- The Fluffy Baby Fox Only Bites the Crazy Villain
- Chapter 1 - I Woke Up and Became a Cotton Ball
A pure white snowflake slowly settled on top of my head. The snowflake fell lightly, dancing like a dandelion seed.
It’s pretty. Suddenly, I became curious. What does snow taste like?
I wanted to stick out my tongue to taste it, but my whole body was drained of strength.
I felt like I was lying down, but I didn’t even have the strength to lift my head and check the situation.
This is strange. I was definitely saving a white baby fox.
At the crosswalk, a snow-white baby fox was shivering. I wondered why a fox was in such a place, but fearing it might get into a traffic accident, I hurriedly hugged it to my chest.
At that moment, with a great impact, my body flew onto the asphalt. The last thing I remember thinking was, “I hope the fox is okay.”
But where is this? It doesn’t seem like a hospital.
What came into my blurry vision was a large, solid wooden fence that reached up to the sky.
Like a barrier separating me from the world. And there, a red magic circle was emitting a threatening light…
What on earth is this?
Why am I lying here? As if I’m some kind of sacrifice.
My mind is as hazy as fog. Maybe this is just a strange dream.
“You are an ominous being who will bring destruction to the Wolfes clan.”
Someone said in a resolute tone.
I wanted to lift my head to see who it was, but my body wouldn’t move.
“You, who endlessly crave magical power, will bring destruction to this world. You’d better return to nature.”
The unfamiliar voice calmly delivered cruel words. But for some reason, sadness could be felt in that voice.
My blurry vision was getting darker and darker. A single snowflake fell lightly on the tip of my tongue.
Ah, it’s just as I imagined. The taste of snow is sweet and soft.

“Kying? (What’s this?)”
What was in front of my eyes were front paws covered in white fur. A fluffy rice cake was wriggling.
Small hook-like claws, soft pink jelly paw pads hidden under fluffy fur.
I got up in surprise, but instead of two arms, I stood up awkwardly on four legs.
I could see a pink plump belly too. When I turned my head, a fluffy white tail swayed leisurely.
“Kaaang? Kaang? (Where am I? Why have I become an animal?)”
I think I was hit by a car while trying to save a baby fox at the crosswalk. This isn’t a hospital, and I’m not a person but an animal? Is this a dream?
Around me, I could see a snow-white forest, and in front of me, a small stream was flowing. The forest was as mysterious and quiet as a fairy tale world as if it had snowed all night.
I went down to the stream and looked at my reflection in the flowing water.
The image reflected on the water was a baby fox.
A white baby fox with snow-white, fluffy fur. It had a round appearance as if a puppy and a cat were mixed.
A slightly protruding snout. Large, round, sparkling black eyes, a heart-shaped nose, and light pink lips.
“Kaaang? (The baby fox I saved at the crosswalk?)”
To think I’ve become the baby fox I saved!
I was so surprised that I jumped up on the spot. Sadly, my legs were too short, and I couldn’t even jump properly, falling flat on my face.
“Kkeung, kkeung. (Ouch. My bottom hurts.)”
It hurts, but I’m not waking up from this dream. Why have I become a cotton ball fox?
Splash.
A small fish jumped up from between the rocks. I stared blankly at the sight of the fish swimming, as if entranced.
Gasp! No. This is not the time to think about catching fish!
I shook my head vigorously. I should seriously consider why I’ve become a fox and come up with a plan…
But, that one looks quite fresh.
Drip, drip.
Drops of saliva fell from my mouth. My tiny pink tongue flicked out.
“Kawoong~ (Let me show you my hunting skills. Wait, sashimi.)”
Just as I was about to raise my sharp claws and snatch the fish in one go, an unfamiliar scent brushed my nose.
Sniff, sniff. This was a human scent.
That’s when I came to my senses. This wasn’t the time to catch fish. I needed to find out where this place was and find someone who could help me.
As I swung my small snout back and forth, I caught a strong human scent from the west.
“Kaang! (It’s that way!)”
I ran energetically, but realistically, it was difficult to run on the slippery snow with short legs.
After running a bit, slip.
If I tried to speed up, thud.
A wild fox would be able to run well even on a snowy field. Why is this tiny fox so clumsy at running?
As I was trotting down the slope, my foot slipped on a rock.
My body started spinning round and round. Like riding a squirrel wheel.
“Kying, kying! (Help!)”
I rolled down the slope like a snowball.
Thanks to the fluffy fur, it didn’t hurt, but my head was spinning and I felt like throwing up.
“Kihying. (I almost died. Really.)”
I shook my head vigorously to shake off the snow stuck to my body.
When I came to my senses and looked around, I saw a snow-covered birch forest. The air was quiet and peaceful.
Again, I caught a strong human scent. There was definitely someone I was looking for beyond the birch trees.
The moment I entered the birch forest, the smell of blood stung my nose.
Through the densely packed birch trees, three giant monster bears were rampaging and howling.
I had never seen such giant bears in my life. What kind of world has monsters? Where on earth is this place?
The monster bears bared their sharp fangs and swung their huge hook-like claws. With just a single swipe, the birch trees swayed as if they would break.
Among the monster bears, there was a man wielding a sword.
He was a tall, muscular man with black hair, and his sword was flickering with dark red flames.
The man was fighting mercilessly, swinging his sword toward the monster bears. The light emitting from his crazed red eyes shone like flames.
Kraaak!
Every time his sword passed, blood splattered, and the monster bears let out agonizing howls.
The man was slaughtering the monster bears with overwhelming power.
Seeing such a terrifying sight for the first time in my life, I lost all strength in my body and couldn’t move.
At that moment, I heard the voices of armed knights moving urgently behind the birch forest, shouting:
“Protect Grand Duke Karden’s surroundings!”
“It’s dangerous to get close to the Commander. Everyone, regroup and stand by!”
“Where’s the healer? Bring them quickly before the Grand Duke’s magic goes berserk!”
Wait, who did they say?
Are they saying that monster-like human is Grand Duke Karden?
The moment I heard that name, memories I had forgotten came flooding back into my mind.
Now I remember.
Before saving the baby fox at the crosswalk, I was sitting at the bus stop reading a book.
The popular novel <Flower of the Borderlands>. It was a love story between a healer heroine and the crown prince.
Grand Duke Karden Helleide was the villain who committed treason to possess the healer Olivia.
Karden, with his powerful magic, was the commander guarding the northern borderlands. He had a fatal weakness of turning into a blood-thirsty monster when his magic went berserk.
Karden kidnapped Olivia to cure his magic outbursts and committed treason, but was eventually attacked by the kingdom’s army and executed.
The fact that the villainous Karden is here, could it be that I’ve been transported into the book? But why have I become a fox instead of a human?
I blankly looked up at Karden swinging his sword and beating down the bears.
Every time he swung his sword, his blood-stained cloak fluttered, and the snow-white fur ball attached to his shoulder epaulette shook.
Could it be, is that a fox tail?
My whole body trembled like an aspen leaf. The sound of tiny fangs chattering could be heard.
Right, there was a fox in the original story. As Karden’s favorite prey. He would catch foxes to make fur collars or give them as rewards to his subordinates.
This was no time to be spectating. I need to run away quickly before catching his eye. If I’m caught, I’ll become a new fox collar.
At that moment, everything around became quiet. Until just now, my ears had been deafened by the screams of monster bears and the sound of swinging swords.
Through the birch trees, I could see Karden’s back covered in blood. The monster bears lay fallen at his feet.
Karden slowly turned his head. Blood from the monsters flowed down his forehead, and drops of blood dripping from the tip of his sword stained the pure white snow.
His red eyes were staring directly at me.
“Kyang! (He saw me!)”
Those eyes have already gone mad.
I haven’t even been in this baby fox’s body for a few hours, I can’t die like this.
I tried to run away, but my legs seemed frozen to the snow, not moving an inch.
“Kying? Kyng? (Run quickly, you stubby legs!)”
My whole body trembled. As I stumbled backward, I slipped and fell on the snow again.
I flailed my short four legs while sprawled on the snow. But I couldn’t lift my plump body.
I heard footsteps approaching, crunching through the snow. An ominous and sinister shadow loomed over my head.
I squeezed my eyes shut and played dead right there.
My fur is white, so I won’t be distinguishable in the snow. He’ll mistake me for a rolling snowball.
“Why is there a cotton ball here?”
I expected a blood-thirsty, crazy voice, but his voice was surprisingly calm.
I almost perked up my ears in surprise. I put on a desperate act of playing dead, or rather, pretending to be a snowball, with my eyes closed.
“I must have been mistaken. Did a baby fox lose its way? Where’s its mother?”
Suddenly, my body floated up into the air. He had grabbed me by the scruff of my neck and lifted me up.
Karden sniffed and frowned.
“I can’t smell its mother. It must have been separated from its mother for a long time.”
“Kwang! Kaang! (Put me down!)”
I flailed around trying to escape from Karden’s grasp. I flapped my short legs frantically, but it was useless.
With him holding me by the scruff of my neck, I looked like a towel hung on a clothesline.
“Kaang! (Taste my teeth!)”
I used all my strength to sink my fangs into his wrist. I planned to bite him and run away.
The moment I pierced my fangs into Karden’s firm skin, our eyes met.
His bloodshot red eyes slowly changed to blue. They were beautiful eyes, clear and calm like the sky.
“Unbelievable. My magic calmed down because a fox bit me.”
The corners of Karden’s red lips curved into a gentle smile.
