The Baddest Villainess Is Back - Chapter 219
“No, no, that’s not true!!”
Edward Diyanitas screamed.
Albus cast a quick glance at his younger brother, then slowly approached with his body that hovered between life and death.
Looking down at himself, he thought how pitiful he appeared and rubbed his body, as hard and unfeeling as porcelain.
In his porcelain form, he could sense neither smell nor touch, only the faintest trace of another’s warmth.
“…If my physical body completely decays, do I finally die?”
Albus murmured quietly, staring at his own miserable, even horrifying form.
“Who knows.”
Roxelyn shrugged.
She didn’t know what would happen to a body cursed with the so-called blessing of the Abyss of Immortality over time.
However…
“You’ll end up living like this forever, losing your original body entirely.”
She glanced at the two boys before making her offer.
Rolling the yellow stone leisurely in her palm, she spoke.
“If you agree to cooperate, I can heal this body and bring it back to life.”
The current issue was likely the decay of his insides and flesh over time.
Perhaps the Abyss of Immortality had no side effects on oneself, but using it on others…
Or perhaps this result was inevitable all along.
“I just…”
“You just didn’t want to be left alone, did you?”
The Abyss of Immortality granted immortality only to the person bearing it.
In the reformation journal Roxelyn had read, traces of Edward’s Abyss were recorded.
It wasn’t a power that could be hidden.
A bearer of the Abyss of Immortality had regenerative abilities, befitting the name “immortal,” but this power didn’t extend to those it was used upon.
What must life be like for one who cannot die, even in fire?
Albus had become an experimental subject but couldn’t die.
He became the only entity to survive a blazing kiln, just as the mad scientist managing this mansion had intended.
Thus, Albus now looked like a charred and hardened piece of ancient wood, with his eyes and skin melted and solidified.
The only fortunate aspect was that Albus possessed an Abyss of his own.
He had awakened under extreme circumstances, forcing his soul into a porcelain doll to survive, thus becoming a living doll.
Albus raised his head in silence.
It was painful.
He wanted nothing more than to die.
But he could not.
Even as his entire body burned, his mind remained vivid.
In his will to live, he forced his soul into the porcelain and emerged alive, killing the monster who had ruled over this small mansion like a tyrant.
He felt overwhelming rage when he discovered his inability to die was due to his younger brother, yet he couldn’t bring himself to kill him.
What could he say to a brother who hugged the burning porcelain doll, calling him ‘brother’ and saying he was glad he was alive?
And so they survived.
Using their powers, they created the creatures called monsters that roamed the forest, collecting the souls of dying children and transferring them into porcelain dolls.
The creatures they created couldn’t become normal living beings, so they were called monsters, tainting the entire forest with miasma.
As time passed, the mansion was all but forgotten, with no one visiting.
Occasionally, rarely, people wandered in, having heard whispers of ‘immortality’.
“What is it that you want?”
“Brother! Are you really believing this nonsense? They’re just trying to use us! They only want to take something from us…!”
Everyone who came wanted to attain immortality.
So the boy granted their wish and locked them in cages, as so many people had done to him and his brother when they were young.
“Allow me to reintroduce myself. I am Roxelyn Bellion, of the Bellion Dukedom.”
She slowly turned, speaking with a relaxed smile.
“This forest is the property of the Dukedom, and I wish to obtain the resources it contains.”
