“D-dear brother… I never knew you could shout so loudly.”
“Violette, were you even listening to what I said?”
“Yes, of course. But rather than that, I was more surprised by your loud voice.”
Count Northpole dejectedly hung his head. Hydrangea understood the sentiment too well.
“My poor brother. You’re shaking so much…”
‘It must be deathly cold,’ Violette muttered under her breath and earnestly asked Hydrangea again.
“Hey, won’t you light the fireplace with your magic?”
What she was demanding was not just some ordinary fire, but extraordinary flames made of fire magic.
“There’s a spell called Immortal Flame, isn’t there? If you use that, then it won’t be necessary to buy firewood anymore.”
Hydrangea sighed as he responded to her inquiry.
“Immortal Flame is a high-level spell that mages with the fire attribute use.”
“You… Seem like you possess the ice attribute.”
“No, I possess all four elemental attributes. However, element-exclusive spells can only be used by mages who possess the corresponding elements.”
“I see.”
This specific bit of knowledge can only be found in one of the forbidden books. I’m curious where she learned it, but now is not the time to pursue the matter.
Count Northpole was still shaking as he held his head in his hands. Hydrangea suspected that he might have been pushed around by Violette until now and felt sorry for the man.
“Can you at least light a fire?”
“Rather than asking someone else to do it for you, it would be faster if you learned magic yourself.”
“Father said that magic was dangerous so he forbade it.”
“Your father wasn’t the only mage, wasn’t he?”
“My brother is unable to use magic.”
“Does your world only revolve around these people?”
There were many mages now unlike in the past. Hydrangea pointed to himself and subtly told Violette that there was one right in front of her.
“Would you perhaps be able to teach me magic?”
“Well, if you insist…”
Before he could finish his sentence, Violette abruptly stood up and headed straight for Hydrangea. She willfully sat beside him and gave him a hug.
Her b*****s, which had strongly stood out from the moment they met, were pressed against him.
At the same time, Violette declared,
“Brother, I will marry this person!”
“Viole—”
Just as Count Northpole was about to say something, something clicked and a popping sound was heard. Then, a magic circle appeared next to Hydrangea.
Then, the soft object pressed against his arm suddenly changed… and became soft… and fluffy.
“Wha—!?”
Hydrangea was at a loss for words. The beautiful woman who was embracing his arm moments ago had taken on the form of a cat with golden fur.
The cat had long, fluffy fur, pricked ears and a thick tail. Its blue eyes were full of curiosity.
Such a cat suddenly appeared in place of Violette.
[Brother, um, may I get married?]
“Violette.”
[Yes?]
“You’ve forgotten about… the curse, haven’t you?”
[What curse— Ah!]
After realizing that she had turned into a cat, Violette tilted her head and meowed. Apparently, she pretended to act like a cat albeit belatedly.
However, there was no explanation for the discarded dress and Violette’s sudden disappearance.
“Count Northpole, why has she turned into a cat?”
“It’s a curse. When she is touched by someone of the opposite gender, she turns into a cat.”
So this was the reason why she could not make her debut into society and marry.
“Violette, I have something I wish to talk to Duke Laudense about. Could you please leave the room?”
[Very well.]
With a slightly worried look, Violette jumped down from the couch and walked out of the guest room.
