“Master.”
Arma bowed his head and whispered softly, with a gentle tone.
In that moment, Roxelyn felt a chill run down her spine and quickly stepped back a few paces in disgust.
Seeing her reaction, Arma pressed his lips together and rubbed his face lightly with his palm.
“…I apologize.”
He murmured quietly, burying his face in his hands.
“…I’ll go chop some firewood.”
“No, we already have plenty of firewood—”
Before Roxelyn could finish her sentence, Arma had already turned and swiftly left the barrier.
The man’s earlobes were visibly flushed red as he strode away.
“…Why is he going to chop firewood when we have more than enough?”
“You seem to be quite oblivious, don’t you? Haven’t you ever been in love, especially at your age?”
Gerun Wilfred chuckled, clearly enjoying himself as he teased her, which caused Roxelyn to curl her lips in irritation.
Roxelyn frowned deeply.
“I am in a relationship, you know.”
“I hope this isn’t your first romance.”
“I’m not as promiscuous as some people. I only date people I have feelings for.”
“Ah, that’s why your awareness of others is so out of touch.”
“Huuk, Roxelyn! Is this really your first relationship? I’ve been in love three times already!”
Roxelyn scowled.
‘A twelve-year-old has had three relationships?’
She found it hard to believe.
Roxelyn reflected on her own 27 years of life and her time here, realizing her only real relationship was the six-month contract romance she was currently in.
“You seem awfully fond of me,” Gerun teased Roxelyn.
“I don’t dislike you. If I did, you wouldn’t still be alive, would you?”
“What kind of rude comment is that?”
Gerun glanced down at Batar, who had stepped in front of Roxelyn protectively, then looked back up at her and grinned.
Feeling a shiver down her spine, Roxelyn kept her mouth shut.
“I do care for you, in my own way.”
“And I’ll pray that your love life falls apart.”
“…”
At the mention of the marquis’s wife, Gerun’s mouth shut tight.
“I hope the Marchioness successfully divorces you and runs away with a new husband.”
Roxelyn grinned as she twisted the knife.
“Well, if that were to happen…”
Gerun Wilfred casually slid his hands into his pockets and continued.
Suddenly, a strange gust of wind swirled around him, whipping his coat dramatically.
“That new husband of hers might just suffer an unfortunate accident.”
Gerun’s eyes weren’t smiling.
The weight of his voice made it clear that Roxelyn had touched a nerve, something she didn’t find hard to recognize.
“…Love truly is terrifying.”
Roxelyn muttered absentmindedly.
At her words, Gerun paused, then rubbed his lips before shrugging.
“I’d have to agree.”
“If you’d treated her well from the beginning, things wouldn’t have gotten this far, would they? As far as I know, the Marchioness… has liked you for quite some time.”
Roxelyn glanced at the priests busy preparing camp and attempted to sit on a nearby rock.
Well, she would have, if Gerun hadn’t thrown his coat over the rock first.
“…Take it away, would you?”
“I can’t let a precious lady sit anywhere. I have no desire to be killed by your family.”
“I’m more afraid of receiving favors from you without a catch, so I’d rather not.”
Gerun shrugged, showing no intention of removing his coat. Clicking her tongue, Roxelyn sat down on the coat without further argument.
The long coat dragged on the ground and got trampled, but she couldn’t care less.
“When someone who you thought would always be by your side disappears… that’s when you realize it was never guaranteed, and just how important they really were.”
Roxelyn rested her chin on her knees and nodded.
