- Chapter 54 - The Lucky OOO Elf And His Confused Wife (Part 1)
“Huh?!?”
Hydrangea had been holding the beautiful, warm, and fluffy cat in his lap just moments ago, but it was suddenly replaced by a blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty.
Of course, both forms were Violette, but the sudden change took him by surprise.
It seemed like Violette was also surprised with the curse lifting. Her eyes, which were as blue as the ocean, were wide open as if they were about to spill.
The moment their eyes met, Violette covered Hydrangea’s eyes, nose, and mouth with both hands.
“Mmmph—-!!”
I understand her covering my eyes and mouth but if she covers my nose too, I would be unable to breathe.
I’ll die if this continues. Can’t breathe. Dying.
First class mage, Hydrangea von Laudense of the Magic Division dies, age 26.
Cause of death: Asphyxiation. Dies after a struggle with his wife due to his love of cats.
… such a headline flitted through his mind, so he hurriedly reached out to grab Violette’s shoulder to peel her away from him.
However, an unexpected sensation halted his thought process.
He used a little force when he grabbed Violette’s shoulder so he could push her away from him, but… he grabbed something else instead.
That part was soft, squishy, and felt nice to the touch.
Since his eyes were covered, a question mark hung over his mind as he tried to pinpoint what it was. A moment later, he heard a high-pitched scream that ripped through his eardrums.
“KYAAAAAAA~~!! Verbena, anyone!!”
When she called out, the doors were flung open at the same time.
“Madam!!”
Judging by the sound of their footsteps, Verbena and three other attendants must have entered the room.
Still, Violette was still covering his eyes, nose, and mouth with her hands.
He quickly removed his hand from the soft thing he was touching and felt as if he had touched something he shouldn’t have.
“M-madam!?”
“I-I suddenly changed back into human. H-how did that happen!?”
“W-why…”
“Mmmmph…!!
Hydrangea immediately called for help. Verbena noticed his sorry state and called Violette’s attention.
“Aah, Madam, it’s fine to cover Master’s eyes and mouth, but if you cover his nose too, he’ll die!”
“Ah, uh… R-right. I’m sorry.”
Violette removed her hand from his mouth. However, when Hydrangea took a deep breath, he also took in Violette’s scent. He thought she smelled incredibly nice.
It also made him feel quite awkward.
“Madam, I’ve brought you some sheets.”
“Th-thank you.”
“This way, please.”
Violette finally got off from Hydrangea’s lap and was guided to another room by the attendants.
Hydrangea took deep breaths.
Verbena, who seemed to have remained in the room, worriedly peeked at Hydrangea.
“M-master, are you alright?”
“Don’t mind me. Go attend to Violette.”
“A-as you wish.”
How did this happen? He poured some grape juice from the pitcher on top of the table into a glass and drank it in one go. However, the pitcher seemed to contain alcohol instead of juice, and Hydrangea coughed again.

He couldn’t keep the prince waiting any longer, so he returned to Prince Magnolia.
When he entered the guest room, there was a pile of magic books on the table.
“It’s been a while since I last visited the Laudense family’s library.”
Hydrangea had given a key to the library to Prince Magnolia who was his apprentice, saying that he could visit anytime. There were several books that interested the prince so he read them while waiting.
“So, what happened with your wife?”
“She suddenly turned back into human.”
“Heeeh…..”
Violette told Hydrangea that it took at least five hours to change back into a human.
Hydrangea’s records even indicated that it took at least five to ten hours for Violette to change back from being a cat.
But today, it had only been an hour since Violette had turned into a cat and then suddenly changed back into her human form.
Moreover, she did not become a cat again even when he touched her.
“What’s going on…”
“Does this mean the curse has been broken?”
It would be a cause for celebration if that were the case. After all, Violette hated turning into a cat. On top of not being able to socialize among the nobles, she was not even allowed to leave the house.
She was an unfortunate girl.
If she weren’t cursed, then she would have been married by now and become a splendid Lady.
