At the end of Part 1, Ren gets caught up in the power struggle between the main temple and the imperial family and dies a miserable, lonely death. Grand Duke Kylus, who had unknowingly imprinted on Ren, goes berserk the moment he loses his Guide. The explosion he causes breaks down the black wall dividing the human and demon realms, bringing about the end of the world.
Despite the sad ending, what made this novel so popular with Heejae and many others was Kylus’s duality—while sexually exploiting the priest Ren, he also desperately craved and cherished his affection.
Fans in the novel’s comment section even started calling it <Under the Goddess’s Foot> and nicknamed Ha Sehyeon the Goddess’s footstool.
Of course, that Goddess was Seon Heejae—Ren.

In the original, when Ren finds Kylus after the accident in the forest, he does not properly ‘purify’ him—that is, doesn’t give him guiding.

To a reader, the Goddess Aira worshiped in this world was practically an evil deity—greedy and cruel, she enjoyed watching her creations suffer.
Guiding done only to the point of keeping Kylus alive, just as the Goddess taught, drove him mad. As his broken body healed slowly, the priest hovering before his eyes became unbearably tempting. Just like in reality, the two were each other’s first love in the novel as well.
With his body and mind in ruins, Kylus finally breaks the knight’s oath and forcibly takes Ren. The broken character’s subsequent spiral hardly needed further explanation.
So, the fact that Kylus was walking around just fine right now was proof that the story had already changed a lot.
[No but, I have to avoid a rampage at all costs. I can’t even tell what’s going on yet—I can’t let myself end up with my ankles cut and reach a destruction ending.]
Twisting the plot to survive was basic self-preservation.
So, well done, Seon Heejae. You did the right thing. That s*x-guiding from last night—just take it to your grave. Sehyeon hyung would understand, at least to that extent.
