The Esper Grand Duke Wishes For Purity - Chapter 3
***
Seon Heejae was a Guide who held triple S ranks, something others found hard to attain even once. Correction—saying ‘was’ is misleading. Even now, being called ‘Ren Snow’ after falling into a novel, his essence remains that of a Guide.
In his original world, Heejae was the matched Guide of Ha Sehyeon. Ha Sehyeon, too, was a high-ranking Esper not inferior to Heejae.
In other words, Ha Sehyeon and Seon Heejae were the only psychic ability users in East Asia who were each SSS-rank, and together they were the Esper–Guide pair with the highest matching rate in the world.
Maybe that’s why. Fanart about the two was publicly circulated. Drawings, dolls, and even novels—you could find them easily with a quick search online.
< Ren, you were mine from the very beginning! >
This line, with its subtle upward curve at the corners of the mouth, came from a novel titled 〈Under the Goddess’s Star〉, written by a member of the Esper×Guide fan community who made Ha Sehyeon and Seon Heejae the protagonists.
The setting of the novel was the desolate northern territory. Not a place withGates, but an unfortunate land where monsters endlessly crossed over from beyond the black cliffs.
In the story, Ha Sehyeon was Grand Duke Kylus, the one guarding the North—eventually losing control and becoming the tragic male lead who brought the world to ruin.
There, he was a Holy Knight condemned to eternal suffering in the northern territory. Seon Heejae was a priest beloved by the gods, who tamed and dominated Kylus with divine power.
The reason I liked this work was simple.
< If you so desire the light of purification, then fine. Crawl between my thighs, Grand Duke. And lick like a dog. >
Yes. This was one of those tragic, depraved stories where a priest, wielding divine power, torments the Grand Duke of the North by purifying his corrupted energy.
Ah, to be precise, the one who ends up ruined is Seon Heejae. The highlight of the story is when the crazed Grand Duke Kylus cuts off the priest’s ankles and locks him in a tower.
Even after losing his ankles, the still-proud Seon Heejae was the star of an arrogant Goddess. Ha Sehyeon was portrayed as the dog who obsessed over that star and howled in pain. That’s why, even though the official title was 〈Under the Goddess’s Star〉, the readers in the fan community all called it 〈Under the Goddess’s Foot〉.
The relationship between the two in the novel was the worst. They hurt and tormented each other all the way to the brink of the world’s destruction. In the end, Kylus went berserk and triggered the end of the world, and the story closed with every character dying together on the same day in a total annihilation sad ending.
Seriously. Not a single dream or shred of hope.
There are fans like that. The kind who feel a fantasy, a catharsis, from seeing the ones they love suffer, cry, writhe in agony, occasionally cough up blood… and sometimes even get their ankles cut off…
The author of this novel was one of those fans to the core. Known as the god of the ruin genre, they enjoyed immense popularity serializing this story.
—Even in this chapter, our hyung is too sexy……
Seon Heejae himself was an extreme fan, to the point of collecting all the physical copies of the author’s serialized works. If it was about Ha Sehyeon, he wanted to have even a scrap of fictional writing. He didn’t want to miss a single thing.
What did it matter if someone used him as material for a story? Anyway, everyone in the world already knew that Esper Ha Sehyeon and Guide Seon Heejae were stuck together. And if people were kindly creating beautiful portrayals of all sorts of unattempted SM play, how could he not like it?
〈Under the Goddess’s Star〉 was a story that unearthed Seon Heejae’s deeply buried, even unknown to himself, deviant desires—ones he could never confess to Sehyeon hyung—and fulfilled them by proxy.
Of course, that was only while reading.
Things changed drastically when he ended up inside that depraved novel himself.
As if by some divine prank…
‘There’s no way I’m the only one who got pulled in.’
One of the protagonists in the novel, ‘Ren Snow’, had disappeared. Because Seon Heejae, the very person Ren Snow was modeled after, had taken his place.
And yet, strangely enough, the other protagonist, Grand Duke Kylus, had not been replaced. He looked exactly like Ha Sehyeon, possessed the same abilities—but the essence inside was not Ha Sehyeon.
“Ren, why do you move your body so lightly?”
At Kylus’s cold remark directed at him, Heejae was left flustered.
