The Baddest Villainess Is Back - Chapter 26
Roxelyn rested her elbow on the windowsill and propped her chin, contemplating.
“What if I don’t want to?” she retorted.
“I’d be disappointed. After all, I’ve been extorted for 1 billion Olans by you.”
“That’s hardly enough compensation for reviving someone who wished to die.”
“Most people beg for another chance at life, but you’re quite unique.”
Roxelyn glanced at Gerun and then spoke indifferently.
“Gerun.”
“Hm?”
“Did you, by any chance, make a deal with a devil?”
Gerun’s eyes widened at her unexpected question. His surprised face turned into a grin as he covered his mouth with a hand.
“Why would you think that?”
“I remember seeing green flames before dying.”
Roxelyn spoke softly, her words stirring the air. Gerun’s purple eyes interlocked with her red ones in the air.
“Green flames are a symbol of the devilkin. And I found out there are demons capable of dimensional travel.”
“…”
“So, my hypothesis is this: Gerun, you don’t actually have an ‘Abyss’, nor have any awakened powers related to that. Right?”
Gerun paused for a moment, his expression subtly amused.
“You’ve seen me use my power a few times though.”
“Yes, I’m not saying you don’t have any abilities. Just that it’s not the Abyss.”
“Oh?”
With a smirk, Roxelyn drove the point home.
“Are you a demon contractor?”
But instead of answering, Gerun burst into a low guffaw.
“So you believe I’m a demon contractor?”
Instead of answering, he let out a low laugh.
“Well, what do you think?”
The carriage arrived at the Marquis’s estate.
“Here we are.”
Once again, without answering, Gerun stepped out first and offering his hand to Roxelyn.

“So, the twelfth Bishop was captured at the Duke’s estate?”
A shadowed figure cloaked in a black cloak spoke in a distorted, grating voice.
“Yes, Master.”
“Useless as ever.”
He clicked his tongue.
“Pity, that person had useful abilities. Dispose of her.”
The hooded man tapped his long fingers on the table under the cloak.
The subordinate nodded,
“I’ll try, but the Bellion Dukedom’s residence is heavily guarded right now.”
“…”
“Additionally, seeing that everyone who comes and goes to the dungeon are carrying soul stones, there’s a possibility that the Twelfth Bishop got caught using her abilities.”
The sound of tapping stopped.
The dark room, filled with robed figures around a round table, grew tense in silence.
“She got caught? How exactly?”
“It’s… I apologize. We don’t have a lot of information because information is being completely blocked at the moment.”
So, the bottomline was that there’s nothing to report.
The man in the cloak opened his mouth again, not hiding his displeasure.
“What about elsewhere?”
“All clear for now.”
The man sighed, frustrated.
This unexpected twist was problematic.
Because their grand plan for the future heavily relied on the Bellion Dukedom.
That’s why someone who had been so thoroughly brainwashed since she was young had been assigned to that mission.
“Find out what went wrong, and eliminate the Bishop before she talks more.”
“As you command, Master.”
The man did not hide his discontentment.
He had been heavily invested in that particular operation, personally overseeing and issuing commands. He hadn’t anticipated it would be compromised.
‘Foolish. But to fail in handling even this situation…’
The lack of competence was too great.
He clicked his tongue and said,
“We’ll bring down those noble beings from their heaven and trample them into the ground.”
At his words, four figures rose from their seats.
“Even if someone dies, our greater cause will be realized, and your desires will surely be fulfilled.”
“Yes.”
“Of course, Master.”
Light responses came answering back, tinged with insidious mirth.
Dark shadows fell beneath their cloaked figures, and they all shared a collective, chilling smile.
“When the time comes, do not fear death. The realization of our grand plan is near.”
Standing up, the man concluded.
“This meeting is adjourned.”
He was the first to leave the dimly lit room where only a single flickering candle was the source of light.
Someone blew out the candle, and the rustling sounds in the darkness ceased.
And soon, only silence remained.
