The Beast of the Albard Mansion - Chapter 59
As twilight descended, we came down from the mountain. After finishing our private ceremony, I discarded the heavy dress and embraced Desi in a lighter attire. He easily picked me up and grinned.
“Already getting ready for the first night?” he teased.
“What are you talking about?”
“You can look forward to it. I’ve been anticipating and waiting for this day.”
“Don’t say such dreadful things.”
I shook my head in genuine fear. He’s been anticipating it? Did he plan to tear my body apart tonight? It sounded more like a threat than a promise to me.
Desi chuckled deeply and adjusted his hold on me. With a look of utter delight, he began to run down the mountain as if he had hidden a pot of gold at the bottom.
“Desi!”
I clung tightly to him, afraid of falling. We ran through the mountains as if they were his own backyard, stopping in front of a rustic cabin. The log cabin exuded a cozy, serene atmosphere.
“Where are we?”
“A temporary place to stay.”
For a temporary stay, the interior was well-furnished. There was a bed, a small table by the hearth, and everything seemed well-maintained, without a speck of dust. Desi embraced me from behind and whispered.
“Let’s go to the capital. You’ve always wanted to go.”
“Do we have a house in the capital?”
“Do you think I can’t get us one?”
“I hear houses in the capital are expensive.”
“I can manage that much.”
Desi suddenly started boasting about his abilities, explaining how he had secured this cabin for hunting trips and saved enough to buy a decent house in the capital. With a smug look, he glanced at me. I found his demeanor both cute and amusing, so I patted his bottom in approval.
“Ah! Desi, did you bring enough of my dowry?”
Our plan was simple. During the journey for the ceremony, Desi would ‘kidnap’ me along with the dowry. I had no intention of running away penniless. I felt a twinge of guilt towards my parents, but it was a bold plan for revenge.
Desi rummaged through his pocket.
“I got a few things.”
A few jewels tumbled out of his pocket. I jumped up and smacked his back.
“How could you bring so little? You should’ve taken more!”
“We don’t need that much.”
“How are we supposed to settle down with just this? We need to buy a house, furniture, and have living expenses until we find work.”
I fiddled with the jewels, feeling disheartened. Desi kissed my forehead and laughed.
“Don’t worry about that. Do you think I’d let you starve?”
“What, are hunters rich or something?”
“Do you think I’m just an ordinary hunter?”
Desi smirked arrogantly, looking very pleased with himself. I squinted at him and huffed, turning away.
“I heard werewolves never forget revenge. Don’t you have any grudge against Father?”
In the past, Desi had been beaten a lot by Father. I hoped he would have at least stolen enough dowry to get back at him a little. But Desi was too busy bragging to understand my feelings.
“I’ve already stole his most precious treasure.”
Desi lifted me by the waist and spun me around.
“You alone are enough for me.”
For a moment, my annoyance disappeared, replaced by happiness from Desi’s words. But I bit my lip, trying to hide my smile.
“Do you think sweet talk like that will work on me?”
Well, I’d already fallen for it.
“Don’t pretend you’re not happy.”
And Desi knew everything.
He carried me into the cabin, where everything was prepared. There was a bed with a soft quilt, fragrant flowers decorating the room, and even a luxurious velvet carpet that didn’t match the rustic cabin. I looked around the room in surprise and then at Desi.
“When did you prepare all this?”
Desi blushed slightly and cleared his throat.
This cunning beast had been singing about our first night for a reason. He had secretly decorated the room, bought furniture, and picked flowers. The thought of him doing all that made me want to squeal with delight. I grabbed his face and kissed his cheek.
“Desi, you’re too cute.”
“No one else calls me cute except you.”
“No, everyone thinks you’re cute. They just don’t say it. You’re adorable.”
I stroked Desi’s ears. His face turned red, and even his neck blushed. He’s such a shy young man. Surely, everyone finds him adorable.
But I liked that only I knew about Desi’s cuteness.
“If you act cute in front of others, I’ll spank you.”
I tried to sound threatening as I whispered in his ear. Desi snorted and walked towards the bed.
“What a tyrant.”
Then he threw me onto the bed.
“Ah!”
Without waiting, Desi pounced on me. My clothes tore like paper under his touch.
