The Dragon Duke's Wife - Chapter 9
Ancia turned around in surprise. Her lips met with his over the veil.
“Mmm.”
The veil grew damp with moisture. Khalid extended his tongue over the veil and lightly licked her lips.
“What are you doing?”
“Why are you thinking so deeply? You didn’t even notice I came in.”
“What is this…?”
When Ancia asked, Khalid smiled and traced his fingers from her forehead down to her nose.
“We couldn’t have a wedding, but I thought I’d at least put a veil on you.”
“Where did you get it?”
“It’s probably from some long-ago ancestor who was once jilted. I had the butler fetch it. We might as well use something passed down, right?”
“Well, that’s true.”
“There are only two things I inherited, though.”
He said this while showing her the tiara. It too looked quite old.
Ancia wanted to examine the tiara more closely, but since Khalid placed it on her head, she couldn’t. She didn’t feel like trying to take it off to inspect it. Instead, she touched the embroidery and lace at the end of the veil and smiled. She appreciated his thoughtfulness.
“Even though I didn’t get to wear a wedding dress, at least I get to wear a veil. Thank you.”
Khalid reached out his hand. Ancia was startled. She thought he had grabbed her arm, but in an instant, she was swept into his arms.
“Duke!”
“I thought you’ve been practicing my name a lot?”
She remembered when she had been calling his name and blushed. She felt a strange sensation in her stomach, as if it were fluttering.
“Put me down.”
“No.”
Still holding her, Khalid walked swiftly. Ancia tapped his shoulder several times, but his firm shoulders didn’t budge.
“Where are you taking me?”
“Now that we’re married, we’re heading to our bridal chamber.”
“But it’s still morning!”
“Well, looks like the wedding ended too early.”
Khalid replied with a playful tone.
He stepped up the stairs. The household staff paused and bowed in respect, and a few maids peeked out from behind the door, giggling.
Though she was dressed in casual clothes, the veil that draped to the floor made Ancia feel strange. It felt as though she was actually going through with a wedding.
“Duke.”
“I told you to call me Kal.”
The question of why he was doing this rose to her throat.
But she was glad she didn’t ask. It made her feel like she was genuinely loved, as if she were truly married, even though this was only a temporary marriage for the six-month trial period.
Ancia thought they would head to her room, but Khalid carried her through the central door of the second floor.
Inside, the atmosphere was completely different from the east wing where Ancia’s room was. The space, decorated with old sculptures, pottery, swords and shields, and gold and silk, was the Duke of Velados’ living room.
“Duke?”
“You can’t set up the bridal chamber in a place like that.”
As he spoke, Khalid crossed through the sitting room and study, opening the door to the bedroom. The windows were draped with deep red velvet curtains, casting the room in dim light.
“Now it feels more real, doesn’t it?”
He grinned as he placed Ancia gently on the bed. Ancia curled up slightly.
Though she had signed the marriage contract just earlier, this room felt overwhelming. It was the most private and intimate space of the Duke of Velados. Even if she were allowed in, she had expected it to be after quite some time—unless it was for nursing duties.
“If this was your plan, why did you bother having me unpack yesterday?”
“There wasn’t much to unpack, was there? I know you only took out this dress and a few undergarments from your bag.”
Khalid leaned down and kissed her through the veil again, savoring it for a long moment. Ancia’s lips, brushing against the veil, turned a soft, swollen red.
“I miscalculated,” he muttered with a low and gravelly voice. Ancia held her breath, sensing the thick desire laced in his tone.
“My original plan was to give you time to get accustomed to the mansion. That’s why I prepared the room in the east wing. But how could I wait so long?”
Khalid slowly lifted her veil with both hands. Ancia’s cheeks were flushed with embarrassment.
“When I want you this much.”
“But after yesterday, and again today… This is too much.”
“I want you.”
Just hearing those words made Ancia’s body heat up. She felt her legs growing wet, like a well springing to life.
“This is our first night together.”
“It’s not even night.”
“It will be soon enough.”
His lips pressed against hers once more.
He was impatient after two interrupted kisses, so Khalid’s tongue immediately parted her lips. Though she had no intention of resisting, Ancia instinctively placed her hands on his shoulders as if to push him away.
Khalid didn’t stop, instead pulling her and gently laying her down on the bed.
His soft tongue teased the inside of her lips, tapping lightly against her teeth, asking for entry. Hesitantly, Ancia parted her lips slightly. Like a conqueror, he swept inside, tangling his tongue with hers.
“Mmm…”
Ancia’s hands gripped his shoulders tightly before slowly sliding upward to wrap around his neck.
Khalid’s hand cupped her b****t, causing her to flinch. Now her n–ples were stiff. Whether from nervousness or something else, her entire chest seems swollen, the fabric of her dress felt uncomfortably tight.
