The Genius Professor Wants An Easy Life - Chapter 27.1

I’ve organized my thoughts.

‘I need to pass Joanna, and Catherine and Libel should fail.’

Isn’t that a bit arbitrary?

‘It’s not just for my selfish desires. It’s also the best for the upcoming calamity.’

Let me explain.

The Hero Academy has 16 protagonists and 4 academies.

Each academy has 4 departments.

In other words, one protagonist should be assigned to each department of the 4 academies.

‘However, since I applied for an additional 3 positions in the Ruby Academy’s Magic Department, that means there won’t be enough protagonists assigned to the other academies.’

This was a serious issue.

Each academy had different storylines, and all four protagonists were needed to resolve those scenarios.

So, they had to be distributed appropriately.

‘Especially, there’s a reason to keep Joanna. If Joanna makes a wrong move, it could turn into a catastrophic failure.’

Catherine and Libel are top-tier.

No matter where you put them, they’ll grow well.

However, not all protagonists are like that.

If you leave them alone, some protagonists might ‘fall behind.’

Joanna was one of them.

‘If it were the standard in Normal Mode right now, it might be okay to give up on Joanna.’

If.

If it’s really Hard Mode as I feared, the clear difficulty spikes significantly.

In Normal Mode, it’s enough for the four main protagonists to grow well.

But in Hard Mode, a whopping 8 essential protagonists had to grow properly.

Joanna was one of those 8, a ‘Sub-Main’ protagonist.

‘So, this is a choice for the world. Absolutely not for my selfish desires.’

I kept emphasizing this to ease my guilty conscience.

‘The problem is that failing Libel is usually not a difficult task.’

As mentioned earlier, dropping Catherine was easy.

However, Libel was different.

‘Even in the preliminary exams, she ranked first. Her scores were much higher than Joanna, who comes from the prestigious magical lineage.’

By the way, Joanna was from the noble lineage of the Klein Duchy, a renowned magical family.

While Catherine also came from a magical family, but unlike Catherine, Joanna was a legitimate genius of direct descent.

A prominent candidate for the next head of the magical family.

Joanna was hailed to such an extent, but Libel’s preliminary exam scores were overwhelming, to the point where even Joanna couldn’t compare.

‘Considering Libel’s true identity, it’s natural. The existence of that person has been a ‘calamity’ from the start.’

Thinking about Libel’s ‘past,’ I furrowed my brows.

All 16 protagonists had their share of tumultuous pasts, but Libel’s was excessively intense.

‘I might lose if I handle this wrong.’

No, it’s not at that level.

If Libel went all out, it was a 100% defeat.

‘I have to get as strong as possible before the entrance exam. Strong enough to disqualify Libel.’

I made a firm resolution.

Again, I’m not doing this out of some greedy desire.

It’s for the future of the world.

Really. Yeah. Truly.

The problem was how to get stronger.

There’s less than a week left until the entrance exam.

That’s an excessively short amount of time.

‘There’s no guarantee that I can obtain the Heartstone of the Ice Sea before the entrance exam.’

I needed another trick.

A good idea struck me.

“Lindon, are you preparing well for the graduation exam?”

“Ye-Yes? Uh, yes! I am!”

“…It seems like you’re slacking off.”

“…I was just looking at stock charts. Oh, I’m just looking! I can’t do it now because I’m broke!! I can’t even get a loan because I’m a defaulter, huhu.”

Lindon decided to take an additional remedial graduation exam.

The schedule coincides with the last days before the entrance exam.

Right under my nose, but he still seems unable to pull himself together.

“It won’t do. I’ll personally tutor you for the exam.”

“…S-Senior?”

“That’s right. I’m the future distinguished professor. Remember it with honor. But there’s a condition.”

I lifted the corner of my mouth.

“You must follow my instructions exactly. Any lesson I give. I’ll teach you thoroughly from the basics.”

That’s right.

My plan is to utilize Lindon.

I intended to indirectly study by watching Lindon struggle.

With my Grand Practitioner, I believed explosive growth could occur through this method.

In the blink of an eye, a few days passed.

While going to the academy, I felt that the gazes directed towards me had changed a bit.

“Senior Van. Are you really becoming a professor?”

“It seems so. Ever since the recent Dark Sorcerer incident, things have really changed, haven’t it?”

“Maybe we shouldn’t call him Senior Van anymore.”

“No, I still can’t believe it. Isn’t it all just a scam?”

“Yeah, he still hasn’t even reached the 1st star, how did he confront the Dark Sorcerer?”

“I heard he’s been bothering Lindon lately. I saw Lindon not too long ago, and he looked beaten up!”

So, it did change ‘a bit.’

A coexistence of doubt and suspicion?

‘Given my notorious reputation, an instant change would be impossible.’

It didn’t matter.

‘Once I become a professor, I’ll quietly sit in a corner and suck up all the perks.’

I headed to the ‘Admissions Office’ in the center of the academy.

There was a meeting among the professors in charge of the exams.

It was bustling with activity as they were currently receiving admission applications.

“Come on, take turns!!”

“Don’t cut in line!”

It was while I was heading to the meeting room, avoiding the market-like corridors.

Suddenly, I heard a surprised sound.

Pashh!!

The sound of a slap.

When I turned my gaze, a glamorous-looking girl was angrily threatening.

“How dare this beggar step on my shoe? Shall I have your ankles cut off?”

I was surprised.

I recognized her.

‘Joanna!’
