- The Elven Duke Reluctantly Marries The Cursed Lady
- Chapter 46 - The Explaining Elf And His Shocked Wife (Part 1)
Various things came to light in a short period of time.
First, the evil merchant Tritoma Celsia had proposed marriage to Violette 10 years ago. Back then, Violette also turned into a cat due to the curse.
Tritoma Celsia suspected that Syran was the one who had cursed his daughter.
Although his side of the story sounded suspicious, he continued to blackmail Count Northpole and even demanded to receive hush money for over 10 years.
From there, Hydrangea made his guesses:
To protect his daughter 10 years ago, Syran must have beaten Tritoma Celsia up because he believed that the latter may have placed a curse on his daughter where she would turn into a cat when touched by the opposite gender.
But how did this happen?
He could not think of any other reason except Tritoma had attacked Violette.
Maybe Syran didn’t want to marry off his daughter, so he drove the man into a corner so he had no choice but to give her to him.
Violette was only a 9-year-old little girl at that time.
But even if she were not a little girl, it was still absurd and unforgivable.
If that mild-mannered Syran was going to attack Tritoma Celsia, then it would not have been strange if he did something much worse.
If my guess is correct, then I could understand Count Northpole’s insistence on preventing this from being exposed.
But what I don’t understand is Violette’s curse.
The assault case involving Syran took place before he visited the Forbidden Archive.
It was unbelievable that he would not know how to break a curse he cast himself.
The deployment of magic involves the construction of complex magic formulae and a perfect understanding of the technique to invoke it.
Moreover, a curse will break once the person who cast it dies.
Since Violette’s curse remains even now, then Syran was not the one who cast it.
The next suspect is that mage who is in league with Tritoma Celsia.
They seem to be quite capable.
Using magic remotely requires a high level of skill.
Transfer magic is an especially high-level magic, so being able to cast it remotely is nothing short of a miracle.
With that skill, the mage might be a Deuteros or a Stoicheia like me.
But what concerns me is that the other side hasn’t made their move regarding the curse.
If they were the ones who cursed her, then they could have negotiated to lift the curse in exchange for marriage.
So why didn’t they do it?
Did they intentionally ignore the matter with the curse so Tritoma Celsia could continue extorting money from Count Northpole?
Something feels off.
Hydrangea made several more guesses about the curse, but none of his theories fit.
It seemed as if someone else had placed the curse on Violette.
But who and why on earth would they curse her?
He checked on Violette through the crystal.
She was sitting on the carpet in her room and playing with Snow White using a cat toy while Pomeranian stayed beside her.
The scene reflected on the crystal looked fun and peaceful.
It’s a miracle the incident didn’t cast a shadow over Violette’s mind.
But there was one thing he was wondering whether to try or not.
It was a magic that would interfere with Violette’s mind and bring back memories that she did not remember. It was a fairly dangerous magic, so he had been unable to cast it.
Since it also affects the person who casts it, he was unable to attempt it.
The only thing Hydrangea could do right now was to protect Violette.
Since the other party has already discovered his marriage to Violette, they will surely begin to make their move.
Fortunately, Violette could not leave the Laudense mansion.
The First also cast a spell on the estate to keep intruders from trespassing.
It may look like an ordinary mansion at first glance, but the estate was built like an impregnable fortress.
Violette will be safe as long as she stays within the premises.
However, I must increase measures in case something happens.
I should call Violette over and talk to her for now.
