The Contract Wife Tries to Leave - Chapter 151

“Take it, a gift.”
What Ilian Rediess held out was a small box. And a large bouquet.
The bouquet was uniquely made up of black roses. She thought that this flower suited this man almost painfully well.
“Not taking it?”
When Johanna didn’t move an inch, he shook the bouquet and gave a slight smirk, then rose from his seat. As he approached, Johanna flinched hard and pressed herself close to the window.
Ilian sat beside her, placed the bouquet on her lap, and opened the cover of the small box.
“I didn’t know your taste, so I bought it according to mine.”
Inside the box was a ring. A platinum band embedded with a blue diamond at the center. The ring was twisted in a Möbius knot, a shape that symbolized eternity.
“…….”
Johanna, at a loss for words, opened her mouth only to finally blurt out,
“Are you insane?”
“I hear that a lot.”
Without a hint of concern, he grabbed her hand abruptly. Though Johanna resisted with all her might, she couldn’t match the strength of a dominant Alpha.
Ilian grasped her left ring finger, removed her wedding ring, and without hesitation, extended his arm, opened the window, and tossed it outside carelessly. Johanna nearly let out a scream.
“What are you doing!”
“For you…”
Ignoring her protests, he slipped the blue diamond ring onto the now empty ring finger of her left hand. The ring fit perfectly, almost astonishingly so.
“This suits you better.”
He lowered his head and kissed the diamond atop the ring. When Johanna, horrified, pulled her hand away, he let go willingly, smiling mischievously. Tears welled up in Johanna’s eyes as they trembled with a mix of fear and anger.
Seeing her pitiful expression, an inexplicable thrill surged within Ilian’s chest.
“And this is…”
“…!”
“Another gift.”
The carriage came to a halt. Almost simultaneously, a potent pheromone, reminiscent of dark wine, poured over Johanna like a waterfall.
In that moment, Johanna instinctively called upon her skill to blend magic and pheromones, invoking a calm to subdue his aggression and excitement.
Sensing the serene current that enveloped Johanna, Ilian hesitated, appearing to falter ever so slightly. But then.
“Ah…!”
An overwhelming dominance flooded over Johanna, mixed with the Alpha pheromone.
Only then did Johanna realize that he, too, was a user of the blend. This was an intimidation, a phenomenon that arose when Alpha pheromone and magic fused.
The Alpha’s pheromones clung to her skin, heightening all her senses sharply. Her body trembled violently, and her breathing became erratic. Unconsciously, Johanna curled in on herself, desperately trying to endure.
In a dizzying moment, she felt on the verge of losing consciousness.
Ilian withdrew his pheromones.
Johanna panted, trying to regain her composure. Her body felt weak, and tears streamed down her cheeks. When she looked up at him, he gazed back with a satisfied smile on his lips.
“The scent when our pheromones mix…”
“…”
“Drives me absolutely insane.”
He reached out and gently stroked Johanna’s tear-streaked face. Even at that light touch, she flinched noticeably, holding back a gasp. Ilian chuckled lowly and lifted her, bouquet and all, into his arms.
The carriage door opened. Through her blurred vision, she recognized the familiar surroundings—the front gates of the Weimar estate.
“As much as it pains me, I have no choice but to return you to Leonid Neubitz.”
“…”
“Otherwise, that madman would probably chase me to hell and back…”
He laughed softly as he set Johanna down before the entrance. She couldn’t sit up straight, collapsing to her side, utterly exhausted from the pheromone onslaught.
Ilian plucked a handful of black rose petals, scattering them over her body. Then, he pulled a single pristine rose from the bouquet, tossing the rest aside.
He knelt beside her, bringing the black rose to his lips in a long, lingering kiss. Slowly, he withdrew his lips from the flower and tucked it behind her ear.
“Johanna Lucerne.”
“…”
“If the Marquis Neubitz discards you, come to me.”
“…”
“No, it’s inevitable that it’ll happen.”
“…”
“In the end, he’ll grow tired of you.”
