Hydrangea fell to his knees as soon as he arrived at his office in the Magic Division.
“Light as a feather and exquisitely fluffy…!”
The first cat he carried had the softest fur, was very warm, and smelled nice.
It’s the best. Cats are the best creatures after all. Hydrangea put his hand on his chest and savored the happiness he felt from holding a cat in his arms.
He wanted to write a poem about the emotion he felt while holding a cat in his arms and compiling it into a book, but he had to attend a summons from the King today. He picked up the marriage certificate from the floor and placed it on his desk.
He knew that a cat’s paw stamp alone would not be acknowledged, so he worked on refining it.
After a while, his adjutant Quince arrived.
“Good morning, Lord Laudense.”
“Good morning to you too.”
“You seem to be in a good mood tod— Ah!”
Quince’s gaze fell on the marriage certificate.
“Are you going to His Majesty to submit your marriage certificate?”
“Indeed.”
“Congratulations!”
I can finally get away from those “get married already” attacks.
The thought made his heart lighter.
“Prepare a silver tray. I will bring this to His Majesty right now.”
“Right away, Your Excellency!
He had Quince put the document on the silver tray and had him carry it. Then, they moved to the palace where the King was using Transfer Magic.
“Urp–!!”
After they arrived at the King’s palace, Quince crouched down. His complexion was pallid, and his lips were tinged blue.
“Are you still not used to it?”
“A-apologies, Your Excellency.”
Transfer Magic could cause even those with abundant mana to become nauseated, and Quince was one of those who are affected by it. The cause is unknown, but Hydrangea suspects that it is probably caused by a problem in magic aptitude.
He held out his hand over Quince and granted him a small blessing.
— Benedetta. Heal the cause of his discomfort.
After that, Quince’s color turned to normal, and his lips also turned back to a healthy color.
“Th-thank you very much. I feel much better now.”
“Then let’s go.”
“Yes, Your Excellency!”
They passed through the saluting Royal Guard Knights and proceeded down the red-carpeted hall which led them to three strictly locked doors before arriving at the King’s chambers.
Since the King is currently recuperating, he takes care of political affairs from his chambers while Magnolia, the Crown Prince, is his proxy for official business which require personal attendance.
The heavy door was unlocked for them by one of the Royal Guard Knights, so they entered and crossed the living room which led to the King’s bedroom.
“Oooh, if it isn’t Hydrangea!”
The King was lying on a canopied bed supported by four pillars.
Hydrangea tilted his head as he noticed that the King looked plumper than when he visited him a month ago.
The King is currently on a restricted diet under the instructions of the Court Physician. He was also advised to avoid having sweet things, so why is he in this condition?
Although it sounds good to describe him as broadly built and dignified, he’s basically fat.
“Your Majesty, have you taken the magic potion I prepared for you?”
Hydrangea asked as he briskly approached the King.
A magic potion is a medicine made using magic.
Hydrangea had created a magic potion for him which lowered blood sugar and gave it to the King to drink once a week. The King had been lying low because he was suffering from high blood sugar and glycosuria. [1]
Although he continued to receive treatment, his symptoms did not improve, so the King had asked the Court Physician to prepare a highly effective magic potion for him.
“So, have you taken the magic potion?”
“Uhh…!”
“Does this mean you haven’t taken it?”
“Uuuuuhhhh….!”
It seemed like the King had not taken the special medicine that he prepared. When asked why, he was told that it was bitter and bad-tasting.
Hydrangea could only sigh in response.
“Your face is a little swollen. Are your eyes also itchy?
“…..”
“Is something the matter?”
“I-it’s just, you look like your late father.”
“I get that a lot.”
Hydrangea heard that his father was a self-confident, arrogant, and insolent person who did not understand the hearts of others. He was not happy at all to be told he resembled his father, but he could only resign himself to the fact that their bloodline was just like that.
“You haven’t been eating sweets, right?”
“Yes, I’ve refused them just as the physician ordered.”
