“I have used an ancient enchantment that enables that ribbon to adjust to its wearer’s size. Take good care of it, alright?”
“Wha—”
“By the way, you can also change its color.”
“…..”
She continued to complain about the ribbon, but Hydrangea was more concerned about the dog she was holding in her arms.
“Why are you carrying Pomeranian with you?”
“I met this child near the dining room. You have such an adorable puppy.”
“Adorable, huh.”
Although Pomeranian looks like a cute little dog, beyond his exterior lies a Great Spirit that has lived for more than a thousand years. He also sounds like a middle-aged man and doesn’t like to mingle with people.
And yet, he has been letting Violette pet him on the head since earlier.
When the butler Heliotrope reached out to take Pomeranian away, he jumped out from Violette’s embrace and avoided his outstretched hands.
“As you can see, he does not like people that much.”
“I see. He was well-behaved when I picked him up, so I thought he was used to people.”
I wonder why he let her pet him like that? Hydrangea thought. Come to think of it, I did hear that he got along with my late mother.
Hydrangea considered that Pomeranian probably liked women.
Currently, only Hydrangea knew that Pomeranian was the Great Spirit while everyone thought that he was just an ordinary dog. It seemed like he did not plan on revealing the truth to Violette either.
“Come and sit down before the soup gets cold.”
“I’ll sit even if you don’t tell me.”
Violette sat down on the chair the attendant had pulled out for her and glared at Hydrangea before she started on her breakfast.
“If you keep on glaring like that, you’ll get wrinkles in between your eyebrows.”
“Well, that’s because you do things that make me want to wrinkle my brows.”
Violette quieted down after the tea was served.
After that, she began to eat her breakfast in silence. Hydrangea appreciated the fact that she observed proper etiquette despite her personality.
Breakfast consisted of pumpkin potage, freshly baked bread, half-boiled eggs, and crispy bacon. Although it was the usual fare, the breakfast was different because Violette was there. Hydrangea thought she was beautiful and that it wouldn’t be so bad to be with her only if she kept her mouth shut.
“I am going to submit our marriage contract to His Majesty today. Please sign here.”
Heliotrope presented the marriage certificate that was placed on a silver tray in front of Violette. The document was already stamped with Count Northpole’s family crest, and it was also already signed by the current head of the family. All that remained was for Violette to fill in her name.
“Th-this is…!”
“I have to go to work right away. Hurry up and sign it.”
“I-I have no intention of marrying you ever!”
“What a coincidence. I don’t want to marry you either, yet I have no choice but to do so because of my circumstances.”
“Wh, what did you say!?”
Violette hit the dining table with a bang and stood up. As she was about to leave the dining room, Hydrangea strode up to her and grabbed her shoulder.
[N-nya!?]
Violette’s figure changed from that of a beautiful girl to a cat.
Hydrangea then grabbed her and carried her back to the table.
She struggled and flailed around, but he kept her in place. It was almost time for him to go to work, so he did not have any patience to deal with her.
“Heliotrope, bring out the red ink.”
“As you wish.”
He pressed Violette’s paw against the red ink prepared on the table.
[Wh-what are you doing?]
“I’m stamping your paw in lieu of your signature.”
[S-stop it! I shall not get married to y—]
With a light tap, Violette’s paw was pressed against the marriage certificate. And with this, the marriage certificate was complete.
Violette moved away as soon as she was released from Hydrangea’s hold. But at the next moment, she leapt towards him.
[Hand over that marriage contract!!]
“See you, Lady Violette.”
And with that, Hydrangea cast his Transfer Magic and was gone in an instant.
Violette’s outstretched hand never reached the document.
