The Baddest Villainess Is Back - Chapter 69
Roxelyn focused solely on the man before her, despite the gazes from all around.
An interesting expression.
Yet, a predator that seemed ready to twist her neck with one wrong step.
The title of a noblewoman or anything similar becomes meaningless once outside the Empire, especially to Kaluta where foreign ranks hold no sway.
“I learned it from a wandering minstrel a long time ago.”
“Minstrel…?”
“Yes.”
Roxelyn nodded.
After leaving her family behind, she had once given shelter to a minstrel for about a month.
The real Roxelyn wouldn’t have made such a choice.
Even now, she didn’t know why she had shown such kindness.
It felt right to do so, and in gratitude, the minstrel taught her the Lutan language, promising to assist her if she ever needed help in the future.
Afterwards, wars broke out and the world ended, making such assistance unnecessary.
Yet, the language was unique enough to remain vivid in her memory.
“…Strange. Those who know Lutan are already quite aged, and those learning it new are close to the Khan or leaders of various groups.”
Gazing at the man whose pigment had somewhat faded with age, Roxelyn did not respond to his musing.
“Do you know the name of this minstrel?”
“Yes.”
“Would you mind sharing it?”
Roxelyn paused.
It was unclear whether this world’s individuals were the same as those in her world or if they even existed here, making her unsure if it was right to reveal the name.
But not revealing it would invite suspicion.
After a brief moment of contemplation, she spoke.
“This person may not remember teaching me this language. Can you promise not to pursue this matter or question why they taught Lutan to an outsider?”
Roxelyn stated.
She didn’t want anyone to suffer because of her actions, nor did she want to feel guilty.
When Roxelyn used Lutan, Second Prince Yuldian’s mouth dropped open.
‘When did this stuttering noblewoman become so fluent?’
Wasn’t she the one who couldn’t even lift her head, always looking at the ground?
Yet, how could she so calmly converse with a king who had such a menacing atmosphere?
‘I thought His Majesty had gone mad, leaving the negotiations to the Ducal Lady and telling us to not interfere…’
She was far more courageous than expected.
Yuldian had wanted to return to the Empire ever since Baian tore off a man’s arm with his bare hands.
‘If it weren’t for this woman, there would have been no reason to come this far.’
It felt like a form of retribution when he was selected, leaving him no choice but to come.
‘…I can’t understand anything at all, and it’s the same with this bastard, too.’
Yuldian glanced at Arma.
Yesterday, he was in dark clothes with his bangs pulled up, exposing his forehead, but today he was back in his usual white uniform.
His bangs were down as usual, and he was holding the book that was almost like his trademark.
‘He must have thought it didn’t suit him.’
Yuldian snickered to himself.
Wearing ill-fitting clothes must have been exhausting.
‘But what on earth are they blabbering about?’
Yuldian looked at the Kaluta man, who was laughing heartily, with a face full of frustration.
“Should I say it’s boldness, or should I warn that it’s better to be cautious?”
“If possible, please go with boldness.”
The two were conversing in a strange language unknown to Yuldian, keeping the discussion among themselves.
‘Do those guys in the back understand what’s being said?’
Yuldian wondered, looking at the expressionless Kaluta people.
Suddenly, Naryan, standing behind the Khan, caught Yuldian’s gaze and quickly winked at him.
‘…I want to go home.’
Yuldian shivered in disgust.
Arma also seemed frustrated, his expression slightly more rigid than usual.
He had been giving hints and looking at Roxelyn for a while now, asking for an explanation, but she hadn’t even glanced their way.
It was as if she had forgotten their presence altogether.
“Then, I promise.”
“Sansar.”
At the mention of that name, some of the Kaluta people paused.
The man’s eyes widened.
