The Contract Wife Tries to Leave - Chapter 87
The next morning, when Johanna opened her eyes, she wasn’t alone.
“……”
Leonid was lying beside her, fast asleep. Not just that—he was holding her tightly in his arms.
But that wasn’t the most shocking part. Feeling something sticky and uncomfortable, she ran her hand over her chest, and something dry and whitish flaked off onto her fingers.
“……”
No matter how she looked at it… it was exactly what she thought it was.
‘What on earth…’
Johanna mouthed silently as she stared at Leonid. He was fast asleep, oblivious to the world, completely unaware of anything happening around him. His usually sharp, tense expression had softened, making him appear gentler than ever before.
His eyelashes were incredibly long and thick, and even up close, his skin was flawless—without a single blemish. Could a person really look like this? She blinked in disbelief, staring in a daze before her hand unconsciously reached out.
Her fingertips brushed against his cheek. His skin was much softer than she had imagined, and she gently ran her fingers down it. Her heart pounded in her chest, as if a bomb had just gone off inside. She knew she should pull her hand away, but the temptation to touch him just a little longer was hard to resist.
And her eyes kept drifting to his lips. She wanted to trace the perfect shape with her fingertips. Just imagining being caught made her dizzy with worry about how she could possibly explain herself. But in the end, she gave in to her impulsive desire.
“……”
His pale lips were as soft as freshly plucked flower petals. They were so smooth without a single crack that it felt almost unreal. The shape was perfectly symmetrical, with the upper lip just slightly thinner than the lower one. He was so harmonious in every way, it was almost hard to believe that such a being could exist.
As Johanna absentmindedly stroked his lips, she suddenly snapped back to her senses and quickly pulled her hand away. Her heart raced as if she’d been caught stealing. Carefully, she began to remove his arm from around her waist, inching away little by little.
It was odd how such a sensitive man could sleep so soundly, but at the same time, an anxious urgency to leave the bed overcame her. She had an inexplicable desire to escape before he woke up.
After successfully wriggling free from his embrace like a slow-moving insect, Johanna hurriedly slipped off the bed and rushed to the bathroom. She desperately wanted to wash away the stickiness clinging to her body.
Shaaahhh.
The steady sound of running water echoed in the background as Leonid woke up.
Still lying on his side, he stared blankly at the empty space beside him. His first thought was, where am I? The second thought that followed was that, for once, he had slept deeply.
Leonid, often plagued by migraines and insomnia, rarely got restful sleep without painkillers or sleeping pills. He couldn’t usually sleep for more than four hours, and even then, his rest was often interrupted by strange dreams.
But today… for some reason, he had slept deeply without even dreaming. It was an unusually peaceful experience for him.
It wasn’t even his room. Realizing that belatedly, Leonid frowned as he sat up. Something felt sticky on his skin, and as he looked at his palm, he noticed dried white flakes stuck to it. It didn’t take long for him to understand what it was. A flood of memories from the previous night rushed back to him like a storm.
“…Ha…”
A sigh, heavy with shame, escaped his lips. He ran a hand over his face, laughing in disbelief.
Damn pheromones. Damn alpha instincts.
His eyes, sharp and cold, gleamed through the gaps between his fingers.
Irritated, he threw the blanket off and grabbed a robe, throwing it haphazardly over his body. He headed for the door, desperate to escape the omega pheromones that still lingered in the room.
But in an instant, his thoughts shifted, and he turned toward the bathroom instead. Blood boiled with rage, and his mind was in complete disarray.
Bang!
He threw the door open with a loud crash, startling the woman soaking in the tub. She flinched violently in shock. Her wide turquoise eyes, now full of confusion, stared back at him. Leonid strode toward her without a moment’s hesitation.
“I’ve been thinking.”
“……?”
“The way I see it, as long as there’s an omega like you, who has to share a bed with me, living in my house, there are bound to be plenty more times when I feel disgusted.”
Her platinum eyelashes trembled slightly. The tiny droplets of water clinging to the tips finally gave in, falling with a soft plop.
“Rather than feeling disgusted every time, I think I’d prefer to just get used to it.”
With that, he stepped into the bathtub.
