The Elven Duke Reluctantly Marries The Cursed Lady - Chapter 0
This is a tale from a long time ago.
There was once a country where magic had become obsolete. This was caused by the magic wars in the ancient times, where magic users used magic to commit heinous acts. And because of it, magic was recognized as a cursed power.
The Inquisition hunted these mages and went around burning books about magic. Magic was treated as an abomination, and many of them were executed.
As a result, both good and evil magic disappeared altogether.
Magic is an evil power and should not be touched upon. Humans must carve out their destiny through their own power.
Humans lived for a hundred, five hundred, then a thousand years faithfully following this belief.
Without relying on magic, people took fate into their own hands and made history.
But in an unexpected turn of events, the Demon King appeared.
The Demon King led his forces to trample upon the humans one after another. The humans tried to fight back, but their weapons were no match against the demons under the Demon King’s command.
Large cities fell one after another. It became clear to the humans that these demons could only be taken down by magic.
But for the last thousand years of history, magic and the people who practiced it have all but disappeared.
Standing on the edge of despair, a young man rose up. This youth was Dicentra, the second prince of Lilliphiltia. “We should beseech the sages of the forest for help,” he said.
More commonly known as Elves, these sages of the forest were a race skilled in magic. However, they never appeared in human villages and were believed to only exist in the world of fairy tales.
Overcoming the opposition of those around him, Prince Dicentra learned the art of summoning from a forbidden book on magic, and summoned the Great Spirit Pomeranian using a magic circle that remained in the basement of the royal castle.
And so, Prince Dicentra set out on a journey with Pomeranian.
At the end of their long journey, they finally reached the settlement where these forest sages lived, but they were immediately driven back.
It was a common belief that these sages of the forest were stubborn and hated humans, so this result was quite expected. Still, the prince approached them again to negotiate. He offered to grant the second-most authority in the country to the person who defeated the Demon King.
An eccentric elf took him up on his offer. His name was Zion Laudense.
Cooperating with the prince, Zion defeated the Demon King. In turn, he was granted a Dukedom and married the most beautiful woman in the country. This is the reason why there is an Elven Duke in the Kingdom of Lilliphiltia.
Since then, people’s perception towards magic has softened.
Zion Laudense taught the people the correct way to use magic.
And because of this, magic gradually became an integral part of people’s lives.
Meanwhile, the House of Laudense, which the elf who chose to live alongside the humans founded, also began to see changes.
As a result of their interactions with the humans over time, their blood as a long-lived species had become diluted. Normally, elves live for 1000 to 2000 years. However, although the members of the Laudense family look like elves, their lifespans are no different from a human’s.
But despite that, they still possessed mana and knowledge comparable to a Demon King so the people of Lilliphiltia continued to show great respect to the Ducal House of Laudense.
A thousand years have passed since the Duchy of Laudense was founded in Lilliphiltia.
After the passing of his predecessor due to illness, the heir who was 26 years old at that time took over the position of Duke. The young Duke’s name was Hydrangea von Laudense.
It is said that even the angels of the mythological times would fall on one knee in admiration of his beauty.
Hydrangea had long shining silver hair, a set of slender, mysterious purple eyes, and a well-defined, sculpted face. He is tall and lean, with a body that is incomparable with that of a mage’s.
Everyone recognizes him as the most beautiful man in Lilliphiltia.
Despite his young age, he is the commander of the Magic Division, and is an excellent mage who commands all 10,000 members of the division.
But even though he was the very embodiment of perfection, Hydrangea was… somewhat peculiar.
