- Chapter 11 - The Courting Elf And The Very Meowtiful Cat (Part 2)
“There is no way that I would welcome a mistress into my life,” after hearing this, Count Northpole looked relieved.
“My last request is… won’t you please be affectionate with my sister?”
“Hah?”
“She might be a bit selfish and cheeky, but she is my dearest sister. If you could at least show her some affection.”
Those were the three wishes of Count Northpole.
“I can’t say for sure that I would grant them, but rest assured that I have heard them.”
“Thank you so much. But, well, your feelings might still change as you live together…”
I don’t know about that. Hydrangea swallowed such cold words before it escaped his lips.
Hydrangea quickly pulled his hand away from Count Northpole’s grip and left this time.
“Um, thank you very much!”
“I didn’t do anything to warrant your thanks.”
“No, but I think this is the ideal marriage for my sister.”
An ideal marriage. Is there such a thing?
A marriage between nobles does not consider the feelings of either party. Its purpose is to make connections between families. And for this reason, it is not uncommon for couples to quickly have children and live apart.
A couple that is on good terms with each other is a rarity in noble society. Almost everyone has a lover or two.
What kind of couple would we be?
I couldn’t imagine it at all.
Hydrangea contemplated as he walked along the cold, dimly lit hallway of Count Northpole’s house.
This is not the kind of environment in which a small child should be raised in.
For now, I shall have some firewood delivered when I get back.
Hydrangea arrived at the entrance just as he was planning his next task.
Then, just as he was putting on his coat which he received from the old butler, he heard the footsteps of a small being.
[Great, you haven’t left yet!]
Violette’s cat form was simply graceful and divine.
She was so beautiful that it almost made him dizzy.
Once again, he realized that Violette was the most beautiful cat he had ever seen.
But even though his mind was filled with such fuzzy thoughts, the words that came out of his mouth were cold.
“Did you need something?”
[That is, will you really teach me magic once we get married?]
“It depends on your willingness.”
Violette’s eyes sparkled and her tail puffed up.
She must be very happy.
[Merry, won’t you be so kind as to pick me up and accompany me to Duke Laudense? I would like to say my thanks and bid him goodbye.]
The young maid called Merry picked up Violette and took her to Hydrangea.
However, the maid was short, so Violette was still quite far down.
[Duke Laudense, could you bend a little?]
Violette requested in a pompous way. Her selfishness came out right away.
Very well, I shall follow just for today, Hydrangea thought as he bent over as he was told.
[Thank you for visiting today. I am also ever so grateful for your courtship.]
Violette gave her thanks in an admirable manner which Hydrangea found surprising.
But unbeknownst to him, her unexpected behavior continued.
[Oh, and please do not forget to teach me magic.]
Saying this, Violette leaned forward, placed her forelegs on his arm and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Hydrangea’s eyes widened at the sensation of her soft, fluffy fur and became speechless.
[Fufu. Farewell.]
Violette greeted him as her tail swayed lazily. It was a little frustrating, but he thought she was the cutest cat in the world.
