- Chapter 43 - The Happy Elf And The Unexpected Situation (Part 2)
Violette noticed the wound at the back of Hydrangea’s hand which he stabbed with the quill pen earlier to endure her cuteness. Although he stabbed himself shallow enough to not induce bleeding, his skin broke at some point and was now bleeding.
“It’s just a small scratch.”
[But it looks like it hurts.]
Violette touched his wound and pressed her squishy paw against his hand again.
“—-!”
[See, it hurts after all.]
“I’ve already been healed.”
[Pardon?]
“I mean, something as simple as this could be healed with magic.”
Violette gasped when she saw the area that was healed using Recovery magic.
[So this is Recovery magic!]
“That’s right.”
Almost all mages, including those at the lowest position, could use Recovery magic.
[Would I be able to use it as well?]
“Yes, of course. With the amount of mana that you have, you would be able to use up to Intermediate-level Recovery Magic.”
It was required for a mage to possess the Wind attribute to be able to use Advance-level Recovery Magic.
“If you want, I shall also teach you Recovery magic.”
[I’m looking forward to it!]
Thus, their lessons came to an end.
He sent Violette, Pomeranian, and Snow White directly to their bedroom via Transfer magic.
Snow White suddenly woke up when she was about to be picked up while Pomeranian remained asleep even when he was carried.
[Dear husband, thank you for today.]
“You’re welcome. I do not know when the next time would be, but hopefully we could meet like this again soon.”
[I’m looking forward to it.]
After their exchange, Hydrangea went to bed as well.
◇◇◇
After work the next day, Hydrangea visited Count Northpole’s estate unannounced.
The support he provided seemed to be put to good use. The mansion had now become brighter, and the number of servants had increased.
Count Northpole greeted him and repeatedly bowed as he welcomed Hydrangea into the receiving room for guests. This time, tea was also served immediately.
“Sorry for dropping by so suddenly.”
“Oh it’s no problem, you can visit anytime.”
Count Northpole’s complexion has visibly improved and it’s the first time that he has shown such a radiant expression. Perhaps his sister was the main source of his worries for many years.
“I came by because I have several questions for you.”
“What is it?”
“It’s about Violette’s magical attribute and mana level.”
Count Northpole was the type of person who could not lie to save his life. His eyes widened and his expression stiffened as soon as Hydrangea broached the subject.
This is the face of someone… who knows something.
“It seems you know something and are trying to hide it.”
“Th-that’s…”
“Why did you not tell me about it?”
“…..”
“Did your father order you not to say anything?”
“…..”
Count Northpole grew increasingly pale. His silence only brought affirmation to Hydrangea’s suspicion.
“Could it be that it would be inconvenient for you to reveal that your sister Violette not only possessed a rare attribute but also a vast amount of mana?”
Even though he already revealed this much, Count Northpole bit his lip and refused to tell the truth. Hydrangea knew that Confession magic was ineffective against the man as well, so he did not consider using it.
“Did you think I would hand your sister over to the magic research institute?”
“No, I never thought of such a thing!”
“Then why did you hide it from me?”
“……”
Again, Count Northpole kept his mouth shut.
A deep crease formed between Hydrangea’s brows as he struggled to find the reason behind the man’s refusal to speak.
“Look, I do not wish to harm Violette. I swear to protect her for life. However, I won’t be able to do so if I don’t know anything.”
“!”
It would be too late if he only found out after something happened, so it was important for him to know about it now.
“Now tell me, Count Northpole.”
“Th-that’s—-”
Count Northpole opened his tightly clenched hands and appeared as if he was finally ready to open up. However, they were interrupted at that moment.
“Get out of the way! I have business with the Count!!”
A rough and violent voice boomed across the hallway and a stockily-built man in his forties unceremoniously opened the door to the room. Hydrangea recognized the man from the photo he had seen during his investigation.
“Tritoma Celsia—!”
It was Tritoma Celsia, the corrupt merchant who extorted the assets of the Count Northpole house.
